Between the comments of

on the NHS, doctors and trans rights, I have taken the regrettable step of cancelling my
@UKLabour
membership. I cannot see myself - a lifelong Labour voter and campaigner - voting for Labour in the next election.
Coming back to my Dadโs house is so shit. Itโs so empty and sad now. But this was also my childhood home.
Losing your parents is fucking shit. 0/10 would not recommend.
I am a medical doctor, and yet to find someone who supports trans rights that says biological sex doesnโt matter. But gender identity also matters, tremendously.
My practice will always be trans inclusive.
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
Biological sex matters - ask any doctor or nurse. Facts matter. Respectful debate matters.
This growing culture of shutting people down is deeply disturbing and must be challenged.
@UKLabour
Absolutely not. You do not get to invoke our community while your party leadership trashes part of that community in the media and votes against/abstained on section 35.
You are absolutely no longer the de facto party of the LGBTQ+ movement. Take out name out of your mouths.
@drandrewmackay
Had a great consultant who would often open things up when reviewing complex patients on WR with a โWhat do you all think? What am I missing? Any ideasโ or something similar.
Worked very well to encourage people to speak up in other settings too
Fellow junior doctors, please, I am begging you - do not do this.
If youโre not a formal representative of the BMA, donโt accept invitations to speak to the media on strikes.
We need a unified voice in our upcoming strike battle, and this sort of ad hoc approach will be damaging
I was on BBC News this afternoon talking about the possibility of NHS strikes. No one wants to strike but if this is what we have to do to protect our patients and ourselves, then so be it.
#SOSNHS
Okay folks, really the issue isnโt that
@NHSBartsHealth
has these facilities for their executive team. Ultimately it is good to incentivise working for the NHS
The utter insult is that thereโs SUCH a massive divide between this and the facilities and conditions for clinical staff
There have been a lot of replies here, and Iโm sorry that I canโt engage with nearly all of them. I appreciate all of the solidarity of people feeling similarly.
I would like to emphasise that simply being โnot the Toriesโ is just not good enough.
December has become such a shit shit month for me and my family. A year ago my dad died, seven years and about two weeks ago my mum died. Bad month for anniversaries.
Could really do with some smiles today if you can spare. Dogs doin dog things, kids doing kid things and the like

I mean, my community is under constant attack in the media and wider social media, to the point where it is commonplace for me and mine to be called groomers and paedophiles. And the Labour Party leadership is adding to this narrative for political points.
Iโm not supporting that
@LGBTLabour
This is frankly ridiculous and insulting to the LGBTQ+ activists who actually did something, and risked their careers, families and even lives to further LGBTQ+ rights.
To suggest that she was in any was a champion of our rights is a mockery and you should be ashamed.
Been thinking about this recently
Letโs say emergency c-section at 1am, you and your baby could be treated by:
- ST5 Obstetric Registrar & ST2 Obstetric SHO
- ST5 Anaesthetic Registrar
- ST5 Paediatric Registrar
Combined training = 45 years
Combined hourly pay = ยฃ92.68
The doctors performing a c-section are paid a total of ยฃ50 between them*.
With F1 doctors being paid ยฃ14 an hour, and ST8 doctors being paid ยฃ28 an hour, we want to hear what you get paid for completing life-saving/improving tasks.
*based on the average time taken.
Yesterday, we said goodbye to our wonderful Dad. At his funeral, we spoke of his generosity, kindness and love of friends and family.
We were able to see him off with the McGregor tartan, I suspect that he would have been overjoyed to see us all.
He will be sorely missed.
@MillieCorner2
Sad (but not surprised) to hear of your daughterโs fear. As a medical student, if she would like to join a community who will celebrate her identity please point her in the direction of

Please spread far and wide.
Trans people, this absolutely does not impact how you will currently be treated. If you need inpatient hospital care, you will be treated as per current official NHS guidance (link below).
Please access care if you need it!

Home Secretary Suella Braverman says "biological men should not have treatment in the same wards and in the same safe spaces as biological women".

