Every single black & brown person in this country will recognise these mannerisms, the smirking, the unmerritted self assuredness.
I first saw it 1st in the eyes of a girl I asked out in school, then I recognised it in some of my "friends" too.
Pathetic.
When we arrived in the UK I was aged 5. I had no English. The first few days of primary school were terrifying.
But I was lucky enough to find one kid who would play with me. Only one.
We've remained friends ever since.
He was my best man too.
That's the power of kindness.
Here I am working in the NHS.
I came to this country as a child refugee.
I have only ever had a British passport & only ever considered myself a British citizen.
The
#NationalityandBordersBill
means that my citizenship could be revoked without right of appeal.
Thanks for that
I called so many people on the phone to tell them their loved one was dead or dying in December 2020.
"Can I come and see them?"
"We have to protect everyone we can from this. No visitors are allowed. I'm so sorry."
"I understand."
Meanwhile in CCHQ…
One of these men owes £500,000,000 to HMRC.
The other mistakenly ticked a box on a form which meant he received 30p per week more in benefits over 6 years.
Which one do you think was harangued, convicted, lost their home, driven to depression and attempted suicide?
Remember that time Matt Hancock gave his mate, a pub landlord with no previous experience making medical supplies, a £30 million pound government Covid contract to produce vials for testing kits?
He just gave it to him after getting a WhatsApp.
Remember that?
Because I do.
This is Ben.
Ben is 21 years old & has been arrested this morning, presumably for having "Not My King" on a placard & wearing a t-shirt with that same slogan on his shirt.
He is a member of
Thank you
@metpoliceuk
for increasing their membership today.
I speak with no foreign accent.
I have lived and worked in the UK for almost all my life.
I am a citizen and pay taxes.
I am secular.
But...
I'm ethnically from a Muslim country.
I'm dealing with islamaphobia more and more regularly.
A Tory majority next week scares me.
It's genuinely obscene that someone disrupted George Osborne's wedding day with a little orange confetti for all of 10 seconds.
It's literally the worst thing a person could possibly ever do.
He was Chancellor of the Exchequer for goodness sake.
Show some damn respect.
I became sick with
#COVID19
in March. My wife was also sick. We have 3 kids & stayed home to look after them. Because that was the rule.
Back at work I dressed in full PPE to look after the sick and dying.
I didn't do all of that so
#DominicCummings
could flout the rules.
A sitting MP, Nadine Dorries, openly discrediting an ongoing parliamentary procedure on live television.
This is in contempt of parliament.
If there are no repercussions to this then it's just further evidence that we are no longer a serious country.
The police will arrest you for SUSPICION of evading a £1.75 bus fare, in front of your child.
But they won't go after the criminals that stole £BILLIONS from the treasury.
This is a bullshit statement from a bullshit institution that exists only to preserve the powerful.
@Saskia_Cole
Pls see the following statement outlining the full circs of the incident. Agree the video does look concerning but it is only a snapshot of the wider incident.
I just got home from my evening shift in the Emergency Department.
Every thing is at its limit.
Every one is working flat out.
Every area is full to bursting.
Every day a little more is needed.
It cannot go on like this.
I cannot go on like this.
People with an autistic person in their life will appreciate how significant this is:
My brother, who's never stayed over anywhere other than my mum and dad's houses, is (finally) relaxed & lying down in the guest bedroom of our new house.
He's staying the night!
Oh happy day!
While I had my post nights nap, big sister (8 years old) finished the woolly hat she was knitting for the Bodlet.
I am genuinely impressed by how good it is.
Rishi Sunak: "Have they looked after you?"
Patient: "They always do, but it's a pity you don't pay them more."
RS: "Well, we're trying."
Pt: "No, you're not trying! You need to try harder."
She's the hero we needed. 👏
I work in Emergency Medicine.
I'm sat in my car after a shift which has exhausted me, physically & mentally.
Now I must reset. On the other side of my drive there's a wife and 3 kids that need me to not drag home the huge stresses I had to burden.
That's not always easy to do.
As an Emergency Medicine consultant in the NHS, I just want to say, to all of our patients across the UK:
I'm sorry.
We're really trying, I promise.
There's just too much to do.
And there are not enough resources in the hospitals or in our communities to satisfy demand.
People who are cheering for this to happen, for democracy and free speech to be curtailed because you disagree with what they're saying… you need to understand that one day these same powers WILL be used against something YOU agree with.
So what then?
We mocked them, belittled them, abused them, taunted them, lied about them, humiliated them, slandered them, said we knew better than them, undervalued them, overworked them, called them lazy, harassed them, vilified them, incited hatred against them, drove them to despair, but…
Hundreds of thousands died in the UK.
