This is nonsense. To make that stamp duty saving you'd need to be buying a £500,000+ property. With 10% deposit, cheapest fix mortgage would cost £2,400/mth (£28,000/yr). How can someone on £30k afford that I am asking treasury to remove.

I'm seeing some misunderstanding the benefits debate as if it were workers v unemployed. Roughly 40% of those who receive Universal Credit get them as in-work benefits to top up low incomes. Many others too have disabilities or mental health problems making work difficult.

From next April the 45% top rate of tax (applies to those earning £150,000) will be scrapped. So the top rate will be the 40% higher rate threshold. This means mega earners, pay the same rate as those on £50,000. #MiniBudget

NEWS: It gets worse! I've just got uodated price cap predictions from @CornwallInsight . The latest spike in year-ahead wholesale price means the OCT cap prediction is now UP 78% (so £3,500/yr on typical bills) & likely up again in Jan. Its will be desperate. Intervention needed

Just to clarify in practice the £200 bill-credit 'loan' on all home elec bills in Oct. - every bill will reduce by £200 - every bill after Apr 23 increases by £40/yr for 5yrs regardless of if you got the £200 or not. Its a 1yr bill reduction followed by a 5yr compulsory levy.

Dear @hmtreasury please could you change the website which is giving MISLEADING information about the NI rise. It says it is a 1.25% rise. That is not correct for most it is a rise of just over 10%. The rate is rising by 1.25% points. See below
