Thinking about my worst medical experience and remembered the time as an F1 when a patient was exsanguinating on the ward with an INR >10, and I went running to the Blood Bank to get some FFP and O neg, only to find the lab was on fire. Every day has been better since.

I’ve had bad anxiety for the past couple of years. I’ve not been able to pinpoint exactly what the exact triggers were, but it has been affecting my sleep, my relationships with friends and family, and I’ve felt increasingly dissociated. Today I’ve finally asked for some help.

Lived in London for 12 years and never had any issues. Tonight a man decided to start on me on the tube for no reason and tried to hit me. My 62 year old Mum punched him in the chest twice and my 67 year old Dad chased him down the platform.

Today I had a young Turkish man come and see me. He wanted to bring me a gift to thank me for all the help and support I’d given to him these past few years, and he knew I’d bought a home recently. Normally we drown in complaints and this just really made my day. #teamGP

On my way to my 12th (and final) session of CBT. I genuinely feel better in myself. I’ve stopped catastrophising as much, and I’m actually sleeping though the night for the first time in years. It’s been challenging but I’m so glad I had the balls to do it.

I was always against suspending routine GP work, but if we manage to get hold of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in the next few weeks, then I would gladly work as many hours as possible to try and get our entire practice population immunised. I think we need to get GPs mobilised.

@AVintenAuthor Frustrating for you but vital for us. I’ve seen a woman deny she was pregnant and then have a cardiac arrest from a bleeding ectopic. Absolutely terrifying experience for all. We don’t really have much say in how these questionnaires are designed, though.

At least 10 requests for urgent appointments today for hay fever. All directed to pharmacy (seeing as everything available to buy over the counter), but so much kickback due to cost and a lot of verbal complaints. That would be nearly a whole GP session taken up.

I’m trying to figure out why I am mourning. The queen’s death feels similar to losing a grandparent; but I also feel like it represents how our country is losing its way. I haven’t recognised our country these past few years. The queen dying feels like a further dissociation.

I now have 17 days off work. This is the longest stretch of annual leave since 2019 and it is truly deserved. I am off to Bangkok to meet my friends for an 18-40 holiday. I’m looking forward to lying by the pool, reading multiple books, and going to bed at 10pm every night.

I love how American doctors have full on professional headshots done. On my smart card I have one eye slightly shut and I’m grey because I have one of the worst hangovers of all time. Also, I’ve never been able to change it and that image will be haunt me until I die/retire.

I’ve said this before but will say it again. My top tip for winter is to invest in an electric blanket/throw. You can use them for the sofa and for the bed, and they cost pennies to run compared to using gas central heating. Our energy bills dropped significantly.

It’s been over 14 years since we all started as house officers in North Manchester General Hospital. These were the girls that came to my aid when I had a patient with DIC and I came running into the mess covered in blood and screaming for help.

Today marks just over 6 months of regular therapy. I’ve reached a point where I genuinely feel good about myself and have noticed my anxiety has significantly reduced. It hasn’t all gone- but I’ve made such progress and feel really chuffed about it.

I qualified in 2007 and our consultant took the whole team out for a slap up meal during my first rotation. I’d never been anywhere fancy before and my meal was brought out first. I still see the look of horror on their faces when I just tucked in without a care in the world.

vilify us at every step of the way. We are being scapegoated as the reason for huge waits in A&E (despite seeing more patients and dwindling numbers of GPs). If a person went to hospital with chest pain or a suspected stroke, they would rightly be prioritised and seen ASAP.
