The number of people without any medical training commenting on this with the wrong diagnosis is worrying
If you don’t know, that’s OK! but please don’t give medical advice if you are not trained appropriately
Please

Why can’t the UK look at PAs in other countries and incorporate them supporting clinical practice, instead of replacing doctors ?
Canadian PAs are differently integrated in care
@birgitomo
And even if you did send them through working time, you are entitled to breaks and what you do on those breaks is your own business
Don’t accept the premise of their criticism
I sometimes wonder who the present consultants want to be treated by when they get old
And
Where and how the public thinks doctors get trained to be the experts they finally are
#doctorstrike
#NHS
How to get across to
#medstudents
and anyone else that I don’t want to be called by my first name if I haven’t invited them to do so?
Do I have to sign myself as Dr Jemec to avoid this, instead of my whole name?
@karolinaviolet
You know what? Even if it was just about the money, I would still back you
The time where a respected profession like nursing cannot make ends meet, needs action
Full stop
@bfhermann
@nickmmark
I did enough to know my opinion isn’t valid here
That’s the difference
We are hopefully good at what we do, and if we stay in our own lane
We need to

other specialities and let them lead on the things they know most about
This is not the hill you want to die on
@RoshanaMN
We did all of that & still my husband got
#Covid
, ended up on ITU & took 5 months to recover.
He could not walk more than a couple of meters before he had to sit down
Could not shower without a chair in the cubicle to sit down on.
He is a fit 50 yo
I am so grateful he is alive
Isn’t it funy how we buy lottery tickets and are convinced we’ll win
And then ignore social distancing and think we won’t get

When you are so much more likely to get
#COVID19
than ever winning the lottery

@OGdukeneurosurg
Really?
I make sure I am hydrated and that I have emptied my bladder
This isn’t some kind of weird competition of “I did the longest”
When I am hungry and thirsty or need a bathroom break I need to take it bc if I don’t- I am less attentive and effective
#Stop
@DrEilidhMaria
I genuinely want to know who the people who say Drs should be wiping down MDT rooms think are doing th doctoring in the meantime
Who will do my operations when I am busy cleaning?
@VaasTheHyena
@DrLongissimus
You always want to see all the pieces whether they are attached or not to check the level of bony destruction
Can do the X-rays individually or together
Helps determine replantability
@kjdelay1
1. Not much choice these days: scrubs for everyone
2. You didn’t think this through, did you?

surgeons don’t tend to wear shirt and ties anyway….

@GavinPrestonMD
I know you mean well but here’s the thing: women, POC &people who are just not white men often have to prove they are what we say we are &the title,the letters behind our names does that for us
yes be kind and humble, but we want the same respect which you command naturally too
Have asked
@amazon
why it is possible to obtain lanyards & buttons claiming the wearer was exempt from wearing a face covering without a doctor's certificate
Seems a dangerous and irresponsible thing to promote at the moment

What next? Disabled badges for parking?
@DianeCharlton11
@Medic_Russell
This is an excellent look
Somebody has successfully made a step in his career and taken well care of patients whilst acknowledging his mentors and team
What is there not to love?

@DrSarahClarke
Dear James
None of your thread explains what he actually does so we only have your interpretation to whether he complements or takes trainees’ opportunities
What does supporting the ward round mean?
What are the SHOs doing whilst he assists in theatres?
See the difference?
I have always thought that Skingrafts take like a date: adhesion=attraction, imbibition=drinking, inosculation=kissing, spending the rest of your life adapting=remodelling and maturation

@Dr_Done_
It makes me really tired to have to explain why this undermines doctors and the responsibility held
Congratulations on all the PhDs and higher degrees to everyone, but please, for the sake of clarity, stop using it in the hospital
Please
@DrNeenaJha
You remember how, if you were the only one who turned up for a lecture, you got told off because "the others" hadn't?
Never understood the logic then, do not understand the logic now
#NHS
@DrGoblin3
You know what? Rarely does a patient NOT benefit by a doctor worrying about them, so I don’t think that is something you should beat yourself up about
It is the people who had a missed diagnosis who I worry about
Have the conviction of caring
It is a rare thing to be admired
@OGdukeneurosurg
If I can’t be hard because of the general hubbub or because my scrub nurse is not listening I will raise my voice sequentially
Everyone is meant to be heard when it is important for the patient
Raising once voice is not always bad
Sometimes it is necessary
#patientsafety
@joanna_neaves
Have you tried to concentrate for 12 hours straight!?
I can tell you that in surgery we need breaks
Never mind watching someone
Shorter sessions may be possible, but apart from that it is not possible
@nandwics
No
Absolutely not
This is unfair on the patient and the PA
#StopIt
This needs an experienced
#GP
and then probably a hospital admission, which could be with a number of different specialities, depending on what it is
#NotSafe
@DrNeenaJha
Do you think they actually understand what a generalist is? They can’t, can they?
I am baffled how anyone can think that little education gives you a better edge over someone with much, much more…..🤯
@chrissyfreeMD
Please write a fulsome contemporaneous report and submit it to her line manager and yours
I am sorry you had this experience
Now please make a noise about it so if there is a next time, people can see it is not " just a one off"
It takes courage to take a stance
#NotAcceptable
@aj2squared
Probably depends on the circumstances and why especially female doctors feel we have to stand up for ourselves
Repeatedly
Not to talk about my Black and Brown colleagues

This is a picture outside the RCS. This does not represent surgeons.Not all female white surgeons wear tight short skirts, and most surgeons are not under 30 and white.Where are our Oriental and Subcontinental colleagues?Where are the Consultants?

Thinking the pt had flatlined when the ECG leads were taken off-
I remember pointing aghast at the monitor trying to articulate that I thought the pt had just died, whilst the others just ignored me .... 😩
Starting emails with just a person’s name comes across as terribly rude to me, no dear, not a hi or hello
Is it cultural, age or something else?

@DrSelvarajah
I despair at the lack of understanding of each person's role and the thought that we all just seem to be interchangeable
We are not
The beauty of the MDT is that we bring different things to the table
