Have you lived somewhere with vastly different cultural norms? In some places pointing is rude. In others eye contact. Unless you've been somewhere a while, this takes time. Your comment just makes you sound like you've never experienced other cultures
@socialchangeuk
Her hyperbole isn't helpful. She claims in this that there is a life or death situation for *millions* of people in UK currently. Please. That IS an exaggeration. Just shows she has no real idea of the stats and numbers around poverty
@drtomround
This seems absurd. Don't know if SM right place to air it. How would GPs feel if community AHP teams started tweeting all the worst GP referrals we get? Better communication between teams would be brilliant, I would love to have more conversations with GPs
@grabyourcape
Well said. She continues to divide world into "good people" and "bad people" and paints anyone who criticises her as part of the Tory/TERF crowd ,("bad people"). She can't see how many people are like us (single parents, UC claimants) are also critical of her claims.
@seanbamforth
@dislocated42
@gems_endgame
Tbh, it's more the over emotive narrative she spins that doesn't chime with a lot of people's experiences. She has clearly over exaggerated her experience of "poverty". I don't like what she represents- victimhood, splitting world into good/bad people, weaponising disability
@MedRegoncall1
@PHU_NHS
you use your anon account -whoever you are- to raise issues about trainees, role of doctors etc- due to the "fear of reprisals"
You also use the cover of anonymity to be a sexist troll.
So- there we are too.
@essdubs2
@EmergMedDr
Was it half hours work though? He pays for all equipment travel and needs to cover admin costs which won't be billed. V different to a salary.
I support higher pay for all in NHS including doctors but silly to compare
@MiloKostusiak
There is absolutely no way ACPs or ANPs or PAs should be earning more than a doctor. End of.
Less responsibility = more pay. What is going on?!
This is madness. This is the UK in the 21st century.
Run by a bunch of 🤡🤡🤡.
@drjanaway
I just don't see why it should be compared. Even if nurse earns more in 1st yr, will be outearned by Drs for rest of their lives and likely capped at band 6 level for most.
@dr_shibley
I disagree. Often the carers shoulder a great deal of burden and may themselves be housebound due to not being able to leave loved one. They cannot provide good care if unsupported themselves.
@medicalmodelbri
@SophieAnnBurges
Again, unnecessary personal attacks, just bringing the discussion to a low. Lots of ppl might have childhood "dream jobs" such as working with babies, animals, planes, rather than specific roles. Trolling one person's X account isnt a great look
@Doc_IonaCollins
Seems like an unnecessary duplication of work.
The article states the PA was referred to as Dr for "some unknown reason" - think anyone who's looked this case up became aware it was because the PA went on to qualify as a Dr so was a Dr by time of tribunal.

People have made budget meals forever for god's sake. JM has clearly stated she has no interest in TV work and is also not great at it when she has had a shot. At least JOs recipes are likely tested

It's just nonsense tho. How long ago was that bus? It's a very tenuous link and not demonstrating a real understanding of issues, she seems to think consultants are on strike

I never said its fair and its about what I get paid (and will likely always get paid given ceiling) as a b6 AHP so no I don't think it's fair. But people don't compare pay post tax in that way so it's misleading to do so without stating that.
@naomicfisher
@dwe_89
Nobody would give me a behaviour point but I don't think my team would be pleased if I forgot to turn up to patient appts. Things can get in the way but being organised is necessary for my job
@JThambyrajah
But if they need A and E that's where you'd send them? Things are pretty damn awful but if I felt need for A&E I'd be staying put. If more urgent would it still have been 11 hour wait?
@hkg294
@Adam_Skeen
AfC banding decisions are poor though. I've done an MA, MSc, and an AHP BSc. Hands down the BSc was the hardest of the lot. No reason why PAs should start on 7 and other AHPs on 5. Its a technicality given you can also do most AHP courses as an MSc.
@DocDoLi
You don't think an AHP runs a therapy-led service? How sheltered are you? A team of therapists provides a service, which is generally run by a therapy lead. Do you think doctors lead all services across primary care? Look at community therapy teams.
@DaiBev
@DrEilidhMaria
Interesting comment. Do you think clever people don't do history/ English degrees?
Tho to say I absolutely agree there shouldn't be a fast track to playing doctor- but your comment comes across as patronising