10s of millions got ill & many still suffer long term effects.
Nearly everyone missed important life events.
£BILLIONS went missing from the treasury.
No
@Conservatives
, YOU don't get to set the terms or the limits on OUR search for justice.
I called so many people on the phone to tell them their loved one was dead or dying in December 2020.
"Can I come and see them?"
"We have to protect everyone we can from this. No visitors are allowed. I'm so sorry."
"I understand."
Meanwhile in CCHQ…
The planning.
The preparation.
The announcement.
The delivery.
The self congratulations.
You can just see it.
And all for every single member of staff receiving to go:
"WTF is this? Are they taking the piss?"
“I've seen people entering the country and straight into the benefits office...”
You haven't, mate.
What you've done is heard some other pub bore say those words and in your mind you've imagined it and started nodding.
That's not the same as reality.
A retired GP tells a story about how he went to help an American couple involved in serious accident.
The 1st thing the woman asked is "How much will it cost?"
“Forget about the fucking money, we’re here to help you.”
People before profit. Always.
#NHS
As a consultant in an Emergency Department that will undoubtedly be swamped on any days of junior doctor industrial action, let me just say this:
You have my 100% backing. I support you now and in the future.
And if anyone comes after you they’ll first have to go through me.
"A male GP has been prevented from donating blood to the Scottish NHS after he refused to answer if he was pregnant"
It should read: a GP has acted like an embarrassing man-child because he suffered discomfort from being reminded that trans people exist.
This Thursday at 8pm I will be standing on my porch, clapping for the energy companies.
I will do this every week instead of paying them for the service they provide.
#ClapForEnergyCompanies
"If you've got internal bleeding and you just need a test there ought to be a way that doesn't involve going to see a GP."
As an Emergency Physician can I humbly recommend that if you think you have internal bleeding, go and see a doctor.
I keep telling you people, when they say "there's no money left" what they mean is there's no money left for you.
They can continually find money for overpriced barges, faulty PPE and now a 45% increase in the yearly grant to someone with a private fortune of nearly £2bn.
Imagine being forced to apologise to someone you suspected was a murderer of the most vulnerable human beings on the planet.
Then years later it was finally proven she was a murderer.
I'd be livid with much more than just her.
Wouldn't you be?
Can we show my amazing sister some love?
She has been anxious about driving for years but after many hours of instruction and practice has passed her driving test at the age of 28 on the first attempt.
👏
You cannot safely run acute hospital services which persistently run at >85% capacity.
You just can't.
Patients suffer.
Staff suffer.
Society suffers.
And the Tory government actually REDUCED hospital capacity DURING a pandemic.
This is an
#NHS
SOS call.
Is ANYBODY listening?
Nothing will ever more perfectly summarise our country than our millionaire married to a billionaire Prime Minister, 'volunteering' at a community kitchen (photo op), asking a man "Do you work in business?", to then be told by the man, "No. I'm homeless".
The Queen dying at home, surrounded by loved ones at the age of nearly 97 is as good as one can get at the end of life.
We should all hope for such peace and comfort at the end.
Without a hint of hyperbole I could take the £37,000,000,000 and:
- Revolutionise NHS IT, dragging it into the 21st century.
- Provide a locker for every single hospital worker in a clean, refurbished locker room.
- Make parking free
And still have £30,000,000,000 leftover
I'm an Emergency Medicine consultant & here I am today giving blood.
I answered all the questions, including whether I'm pregnant and what my assigned sex at birth was without making a fuss, donated, ate a biscuit, drank some water & then left.
Can I have an article
@Telegraph
?
'I'm the luckiest headteacher on the planet'
Nick Sheeran returns to school 7 months after his life was saved by a defibrillator he'd decided to install at his school.
This is why defibrillators should be in schools, shops, libraries… everywhere.
As a non Muslim that gets mistaken for one because of the way I look, I can say that many British people just don't like Muslims.
Attitudes towards me change very quickly when people realise I'm not a Muslim. It's obvious to me, so it should be obvious to everyone.
It's sad.
Nadine Dorries was the epitome of the disgraced former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson's government.
Laughably incompetent, entitled without merit, bewilderingly narcissistic, promoted far beyond their aptitude & most of all, unscrupulously nasty.
#GoNads
This time lapsed video by Peter Maier shows a "wet microburst".
This is a rare weather phenomenon and it's unlikely you will see it more beautifully demonstrated than in this video.
This is EXPLOSIVE 🤯
82% of NHS trusts in England and Wales didn't record a SINGLE COVID-19 infection let alone death in its workers.
