I am pleasantly surprised that after many years of being a meme (“no one is born racist”) people are reaching out and asking permission to post the photo of me and Rips and a passenger on the Paris metro. My requirement is to post the newest one too, when he became our friend.

When you support libraries, you support youth in following their dreams, reaching their potential, and open doors to endless opportunities.
On Earth Day, Wynn Bruce, a Buddhist, perished outside the Supreme Court in a self-immolation protest against climate crisis inaction.
The media needs to report this story better, and politicians need to address it.
@SethAbramson
This is why the right makes fun of liberals, not enough pushing back and standing against despicable people. There’s a big difference between not serving someone because of their sexual preferences or religion and not serving someone that supports locking babies up in jail.
I recommend looking closely at the birds flitting about the sakura blooms. You may be in for a surprise like I was today when I saw a pair of bright green birds with long tails (I haven’t figured out what they are).

Columbia and Yale scientists found the spiritual part of our brains—religion not required!
Whether your transcendent state involves a church, nature, or a stadium full of sports fans, it appears to have the same effect on the brain.
See it here:
The fallout from the coronavirus outbreak has triggered a 25% decrease in China's carbon emissions. '"In terms of the absolute volume of emissions, this is absolutely unprecedented," one researcher said.
At some point I’ll write a more detailed account of how I found him and our meeting at a cafe in Paris. For now, I wanted to say something because it’s being shared again, as it frequently does, and so if you see it you have the real story behind it.

Every US-based company that has operations in India should be speaking up. As an alum of

He doesn’t speak English and my French is terrible but guess who speaks both languages? The kid in the photo. My son translated for us over the phone and then in person.

One day I hope that we can find cures without needing to experiment on animals. I've seen a lot of macaques in Japan and I enjoy seeing them hangout in their troops.
I found him last year after deciding it was time after years of this photo being a part of our lives. It only took a couple of days after asking the Internet to help me find him. In October we were in Berlin for a conference and extended our trip to meet him in Paris.
For those following, I found my friend in 2 days thanks to kind internet people and I'm planning to meet him next month.
Thank you to everyone that aided in my quest. This journey is helping me to heal after years of being a meme and hate directed towards me.

My Mom said she has colleagues that were told not to share that they tested positive. Many teachers are calling it a "gag order." It's worth investigating.

India's first hospital for elephants, run by a non-governmental organization, opened in the northern town of Mathura.
The world is a better place because of Nonprofits and NGOs. Give generously to them.
I’m not sharing his name because he told me that he was harassed because of the photo. He was told things like he shouldn’t have been touching a white baby. People project their world view onto that moment in time, and it’s either positive or hateful.
@elroer
I know.😔 I have anxiety now. We wanted to take photos to show what’s going on here. 6ft distance, washed with sanitizer we keep with us. Definitely won’t be going back. It’s crowded everywhere we go right now. Abe said go out! And everyone has.

BCers need to start coming to grips that media here can be just as dangerous as in the US. We need a media fact check website so more informed choices can be made and people know when misinformation is spread.

Story to be updated soon with more: Am hearing that several “critical” infra engineering teams at Twitter have completely resigned. “You cannot run Twitter without this team,” one current engineer tells me of one such group. Also, Twitter has shut off badge access to its offices.
Despite how many conscientious Twitter users report when women are receiving rape and death threats, Twitter does very little if anything to stop it. Of course every so often we get a patronizing tweet from Jack suggesting otherwise.
Update: This message from a man warning, gleefully, that I may be the next journalist to be murdered, does not violate

My kid wears an N95 on the bus and in classroom with unmasked kids that had COVID and came back at 5 days. He and the few other kids that wear good masks have never had COVID whereas the kids that are unmasked repeatedly get it. It’s hard not to trust that masks work.

9 years since the Fukushima disaster and the residents that moved to other prefectures are still stigmatized because people think they are contaminated. Kids are bullied. People can’t get work. It’s horrible. Governments in both countries make it worse bc of bad communication.

In Japan they almost immediately started treating COVID like it was airborne. Then I move here and it's like living perpetually in the dark ages. I'm surprised that criminal action hasn't already been taken against more politicians and health officers for ignoring the science.

HBD, Kanon. 🎂 Ripley turned 11 last week. He also moved last year and knows how hard making friends can be. A few weeks ago, a bully punched him in the face. Thankfully the school has a no-bullying policy and is helping him. We hope your school is helping you, too.

Locals are expected to remain local and chastised for traveling 2 hrs from home to their cabin (e.g., Castlegar mayor), but people from out of province come here without quarantining and move freely. The lack of consistency and perceived unfairness is why people ignore orders.

Every person concerned about sports fairness in schools doesn’t actually want to help kids or any transgender person. They’re making up problems before they happen.
@JM_Whiteside
Why do you refuse to acknowledge students, parents and teachers who don’t feel safe? I can’t explain to my friends that live in Japan, other parts of Canada and the US where kids wear masks in class why it’s different here. The exceptionalism is unjustified.
@adriandix
Why isn’t mask wearing required in shops and restaurants? There’s enough research now that indicates air droplets are the primary cause of transmission and in close contact primarily indoors. Masks are the best way to protect everyone.
BTW, Bernie is winning in Japan. It's not even a contest. My suspicion is that every single American in Japan now knows what affordable health care is and wants their fellow citizens back home to have it too.

As a renter I can say that too many landlords treat their renters like a pay-check and don’t maintain their properties. It’s been three years and my landlord hasn’t fix anything I’ve asked for bc she’s “busy with 60 doors” and the BC tenants board doesn’t help.
@frozen
You will be hard pressed to find a Canadian that repatriated last year from Japan, China, Taiwan and S Korea that understands or agrees with her mask policies. It's unfortunate that one person can yield power without accountability especially when other experts in BC disagree.
