🚨🚨Lost for words again. The danger that patients, like the one below, are put in when assessed by a PA instead of a doctor can lead to serious morbidity or death. Is this what we want for our families? Replacing doctors with PAs will be the medical scandal of this century.

⚠️This is huge. There have been 12 Never Events linked to PAs in Scotland. Scotland has *143* PAs The NHS had 407 NEs (likely mostly doctors) in a year. The UK has 376,000 docs If PA NE ratio was extrapolated to doctors that’d be 31,552 Never Events What’s coming is scary ☠️

PAs are clinical support workers. Medicine is so complicated and such high-stakes that a 2 year degree is necessary to even support doctors. PAs are never qualified to assess, diagnose, or manage patients and it has gotten out of hand.

Can we go back to advising MEDICAL SCHOOL for those who want to play Doctor please? I’d want my invasive cardiology procedures performed by a… you guessed it, Cardiologist‼️ No patient deserves less than that Tweet now deleted - @UHLRRCV can’t stand by your practices?

Terrible. This will happen more and more. Just read the confusion of people turning to online forums to find answers about PAs. ❌This is dangerous❌

🚨 For all the consultants refusing to strike, I’d love to say here’s a vision of the future - but sadly it’s the present: Consultant Cardiologist offered £33-53K TRAINEE Advanced NP: £50-57K The UK needs switched off (NB how can you be a ‘Trainee Advanced’ anything?)

FAO GPs in the UK❗️ Unfortunately you’re no longer required due to ‘new ways of working’. Don’t worry though, nobody is replacing doctors, and if you’re against MAPs - you’re a bully.

They money is there. I’m so glad the MP strikes were successful and they’ve now got almost £5,000 added to their annual salary. They did have to strike didn’t they?

Bizarre email message from Consultant anaesthetist to AAs & PAs: ‘You are our people, we stand with you, we have your back.’ Implied message to doctors who they’re supposed to train, and patients they’re supposed to care for: ‘F*** You.’ ?Almost as bad as the HMS AA

‘The way patients are cared for is changing’. It’s changing in that you will now see someone with a 2 year course instead of a medical degree, when you go to your GP practice. Did the UK public consent to this? Shameful.

2/4: The way that patients are cared for is changing & it’s important that the way we train doctors changes too. This will help to develop a supported workforce that can meet future patient needs. In a new blog @drcolinm explores why we’re pushing for increased flexibility in…

This should scare us all. A YEAR ONE PA seeing ‘back pain that turned into pins and needles’ ‘The doctor got me a room and let me see a lot of his patients on my own and just refer to him on management and ask him to prescribe and refer.’ Lump over ‘voice box’… 🤯🤯🤯

Lol. I give up. Who says you should spend years studying complex diseases, and simple diseases, and complex diseases that present as simple diseases, to treat those with complex diseases, simple diseases, and complex diseases that present as simple diseases?

They actually believe this. They think they have something to teach the ST8 neurosurgeon. The hubris is unmatched by any other profession. The whole thing needs uprooted and thrown away, there’s no salvaging it.

I love seeing PA propaganda like this. It gives us an insight into their hubris. Every doctor that graduates is competent for safe service provision. Knowing how to print something doesn’t make you safe, not prescribing propranolol to the “anxiety” patient makes you safe.

It is extremely satisfying to come on X and see the hundreds of profiles, anon and not, doing their bit to expose and hold to account the corruption of our ‘leaders’ in UK medicine. I absolutely believe they’ll crumble soon. I’m emotional 🥲.

In a WhatsApp group of ~600 GPs, this is the current sentiment, and it’s horrific. I actually can’t believe what I’m reading. And I feel bad for those that were fooled into employing these roles - the consequences are being felt by all. This is utter madness. Read every word.

🚨URGENT🚨 We’ve missed public consultations in the past - not this one. NHSE is trying to sneak through a Public Consultation, which somehow only seems to have reached the inboxes of MAPs. Forever-expanding scope ‼️Let’s give them OUR responses: ➡️