Allegedly the HSE advised trusts to not report and this came from a "high level".
True scale of HCW deaths not known.
Imagine being the Prime Minister, seeing everything that's going on in the NHS, let alone the UK as a whole and your first thought being:
"We need to make our kids do more maths."
#mafffs
#GeneralElectionNow
Just a reminder that the disgraced former Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has made a junior aide, that worked in a ministry office for 18 months, a lifelong peer.
There's an injunction in place stopping people reporting on this.
Why?
Because we live in an illusion of a democracy
I am angry.
I have I risk my life at work.
I have to risk the life of my wife, my children & my parents because I have to work.
I risk all of this.
And all most people have to do is wear a mask sometimes and just be a little considerate.
And some say even that's too much.
This is Baroness Jenny Jones of the Green Party perfectly calling out this current Tory government.
This lurch to the right, populist rhetoric and scapegoating is a product of a Tory party terrified of not only losing their grip on power, but of their political annihilation.
Sudden cardiac death in young athletes is a tragically well known and documented phenomenon.
Either this person is incompetent as a Cardiologist or they are wilfully spreading misinformation.
Whichever way you look at it, this is disgraceful.
Tonight I'm going to cuddle my 3 children, 4, 7 and 9 years old in their sleep.
Then I will thank all that is good and holy that we don't live somewhere that values unfettered gun ownership more than the lives of their children.
People with an autistic person in their life will appreciate how significant this is:
My brother, who's never stayed over anywhere other than my mum and dad's houses, is (finally) relaxed & lying down in the guest bedroom of our new house.
He's staying the night!
Oh happy day!
This is now getting ridiculous, even for Tories.
What did they think, that we'd just forget that hundreds of thousands of people DIED and billions and billions of £s of OUR MONEY went missing?
"…the government is taking its own Covid Inquiry to court."
Our Prime Minister gave £126,000 of public money to his side piece.
I don't give 2 shits about who he fucks.
I care about who he's fucking over.
That's all of us.
#WeNeedToTalkAboutArcuri
Today I literally saved someone's life.
Now you may think that this happens to me a lot and compared to most people my numbers are probably better, but it doesn't happen anywhere nearly as often as you may think.
But today it did happen.
And I am happy.
This x-ray is of a child presenting to the emergency department with the No. 1 cause of death in children in the USA.
I've been an Emergency Medicine doctor in the UK for 15 years and I have not once seen this presentation in an adult let alone a child.
What does that tell you?
You can't just "evacuate a hospital" and to do it in 2 hours is impossible.
It would be close to impossible to do it in my own hospital, with fully intact infrastructure and not under imminent threat of destruction.
This is unbearable.
🔴BREAKING:
Israel has given Al Awda Hospital just two hours to evacuate. Our staff are still treating patients.
We unequivocally condemn this action, the continued indiscriminate bloodshed and attacks on health care in Gaza.
We are trying to protect our staff and patients.
I can't help but think if 24 Ukrainian doctors with UK residency were trapped when a war broke out, they would be assisted in returning safely to the UK.
Maybe it's just me, though.
#PintSizedLoser
is the best hashtag of 2024.
Before people get too sensitive, let's remember that he's pursuing some of the cruelest policies targeting the most vulnerable people in our society, to win the votes of a handful of the worst people in our society.
He's fair game.
There is no red in this picture.
Your brain is filling in the colour.
The picture is made entirely of light blue, black and white.
Zoom in, you'll see.
Party at CCHQ during lockdown.

They knew what they were doing.
They always knew what they were doing.

The people on the boats didn't sell PPE contracts to their friends defrauding the treasury of billions.
They didn't keep energy and fuel prices at all time highs, making record profits while wholesale gas and oil prices are down.
They are close to powerless.
Don't buy the con.
You know what we also used to have?
MASSIVELY HIGH RATES OF INFANT MORTALITY.
For the first time in human history, children dying regularly from transmissible infectious disease has become SO rare (in developed nations) we've collectively forgotten that it ever happened at all.
Prince Edward and Sophie present the President of St Lucia with a gift for the platinum jubilee. A framed portrait of themselves.
Honestly, giving nothing would've been better than this.
His face says it all.
What I want to know is:
How are these rugs so dirty?
What is the environmental impact of cleaning these rugs vs just getting a new one?
Whose paying for a fucking Donald Duck rug to be cleaned like this?
I am apoplectic.
How dare they try to do this?
Fuck off, Sunak.
The only people to blame for the state we're in are you motherfuckers. You and the rich arseholes you serve.
How dare you try this?
How fucking dare you?
We should now DEMAND an election.