Yeah because that is what we call a hate crime.
Peacefully voicing dislike of living under a monarchy is clearly not a hate crime. Get a grip
So fun news: ya boyโs now an Honorary Assistant Professor at Uni of Nottingham Med School (my old stomping ground)
Itโs been a joy to work with the school delivering LGBTQ+ health education over the last few years and Iโm really chuffed to have the recognition of this work โบ๏ธ๐ฅณ
Had a very interesting chat with a colleague recently about NHS inefficiencies and their theory (which I was very much sold on) is that many inefficiencies can be explained by lack of a clear answer to one of the following questions:
- What is the work?
- Whoโs work is it?

This sort of transphobic dog-whistle is beneath even a Tory government official.
Supporters of trans rights donโt say that biology isnโt real/doesnโt matter. The affirmation from TERFs/GCs isnโt about biological sex isnโt real, itโs the unwritten follow on that gender isnโt.
My heart lies very heavy with the news of the murder of

such a tragic blow to our community.
The final, despicable insult to this tragic story is that she will be misgendered and deadnamed in official documentation and court proceedings to follow.
This is deeply concerning from

Research cites shows 30% of trans people do not seek out antenatal care, so this information is vital to this vulnerable group.
Followers, please complain at this awful transphobic incident. Details for complaints below:

This is not only very thoughtful, but sensible management idea. Those two would feel appropriately recompensed for the additional work out in by covering the gap, and more likely that poorly staffed shifts will be picked up in future. Shame about NHS management though
@mevparekh
Ultimately, I will bow to the experience, views and expertise of ethnic minority folks. If you all feel it is a good initiative then I shall follow suit. However my initial reaction is that it seems like a cheap, ineffective and superficial approach to APPEAR inclusive.

@mina_el_naguib
This is it, this is the take that hasnโt been articulated.
Itโs not about disrespect for ACPs. So far as I can see, everyone commenting has vocalised great respect for ACP colleagues. The issue is about matching up two distinct and incompatible stances from royal colleges.

I mean, did you actually apply more than half a second of thought to the implications of this suggestion before posting this?
Seriously, the only way that you could come up with a suggestion that would be worse for UK medical staffing would be to make us work for free
@demoralisedoc
Kind of both. So I got mild symptoms and did LFT which was positive, then booked PCR which was also positive. Would have still booked the PCR even if LFT was negative though as I know they arenโt too reliable

If it is about visibility, the better option would be toโฆ employ and promote more people of various ethnic minorities? But thatโs much more institutionally challenging that just throwing out some badges right? 3/
Iโve been working on this project since it was taken over for phase 2. Iโve been blown away by the amazing people who have worked on this and itโs absolutely devastating that this has been axed.
The LGBTQ+ people of this country deserve better than this government.
We at GLADD are devastated to hear that the

I spoke to friends about this recently and they had genuinely no idea that I and many of my LGBTQ+ friends felt this way.
My sweet Queers, tell your colleagues, your friends, your loved ones. Make them know that itโs getting worse. That we are unsafe. Otherwise nothing changes.
All my life there have been security/metal detectors at gay bars/venues, and I knew theoretically this was because there are ppl out there who want to murder me, but I never truly felt unsafe before, until now.
I fear we are building up to something terrible. I donโt feel safe.
@mevparekh
Okay, I have some thoughts on this.
Firstly, the comparator here is the NHS Rainbow Badges project, which was initially set up as a project wherein people were given a badge on the proviso of reading, understanding and agreeing to a set of principles around LGBTQ+ inclusion 1/
Very symbolic that the day after the shit show of that awful government touting queerphobia in our city, Manchester responds with the โfuck youโ of opening an amazing queer community space ๐

Honestly this sounds absolutely exhausting for GPs.
Lots of as yet unanswered questions and discussions about what constitutes adequate supervision, but when we ask these questions itโs also relevant to consider the impacts of this on the supervisors. Risk of burnout?
@ann_bowman
We have a PA working with us. We go through every single case. It's a bit like working with a senior med student - helpful, but takes a lot of time and energy. There is no statutory guidance on what counts as adequate supervision - and that's risky

@mevparekh
Secondly, the NHS Rainbow Badges project was set up with the reality that LGBTQ+ people are often not visibly identifiable, and so the badge promoted visibility for this group. The same doesnโt apply for ethnicity so the assumption here is that its used as a symbol of allyship 2/
A positive thing Iโm seeing following a certain high-profile medic posting full chested transphobia is that I am seeing increasing good allyship/challenges to this sort of behaviour
