Today a junior Dr (not mine) whom I was trying to help spoke to me so dismissively & rudely because they thought I was a nurse (in my scrubs). When they realised I was a Consultant, their demeanour changed 🤭. It doesn’t matter who you are in the #NHS , everyone deserves respect!

I’ve noticed *a lot* of Drs congratulate the #GMC #CEO on this statement. For *a lot* of #minoritised Drs, this statement is meaningless because we’re still 2-3x more likely to be referred & investigated for trivial, no harm, fitness to practice reasons with #racism from 🏁 to 🔚

Threatening Drs with a vexatious #GMC referral is unacceptable. Hearing that 33 Drs died whilst under GMC investigation is extremely upsetting. Can you imagine how distressing it is for the recipient of that news. Please let us not weaponise GMC referrals as it’s life threatening
