I've literally been called a fag or a fairy or queer by so many patients over my career simply because I have a higher voice and wear a pride flag. And despite this, I'm somehow able to overlook this and still take care of them.

And, again, any perceived negative political affiliation is placed there externally by that person and is rooted in misinformation. The actual pride movement is about radical acceptance of people despite their identity or orientation, but people like you are too biased to care.
I'm Mick (he/him), current pgy3 in emergency medicine. I love being an advocate for my queer patients in the ED. I also love video and board games, the outdoors and nature, and music. Happy pride month yall!

I had a young patient come in for psych issues, and when I was interviewing her, she noticed the pride flag on my ID badge. "Are you gay?" she asked, eyes widening. I said yes. "Cool, I'm lesbian!" And then we high fived 👏 These are the patients I wear the badge for 🏳️🌈

It's viewed that way by YOU. Maybe instead of making assumptions, YOU should talk to that person with the pride flag and ask them about it. Its sole purpose is to maximize inclusion and if you don't understand that, you're part of the problem.

The pride flag itself represents "I accept you for who you are." Any political movement associated with it is a byproduct of human rights campaigning. The flag was not developed as a political symbol and any political weight is put on it externally.

Month is an opportunity to celebrate each other with mutual love and respect. The diversity of the NWS family, including those in the LGBTQ+ community, bring the vital skills and perspectives that allow us to meet our mission of protecting a diverse nation.
The more Bible quotes I receive from bots and people dumb enough to be confused for bots, the louder I will be about being proudly queer. I'm so sorry my existence upsets you guys! Truly hoping y'all can seek therapy or help so you can learn and grow and become better humans. 😘
My parents were NOT surprised when I came out like at all. My mom flat out asked me if I was gay (several times) and my dad said "yeah I know we can talk about it tomorrow," and then we didn't.
Because at the end of the day, their words don't hurt me or offend me. I'm proud to be gay and their words can't take that away from me no matter how mean they say them. That is the point of embracing the term Queer.
All of these "LGB without the T" are completely missing the point. People are going to call you a queer/fag behind your back or even to your face! But it's just words. You have the power in the moment to rise above and not stoop to their level, so take the high road.

If you actually would read FR393-82-01 or FR393-92-01 and review the F4 exemption and footnote

I honestly am shocked that you have such low comprehension skills with an MD after your name. How did you get through med school, and presumably residency, without picking up empathy?
@GChristiemd
The pride flag, to me, symbolizes the freedom to be oneself and love oneself despite what society says. It's my way of supporting my queer patients without needing to say a word. If the pride flag offends someone, it is because they are misinformed about the queer community.
A city in Tennessee has banned being gay in public.
Murfreesboro, Tennessee passed an ordinance claiming that “acts of” being “homosexual” is considered “sexual conduct” and may no longer be seen in public. The law is also now being used to ban books.

The pride flag, on a lanyard, for instance, is experienced as a political declaration by patients. It does not belong in a professional, ethical doctor-patient relationship. The patients, who are often hurting, terrified and anxious, should not have to deal also with our
I'm so sick of the "LGB without the T" group and how short sighted and ignorant they are. Can we all agree they can't get laid until they come to their senses?
I've really been enjoying holding my boyfriend's hand in public and being unapologetically gay about it. We already have so many cute stories just from us being cute together in public. 🥰👬
I'm pleased to announce that my high school Spanish teacher just commented on one of my Facebook posts in Spanish. Yeah I was that kid in high school 😜

This already isn't an earnest debate because you believe a pride flag is some major political statement, when in reality it's a symbol meant to promote acceptance and inclusion. I'd love to debate it, but you'd need to agree that the pride flag is not a political statement.

I just wanna say thank you to all the great people on here I've gotten to interact with and get to know a little on here so far! I used to have deep self-confidence issues and I've only recently rediscovered loving myself and it's really nice to share it with some great peeps ☺️

A child is better off with 2 loving fathers than an unloving or neglectful heterosexual couple. Children can obtain feminine influences from more than just their biological mothers.
This rainy, cold weather isn't helping me right now but at least I've got a little bit done and feel somewhat accomplished 😄 trying to boost my mood without the sun today
