Pat McAfee spends all morning carnival barking, Desmond Howard goes after Dickert again after he and Corso buried it, and then McAfee claims to have "food poisoning" when he's really hungover.
What the hell happened to GameDay?
Don't know how many times I need to scream this but I'll do it again:
Jeff Foxworthy's generation ***gave the trophies to the kids***. The kids did not saunter down to the trophy shop and it themselves.
Tiffany Smiley spent months declaring the largest city in the largest county in the state she hoped to represent in the Senate basically a wasteland of homelessness and drugs and will not surprise you to learn her opponent is currently leading there at a 3:1 margin.
Last time the Cougs won an NCAA Tournament game, we all shotgunned beers in a crowded apartment.
Tonight, the same woman who got that beer for me shrieked about smacking the floor too hard because our daughter is sleeping upstairs.
Washington State forever.
I don't know who sent the email to WSU and OSU on Saturday telling them the departing members wanted to strip it for parts to pay for transition costs but:
Thank you. Thank you sooooooooo much.
"We will make our volleyball tram fly to Piscataway and Happy Valley in October in the middle of mid-terms but trust us, we care deeply about student-athlete well being."
Shortly after Nick Rolovich's announcement that he wouldn't attend Pac-12 media days, I filed a FOIA request for emails to the WSU President's Office inbox. Most were very generic, mostly supportive of the school letting Rolovich go.
This one ... uh ... stood out.
UPS delivery guy with box stamped with Coug logo: "Here you go, man. Happy holidays and Go Dawgs!"
Me: "Haha, thanks man. We've been waiting for this cheese!"
Him: "Is ... is that Cougar gold?"
Me: "It is."
Him: "...too late to take back that 'Go Dawgs' for a piece?"
Every year, that game makes me so mad.
Every year, the sanctimonious trolling from UW fans makes me angrier.
Every year, I swear I won't care as much and do better, healthier things with my life.
.... see you guys in Pullman in September.
Every day that goes by, "everyone just expected us to roll over and just jump into the Mountain West" becomes more and more true.
Powers that be really don't like that we decided to fight.
Breaking: New filings in WSU/OSU lawsuit vs.
#Pac12
include *multiple* sworn statements by Kliavkoff - and an internal doc - that show USC/UCLA were removed from board post-6/30/22, possibly establishing precedent for ‘Pac-2’ to control the conference
If not in
@CFBPlayoff
, the 10 schools leaving Pac-12 likely will still play in Pac-12 affiliated bowls next 2 years & not in bowls tied to their new leagues, sources told
@ActionNetwork
. The Pac-12 bowls: Alamo, Las Vegas, Holiday, Sun, LA & Independence
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON" someone shouted in response to the bride getting a Coug flag as a wedding toast gift.
And then 65 Cougs broke out in the fight song.
The Fairmont was not aware of what could hit them tonight.
What's your goofiest sports take that you actually kind of believe? Mine is: If the Bills want to truly get the most out of Josh Allen, they gotta build a dome.
Hey
@AlaskaAir
word on the street is that you're price gouging the Sugar Bowl and keeping Huskie fans from making the trip. This is not right. We need Purple Reign down in Nola. Do the right thing.
I've made a wager with Oregon
@GovTinaKotek
this weekend. Ducks win - I send our famous Cosmic Crisp apples. Huskies win - she sends a basket of OR treats. I can't wait to enjoy those treats. I've seen their uniforms and offered UW's laundry services to deal with those odd spots.
I am so sad we lost Kyle Smith but so, so much happier he's somewhere that he can continue his coaching dreams and have the best possible care for his son.
Former WSU coach Kyle Smith gets emotional talking about the resources Stanford can provide for his autistic son, 13-year-old Bo, particularly the university’s autism center
"I swear USC and UCLA can't vote, otherwise I've perjured myself" seems like a pretty significant statement from the commissioner of the league but I dunno, I just went to a farm school.
News: In a sworn statement in the Comcast case, commissioner George Kliavkoff said USC and UCLA had been removed from
#Pac12
board - a potentially significant development for the WSU/OSU lawsuit
Cam Ward finished with 11.88 yards per attempt tonight.
He also finished with six incompletions and five total touchdowns.
A flabbergastingly good performance.
And what conference with the University of Washington be participating in during the next athletics season?
I assume it's the Pac-12 because integrity matters.
Wife asked as we rolled past Issaquah what time we would arrive in Pullman, even factoring in a stop for food and gas in Ellensberg.
I said 9:05. She didn't believe me.
We rolled into the hotel parking lot at 9:05.
Never, EVER question me on drive times.
Does Gen X really think these trophies just materialized out of thin air for Millenials? Picked off a trophy tree planted in every yard? Shipped to them by the Clinton Administration?
With one more win this season, Kyle Smith will surpass the highest single season total Ernie Kent ever amassed.
The Cougars currently have 13 wins. That's how bad it has been.
For all the talk about market size, and Washington State University---
The WSU-Wisconsin game delivered MONSTER ratings in the SEATTLE market, ending with a 8.3/32 share in total households, and a 45 SHARE in people 18-49.
