If regulators had seen the Sep22 pensions crisis coming - and Truss had been warned - she would have cancelled the mini-Budget.
But no one did see it coming, so it suited a great many people to blame Truss for the whole debacle.
Basically, if you’re a man who wears a mask, you’re broadcasting the fact that you have been fucked in the ass by your girlfriend. And that is not something to be proud of.
Well, I’ve just read the government’s 60 page document, and it was an hour well spent. It’s thorough, detailed and objective with remarkably clear English. These Command papers usually take months to prepare and this has been done in - what, a couple of weeks? Impressive.
I would like you, Martin, to stop using words like “catastrophe,” and instead advise people take sensible steps to reduce the effect on their families and businesses.
And stop pretending that governments can do everything.
They can’t.

You never spoke a kind word to me. Many of your Labour colleagues did: they recognised a working class girl in a heavily male Commons. You didn’t cos I wasn’t one of your committed Marxists, so I didn’t exist.
When I campaigned for Remain a lifetime ago, I was disappointed no-one argued positively about EU as the greatest association of free nations the world has ever seen. But it has to be a willing link, not enforced through fear. Ref showed UK voters wanted out, and we must do it.
No, Anna, this is what a protest march looks like. Democracy involves electoral registers, ballot boxes, bits of paper..oh, and promises in advance to accept the result. We had all this in June 16.. remember?
This is what democracy looks like! Thank you for marching & all the work you do - people did not vote for

Well, our local Labour MP wants to abolish private schools. It’s OK, she’s completed her 9 years at Millfield (£30,000 fees pa). Hypocrisy...? You could say so..

I have to say that Kay Burley and Beth Rigby are massive hypocrites on their high horses lecturing about rule breaking and telling us they think Boris should resign. They clearly have zero self-awareness.
Dear Sophie
What we earned was the right to a state pension.
It isn’t funded, it’s paid out of current taxes.
So younger people are paying our pensions.
Do try and get your facts right, dear.
And the quicker these killers and rapists and drug barons are sent home.. the better. They’re not going to vote for you, Caroline. And neither are their victims.
These people were taken from their homes, put on a plane & sent to a country they may have little or no contact with
All had served their sentences. Many have been here since childhood

I campaigned for Remain.
We lost.
Our democracy required us to fulfill that ambitious change.
We can do very well out of it, and that's already obvious.
OK?

Oh for Pete’s sake. Three former Labour Ministers gone done for cash for access 2010: Geoff Hoon, Stephen Byers, Patricia Hewitt...ex-Labour minister Elliot Morley went to jail over his expenses.. along with Jim Devine + David Chaytor
You’ve got a short bloody memory, my Lord.
I voted Remain.
But if there's a 2nd Referendum before we even try to honour the result of the 1st, then I will vote Leave purely as a protest against this ongoing attempt to defy & destroy British democracy.
I suspect I'm not alone.

Please can you explain “limit contact with other people”. Does this mean we can have contact with other people as long as we keep it limited? What is the limit? Which other people? Because all of a sudden there is no mention of keeping contact within households.
If they've got this backbone, belief in conservatism, sense of decency or patriotic duty, then they'll support the Prime Minister as we move at last to getting Brexit done. Then, and only then, can we all move on ....
We must hope there are sufficient Tory MPs left with backbone, belief in conservatism, sense of decency or simply the patriotic duty to resist Johnson’s bullying, lies & contempt for democracy in this fight for our future - my

So now you know.. British teachers are better paid and work far fewer hours than in most similar countries.
The 2022-2023 salary for a new teacher is £28k, rising to £38k after 5 years’ experience.
Teaching used to be called a vocation. Now..?
I come from a family of strivers, in post war Liverpool. Strivers need a free society to succeed. Under socialism, however hard you work, you’ll never get anywhere; it’ll all be taken from you and frittered away by an idiot government. That’s why I’m a Tory.

As for Antoinette Sandbach..when I was out campaigning for Remain 2016 in Chester, she appeared for 5 mins at our street stall. Photo taken with the tee shirt. Whispered, “I haven’t told my constituents,” sidled off again. Such fervour! We lost. LibDems, you’re welcome to her...
The tragic irony is that France is a willing participant in the illegal trafficking of migrants through France to the UK.
If France stopped them, processed applications, sent home those with no claims .. but they don’t, because they don’t want trouble.
But they’ve got it, big.
Polish PM Morawiecki writes on Twitter:
“Shops looted, police cars set on fire, barricades in the streets - this is now happening in the center of Paris and many other French cities. We don't want such scenes on Polish streets (…) Stop illegal migration. Safety first”

Here’s a puzzle. How come Diane Abbott’s expenses are over £20,000 more than her leader’s? Why does she need more.. whatever it is she’s using our money for?
Jeremy Corbyn’s expenses claim stood at an eye-watering £174,114.43 from the 1 Oct 2017 — 30 Sep 2018
Diane Abbott’s overall expenses from 1 Oct 2017 — 30 Sep 2018 were £195,700

Not a single member of the Tory Party voted for this amendment, which would have allowed unaccompanied refugee children to be reunited with their families after Brexit. A moral test that they failed - monstrous behaviour rooted in their callous, hard right dogma. Shame on them.

It is also stupid. Joe Biden will no doubt remember this if, as looks likely, he becomes the next President of the United States.
Maybe she’s been told to stay put for the time being, as there has to be someone called the PM. But it wouldn’t be the first time somebody else has been running the country.
This interview with Liz Truss by

British politics for the next generation will divide into those who resisted Brexit, & those who promoted or appeased it. I will never fully trust or respect anyone who wasn’t in the resistance from the beginning
I think this is very sad.
He’s correct - the Minister’s office is not like any other workplace.
The elected government has to take difficult decisions - that’s what they’re elected to do.
Civil servants however able or convinced they’re right - are not in charge.
Spot on, Michael.
That’s why this is so political.

Be under no illusion. The man in the middle cannot make *any* decisions on lockdown rules unless the two men on either side agree to back that decision in public. The advisers have become the decision makers. I don't remember voting for Whitty or Vallance. Do you?
