Dying because you have to go to work is political. Dying because you are not protected at work is political. Being poor because you cannot work is political. Talk of having to ration healthcare in a crisis is political. Deflecting blame onto workers in a crisis is political.

I know some love the pomp, but when there are 14m people in poverty; when there are 1.6m foodbank parcels being handed out a year; when there are rough sleepers in every corner of our cities, I can’t help finding the opulence on display in Parliament today deeply uncomfortable.

Why open the pubs on a Saturday? Why not a Tuesday or Wednesday? Why on earth call it super Saturday? There are tens of thousands of people who have died and the government do not have a grip of this crisis. There is zero strategy behind what is happening in England.

I just feel like there is a real grossness to the state driven Jubilee celebration fanfare. People are skint, getting so much more skint & full of worry & we are supposed to go out & celebrate 70 years of unadulterated, unaccountable wealth, privilege, power & exploitation? Nah.

This afternoon, I made a point of order, questioning use of Chamber time to obsess over a lip reading of @jeremycorbyn - transparently a tactic to divert attention from Govt's shambolic rule. I think most of my constituents, like voters all over the UK, will find this pathetic.

Deeply hurtful & offensive comments by @BorisJohnson . In my work, I’ve met with many who’ve suffered the most horrific sexual abuse. To say resources spent on bringing them justice is "spaffing money up the wall” is beneath contempt. Not fit for public office, simple as that.

I don’t agree with one penny of public money being spent on the Kings Coronation. Apart from wanting the abolition of the Monarchy, 14 million people are in poverty, homelessness is rife, over 2,500 foodbanks. We don’t need the gross spectacle of unearned wealth & power.

Brilliant from Tony Benn: "Now. the word socialism is spat out on the media as if it was a sort of disease. But...it's about trying to construct a society round production for need and not just for profit. Around meeting people's needs. That's what it's about..."

These two women spoke so powerfully on #bbcqt last night. It was emotional listening to them - a reminder that the real experts, be it on knife crime or youth services, come from our communities & that’s where we should start in looking for solutions:

Nothing better typifies the current state of things than funding being made available for free framed pictures of the King - to be placed in crumbling schools & the public buildings of councils that are going bankrupt. Their priorities are not our priorities.

Why on earth are some even entertaining an easing of the lockdown? We must demand widening it to a shut down of all non-essential work. The conditions for an easing do not exist yet. Mass testing, contact tracing, physical distancing and eventual vaccination are the priorities.

Important: around 20% of people don't return their postal vote. If you have missed the deadline or just forgotten, don’t worry. You can still complete the form & take it (in the envelope supplied) to the polling station by 10pm tonight. Your vote will still count. #GE2019

Don’t forget, Iain Duncan Smith is the man behind almost every cruelty visited on the poor & disabled in this country over the last decade. The fact that he’s rewarded with a knighthood shows the moral bankruptcy of this political system. Stomach churning.

There are people in this country who can’t afford to eat because of their policies & rotten ideology. But you know, mince pies or pigs in blankets? 😳