You don't fully understand UC, which also covers what was previously childcare support via working tax credits. I'm a single parent working full time in NHS and get small amount of UC towards childcare. Do you want every NHS workers to leave their jobs for something better paid?
@DrNeenaJha
Hi, these figures aren't correct but keep getting quoted.
Dr salary 2008 was 21k starting.
21k to 32k is actually a 52% inc.
MP salary difference is 40% in same period.
Support for junior docs but I think it's important to get the basic figures right.

I am surprised tbh that you can't see how clear it is that this is an attack on an individual. OP is being deliberately obtuse that it's just an "interesting" thing they discovered. I have utter respect for many HCPs on this platform but its a shame to see people join in this

Try going to page 5 or so on. The results include mostly doctor jobs. They come up on search as physician associate due to the job descriptions probably include lists of people the candidate will work with

Yup. They definitely should be paid more but posts like this saying students live like they earn 43k per year. A different broke student experience compared to mine!
@DocDoLi
@MiloKostusiak
Doctors save lives. But for some it's the AHPs that get them walking, talking, swallowing, and ultimately back home and life. I think that's pretty important too, what's the point saving a life if theres nothing on the other side?
@LeePKelly
I guess I find it a bit patronising to refer to people as not having two pennies to rub together, and people on a budget must have figured out swapping one herb or legume for another?

Genuine Q. As an AHP in community we often get inappropriate referrals from GP. We do understand their time constraints. But do Dr's think they are the only ones receiving inappropriate referrals (and not also the ones giving them!)
@PaulaMc007
So true. I threw my phone at a wall once breaking it :( when dealing with grief. The language we use for those in care often strikes me as pathologising what would be normal behaviours, when put under the lens.

I'd argue that over dramatising and exaggerating your circumstances can definitely hurt people sucked in. See Bella Gibson. JM wrote a blog last year entirely aimed entirely at having people feel sorry for her & send £. I am a single mum working FT claiming UC...

Looking through her comments club is quite telling. It's people who sound like they're talking to a 5 year old. If you dare suggest to anyone that it's not just trolls questioning her MO, you get blocked.

Many seem obsessed that patients only want to see ReAl DoCtOrS.
Irony is in places I've worked (neuro rehab) with both clin psych and psychiatrists, it would definitely be the clin psych I'd want!
I think some have limited exp outside of acute medicine.

Yup. I'm an SLT. Otherwise known as throat nurse, nurse, etc. It's annoying when seeing swallow pts and the clue isn't even in the name.

I think some prefer evidence either way. There are definitely anons making up DMs and stories and re posting, the main account doing this writes his little stories on reddit then re posts on here. All riddled with the same typos. Not all anons but it def happens.
@Ask_foradoctor
Seems a bit mad to state "non medically trained healthcare professionals" are not trained in the same "medical model".
What does this even mean?
@DocDoLi
@MiloKostusiak
They provide expert input and if you or your family needed an experienced AHP, you'd want them well paid. I just don't see the logic, they're different jobs. It's as though you're trying to say first year doctors should earn more than anyone ever?
@liambarker
@Chris_Riggers
@DrNads77
But our practice you can't often book in advance so need to call on the day. So if an issue like eczema or non urgent but does need referral, need to call GP on day. What to do?

With all due respect too, physios get people walking after a stroke. Without OTs and physios whats the point in saving lives of people who can't get home safely. Getting people home safely us a huge responsibility to avoid failed discharges and things like further falls.

TBH once people enter in conversation, most are reasonable even if disagreeing. It bothers me PAs start on b7 given it takes yrs&yrs to reach that as AHP. But I also find general attitude towards AHPs on other SoMe sites sad - scathing & talk of us as if all medschool rejects...
