Worked through the 1st surge, incl. resident night shifts despite my age. VERY happy to sit this second wave out at home for 80% salary.

@mancunianmedic I’m delighted neither of my daughters are studying / planning on studying medicine. They’re both smart (eldest reading chemistry at Oxford) & would have been an asset to the NHS, but their welfare must come first & currently the NHS is an “abusive” employer.

@BigHammo @bbcnickrobinson @Conservatives If you’re referring to immigration, in my experience as a Consultant Anaesthetist for the past 20 yrs I’m far more likely to be working alongside drs & nurses from overseas than I am to be treating someone from overseas. Without these key staff we’d be even more buggered.

Of course this outcome probably hasn’t been great for those on NHS waiting lists, but the @TheBMA have vociferously highlighted this problem & the public kept voting Tory, so I can only conclude this is what the public want.

@drphilhammond It’s all pointless purgatory. The module my employer has added on is how to spot patients at risk of falls. I’m an anaesthetist; ALL my patients are at risk of falling after I’ve finished with them, that’s why I send them ➡️ wards on a trolley rather than letting them walk! FFS!