@WSUCougarFB
@pac12
Once again, demonstrating how little everyone thought this through: a vote they would need to take an AQ away from the Pac-12, which still exists as a conference with two teams ... belongs to one of the two teams and they have zero incentive to go along with it.
The latest delay in a CFP format change - which needs unanimity - is a proposal from WSU president Kirk Schulz seeking guarantees of voting rights/revenue distribution for Pac-12/Pac-2 beyond 2025, sources tell
@YahooSports
.
It has been met with pushback.
They REALLY don't like it because the secret is no one really thought any of this through and it took us hiring one attorney who went "Uh, you guys have some leverage" for everyone else to realized they might have royally screwed this up.
I swear, if I see one more "whats wrong with leaving with what we put in" argument of a fan of departing Pac-12 school ...
Newsflash: the TV partners, NCAA, etc. paid the **conference**.
Maybe don't leave if you want your cut.
I wrote it out.
It's insane. You'd know in the next couple weeks if it won't work. There would be pain. The football schedule may not even be possible.
BUT ... my God, it would be incredible if it **did** work.
Big Ten releases five years worth of conference opponents with USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington and someone will still have the stones to say "we have not given formal notice".
Important for WSU/OSU: "Both institutions will be included as part of the WCC’s media rights agreements."
So now you're just shopping home football games for the next two years. Takes a lot of burden off the table.
So, to recap, that's:
-Previous AD left for USC
-Previous football coach leaves for Alabama
-Basketball coach fired
-New AD leaves after 5 months on the job
And the aforementioned football coach likely led (partially) to leaving the Pac-12.
It's going great!
Sources: Nebraska is finalizing a six-year deal to make Washington athletic director Troy Dannen the school’s new athletic director. The hiring of Dannen gives Nebraska an immediate replacement for Trev Alberts, who left for Texas A&M last week.
WSU and OSU’s approach to all of this will likely result in burning bridges with the 10 schools that used to be part of the Pac-12 and that are now part of 3 different major conferences.
These schools will likely not schedule them going forward if they continue the path of
The Apple Cup continuing is actually more hilarious when you consider WSU and UW are actively suing each other over the very issue that required them to agree to continue playing the game.
WSU’s issue isn’t just media value (viewership/market), it’s the combination of geography and media value. Former doesn’t work for the Big 12 and latter doesn’t work for the Big Ten. Perfect storm

Rylee Katherine Preston, born to her adoring mother and father on July 18th at 3:09 p.m.. She and mom are resting at home and doing well.
ESPN: At least indirectly responsible for nuking the Pac-12
Fox: Responsible for pushing the button that launched the nuke, also aimed the nuke, also built the nuke.
Big Noon Kickoff has Matt Leinart and Mark Ingram flying Ole Crimson on set after Pat McAfee dissed Wazzu last week on College Gameday.
I love college football so much 😂
As the Pac-12 as we know it currently plays its last football game, a reminder that USC fans said making the playoff was impossible because of how little support they got from the conference, like we all collectively held a gun to their head to retain Clay Helton.
One other thing worth saying on this Monday after the Lee Corso "nobody wants/watches us": we do all blame the conference, the presidents, everyone collectively. And the TV networks played a role!
But 10 other schools won't pay the price. WSU and OSU (likely) will.
I've got no idea what happened to this team during the bye week but it's something because they are just completely different in every aspect from that squad that beat Wisconsin and Oregon State.
The Red Raiders don't visit Pullman for 9 months and I'm already tired of Tech fans telling us we don't know how good we had it with Mike Leach.
WE. KNOW.
Jackson is a 4-star according to 247 and is rated as the 142nd best recruit in the 2020 class. He had offers from Arizona, Cal, Saint Mary's and Nevada.
Wow. Legit ... wow. Kyle Smith forever, man.
I would also like to thank my family,friends,coaches,and trainers who have sacrificed for me to get to this point and for supporting me and helping me through this journey. Thank you to all the schools that recruited me as well. With that being said I will be committing to WSU❤️!
I get being angry right now. Truly I do! It really looks like Wazzu got caught with their pants down and nowhere to go.
But sacking Schulz and Chun NOW ... man, that seems like a really, really bad idea.
Bill Walton in January: "Could there be a greater miscarriage of justice that could befall our rural Conference of Champion brothers than what transpired in these ancient hills? Aliens once transported me here ..."
Dave Pasch: "Mullins cans a 3, Cougs by 8."
Four and half hours away from my parents in a town thar caters exclusively to me with the opportunity to form life long bonds because of the aforementioned isolation.
You bet your sweet bippy that's what makes it great.
@gortond21
Corvallis is closer to Seattle than Pullman is.
Pullmans isolation is real. It’s hard though because a lot of cougars say this is what makes it great.
On question of the future of Apple Cup: “Seven home games is part of the economic model that UW has to have in order to be in a financial position to succeed.”

The entire affidavit is horrifying but that poor surviving roommate is going to catch way too much undeserved abuse for not calling police for 8 hours. I cannot, for one moment, imagine what kind of mental state she was in.
The good news for USC after getting throttled around by a physical team is that the conference they're moving to in 2024 is not known, like, at all for that.
