Delighted to be able to tell you that today I joined 16 amazing women from around the world, all working for BBC News, as we were named “Inspiring Women for 2024” Very very proud to be nominated by colleagues I respect, and recognised in an organisation needed more now than ever.
Think of this legend often, and what he would think of what I’m doing now. But he’s always in my heart on Children in Need. He was the heart and soul of the charity ❤️
@TheDailyShow
You’ve got a brass neck doing this. Seriously. I don’t know how you didn’t think the Brits wouldn’t see it - and rally round our
@MrMichaelSpicer
It’s my birthday today. It’s also the 4th anniversary of the death of my glorious friend Anna. It feels important to say, especially after losing Rachael Bland yesterday, don’t look back with regret or panic - instead look forward with purpose. GETTING OLDER IS A PRIVILEGE.
WOW - they all seem to care so much about education, the NHS, social care and our welfare state. IF ONLY THEY HAD A SHOT AT BEING IN CABINET AND MAKING REAL CHANGE 🤦🏻♀️
There is one person in particular who has been instrumental in the amplifying the voice of trafficking victims and finding them justice. That’s
@nazirafzal
- not only did I meet him today he thinks my book is excellent - day made
I worked with Steve for years - he’s been a friend & mentor. I can’t believe I had to break this news but thank you to my kind colleagues who ran to tell me before I saw it on the wires. Steve loved to teach me about radio. Announcing his death on air was an unwelcome lesson.
Such sad news about Steve Wright today. Well done to
@LouiseOnAir
for breaking this news on the radio. Not an easy thing to do, you bought a tear to my eye as I was driving along this prevening
🚨 Some news! 🚨
I am delighted and hugely grateful to tell you that I am the new Afternoon Presenter for
@BBCSuffolk
@BBCNorfolk
@BBCCambs
Join us daily, starting Monday 4th September 2pm-6pm
The Royal Family may have extraordinary lives - but they have ordinary feelings. Grief is horrible. Thinking of the Queen, and those mourning the loss of their loved ones, their past and their future.
I’ve seen and had so many messages from devoted Steve Wright fans who say “I’m just a listener….” “I’m only a listener….” “I only knew him from the radio….”
There is no such thing as “only a listener”
Listeners are everything - full stop
Steve knew that better than anyone.
🚨🚨🚨 NEWS!! 🚨🚨🚨 I am SO EXCITED to tell you that it’s official.... I am joining the presenting team of
@BBCCambs
in Jan 2020 as the host of Sunday Morning Breakfast. I am so thrilled to work with such fab people, and work in local news at a time we need it to thrive !!
A lot is going on, I know. But tomorrow at 5pm the fabric of our radio listening changes a lot. I worked on Steve’s show for 2 years and he’s very special to me. Some words from him to us before the final SWITA.
It’s my last Friday show! End of an era….. can’t be too over the top about it as I’m still here on Sundays for now. So join us for our Last Day of Term show 6am
@BBCCambs
@BBCSounds

It will brighten your soul and show you why diversity and inclusion is so important . Plus
@michaelsheen
is incredibly lovely.
I suspect she may think this is a wise move.

It’s an investigation into the abhorrent crime of

and
#humantrafficking
in the U.K.
It’s available to pre-order now
@TechnicallyRon
Can I add Old Street Roundabout to that? No matter which exit you choose from the underground, you never come out at road you meant to......
This Country, its writers Daisy May and Charlie Cooper, and its cast (especially
@PaulChahidi
) should be applauded on every level. It's an absolute joy and deserves a place in a comedy hall of fame. Poignant and heartfelt.
Obviously any/everyone is watching series 3 of
#ThisCountry
which, quietly and magnificently, just gets better and better. But can we all stop for a moment to applaud the legend that is the vicar aka
@PaulChahidi
in Ep. 2?
@MatthewStadlen
@rhysbrown00
Estimated 136000 in modern slavery in the U.K. - just written a book on it. Been covering this for years. It’s been a challenge to hammer it home to people.

