Today, the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors FUTO Club had our second community event. This event was like no other because we had an unfair advantage. Everyone was able to connect to the internet through a Starlink router.

I completed my project defence last week. The project is basically a drone fitted with a camera to capture live footage on which an object detection model will be run on. The desired objects to be detected includes: masked people, machetes, and rifles. So basically: Bandits

I feel very proud that I was able to migrate my team's codebase from Javascript to Typescript and from normal Axios to React Query. I can finally sleep at night knowing that our app won't break in production due to runtime errors.

It's nice to see my undergrad project, detection of masked armed bandits using YoloV5, being displayed on a banner and even being extended at the department's staff level, funded by Tetfund. Funniest part is seeing my face labeled as "unmasked person".

Honest review of @SpaceX Starlink - It wasn't designed for the Nigerian environment. Not all places have constant electricity. It'd be better if it has a default battery-powered setup. - The latency is too high. You don't get an immediate response when you click on a link.

We had a peak connectivity of 40 devices and network speeds still hit 80 Mbps. The only issue we faced was the range. The farther a device is from the router, the slower the internet speed.

For the past two weeks, I have been learning how to fix cars. My learning speed was off the charts on a personal level. I always asked the 'why' questions - Why is this bolt shaped this way? - Why do I need to remove the key before removing battery?