I'm bloody heartbroken about George Alagiah. I remember on his first day back after he was initially off, I saw him walking into NBH and even though we didn't know each other I just yelped and waved and welcomed him back.... he was so delightful and cheery and ...lovely.
I've been trying to be pragmatic about BBC LR cuts. Just had the most beautiful email from a listener which is one of those that you print off and carry in your diary for rubbish days. No matter what happens next, I've done something good over the last 3 years.
As you will have heard on the show this morning, I’m leaving Friday Breakfast on July 14th. You can still catch me on Sunday Breakfast for the time being. Just want to thank the people of Cambridgeshire ( and beyond ) who have embraced me,
@dancingglenn
and our show ❤️
It’s publication week!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I mean it’s not ideal to be sharing it with
@richardosman
and his genious brain BUT I am embracing the fact we will be in bookshops at the same time
I'd heard this story up until the point she declared she'd never met the Queen. Never heard the rest and never dared hope it was true. THIS IS BRILLIANT.
Today we had the funeral of one of our listeners, Eddie in Hampton. I was so blown away by the fact it was attended by listeners who either made friends with him in real life via our Sunday breakfast show, or hadn’t even met him at all. The power of local radio ❤️
Gang if you haven’t watched
#traces
on BBC iplayer you REALLY need to. Brilliant story by
@valmcdermid
& Amelia Bullimore.
@MollyWindsor97
is breathtaking as always,
@martin_compston
is 🥰 and cracking character. Plus
@Jgs_x
is soooooooo good. Every cast member is epic. WATCH!
So many people posting really beautiful things about World Radio Day. It’s the best job in the world, I’ve been lucky enough to work with the best in the business - and I can’t believe little Lou grew up to achieve her dream 📻
#WorldRadioDay2023
So do I understand this correctly? The Tory Party could now vote for a bad deal - no matter what the consequences for the public - in order for them to find a new leader?! And if the deal is worth voting for, why boot out its creator? Madness.
Wrapped up my first week as the newAfternoon Presenter across
@BBCSuffolk
@BBCCambs
@BBCNorfolk
and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. We’ve got to know each other a little better every day… and talked about everything from starting out in stand up to living funerals
I know everything is very horrible everywhere…… but I’ve had a 5 hour train journey and met 6 lovely people who went out of their way to be kind and helpful, friendly and neighbourly.
So there is that ❤️
📻 Thank you so much to the lovely people of Cambridgeshire who have taken me into your homes over the last 18 months. In March 2020 I made some massive life decisions at a scary time and yesterday’s
#RAJAR
figures showed how welcome you made me. Thank you 📻
Massive shout out to all the BBC Local Radio teams showing up for work with a massive smile on their faces, ready to knock it out of the park as always…. Knowing that this morning we find out our fate!!
In 2018, Laura was told she may only have a year to live but she's been defying the odds and ticking off her bucket list. She wanted to present the weather so
@owainwynevans
welcomed her to BBC North West Tonight. Click the video to see what happened:
Starting a new radio project tomorrow - talking about grief .... really proud it’s happening but hoping I can keep myself together..... will let you know when it’s on
Jim Bowen was the first presenter I ever worked with as a freelancer for
@BBCLancashire
. He took me under his wing and encouraged me to pursue a presenting career in London. I can never eat egg sandwiches without thinking of him. Rest in Peace Jim xx ❤️
For the first time in a long time (4 years maybe??) It feels like the nation has had the same collective response to something.... and that we are united in our visceral responses to the Dominic Cummings story..... I don’t *think* I am in an echo chamber for this one....
Oh my LORD
@WaitressLondon
is a JOY!! Jack McBrayer steals every scene but it’s a phenomenal cast. Plus I was sitting near Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael Caine & Cuba Gooding Jr !! And there was PIE!
This is just stunning. We all need to live like George, and have a friend like Sophie. What a beautiful piece.
George taught me so much about living - I will miss him terribly
Didn’t want to post this until I was officially on the Wall of Hope - but I GOT MY VACCINE 🎉🎉🎉 God bless science, scientists, medics, nurses and everyone involved in this jaw dropping effort. So happy to be on this wall.
I’ll never be a social media influencer. I went swimming with dolphins on holiday and rather than posting “inspirational life goals” pics, all I want to do is show you the bruises I got when I fell off the speedboat.
