Many British Columbians come from farming families in India & it's been stressful for them to witness reaction to farmers' peaceful protests. I understand their anguish & hope everyone is safe. I strongly believe in the democratic process & hope a peaceful solution is found soon.
It's been the honour of my life to serve as Premier of BC. I've tried my level best to make a positive difference in people's lives.
I'm looking forward to spending more time with Ellie, serving as an MLA, and going back to being John from Langford.
Thank you, for everything.
Being the Premier of BC is not a job I ever expected, but it’s been the honour of my life.
Having just beat a second round of cancer, I’ve made the tough call not to run in the next election.
By working together and caring for each other, we've accomplished a lot. Thank you.
They had the phasers on stun and my treatment is complete.
So grateful for the compassion and professionalism of the
@BCCancer
team and health workers across BC under incredible strain right now.
A little less robust than before, but feeling better every day. See you soon!
I've been here before and I'm not alone. People across BC receive news like this every day.
My message to all British Columbians: if you're concerned about something, don't put it off. Please get it checked as soon as you can.
Thank you again for the well wishes. Your support gives me strength and humbles me.
I look forward to being back in the legislature and travelling in the new year, as we continue building a stronger BC for everyone.
This morning I tested positive for COVID-19.
Fortunately, my symptoms are mild and that is thanks to being fully vaccinated.
I’m following public health guidance, isolating and working from home until my symptoms resolve.
None of us are happy we're in a global pandemic.
If you want to yell at me, I get it. I signed up for this.
But to those hurling threats at our tireless public health officials: your parents would be ashamed.
My friend
@theJagmeetSingh
always stands up for what's right. Far too often, the person calling out racism is punished instead of real action being taken against the systemic problem. It's appalling that he's now being asked to apologize.

Masks may no longer be required, but many people will still choose to wear them in some settings around others.
I'll be one of them.
Let's respect everyone's comfort levels and continue to get through this together.
Our government fought hard to get the 🇨🇦🇺🇸 border closed, and it needs to remain closed until the US gets a handle on this pandemic. We cannot risk the progress we've made to keep British Columbians healthy and safe.
Our progress during the pandemic comes from all British Columbians doing their part to keep each other safe and healthy.
Here's Dr. Bonnie Henry featured in a
@CNN
story on the Canadian response to COVID-19.👇
Thank you very much to everyone who has sent their well wishes. 🙏
The incredible efforts of our health workers have me feeling confident and grateful. We need to ensure that our public health care system is there for anyone who needs it.
We are shocked watching the violence south of the border today. Intimidation cannot be permitted to disrupt democratic institutions. This violent disorder should be denounced by all those who believe in democracy.
I am honoured and humbled to be the Premier of British Columbia. Thank you for this opportunity to keep working and delivering for people. I will keep doing my level best to lift people up, all over the province.

I'm disappointed the NHL playoffs won't be coming to Vancouver, but we will not bend the rules on public health guidelines and risk the progress we've made. Protecting the health and safety of people in BC is our number one priority.

Just got my AstraZeneca shot!
It was easy, safe and I'm feeling good. I encourage all British Columbians to get one when it's their turn.
The vaccines are safe and they're helping to save lives. The best vaccine is the first one offered to you.
Dr. Bonnie Henry's warmth & skill in communicating to British Columbians is backed up with a tremendous depth of expertise, and we're grateful to have her helping guide our decisions throughout the pandemic.

This is a dark day.
Russia’s attack on Ukraine is an unprovoked war of aggression and must be condemned. I join the PM and allied nations in deploring this illegal and unjust war.
We stand with the people of Ukraine, and the many people in BC with family and friends there.
I always try to act in the best interests of British Columbians. That involves always listening, and taking responsibility when you make the wrong call. This is one of those times.
Today I'm announcing that we're stopping the plan for a new

Glad to see political cooperation designed to help people. Congratulations to
@theJagmeetSingh
&
@JustinTrudeau
for working together on a plan that focuses on need for investments in healthcare.
The Premiers are ready to meet with Ottawa to reach agreement on new health funding.
All of us as British Columbians are in this together.
No one under quarantine or self-isolation should have to worry about keeping their job.
We'll be introducing legislation to ensure no worker in BC can be fired for following the direction of the provincial health officer.
My Mom sacrificed a lot to help me get ahead. She raised me, my sister, and my two bothers on her own after my Dad died when I was a baby.
I owe a lot to her and miss her very much. She was my best teacher and my biggest fan.
Wishing all the Moms across BC a Happy Mother’s Day.
A school district in B.C.’s Southern Interior says all schools in its zone will be in lockdown mode starting Monday after COVID vaccine protesters entered three schools on Friday.
Every worker should be able to take a sick day when they need it.
Beginning on January 1, BC will be the first province in 🇨🇦 with a minimum of five days of paid sick leave every year.
Last night, Canada honoured me with a Governor General's Award and this video. I'm not crying. It's just maple syrup.

I'm a wreck.
People of British Columbia! Please do not go out to parties and BBQs and other large gatherings! The COVID is still out there! It’s more fun to hang out alone and smoke weed and watch movies and TV shows anyway! Do that instead! Thank you!
Heading to Alaska? You don't go through Port Renfrew. 🚫
We don't want to make it hard to get home - but no stopping to enjoy the sights in BC along the way.
Our int'l border is closed to visitors and we're working to keep it that way for now to protect British Columbians.
Dr. Henry is an extraordinary leader whose expertise and guidance has been critical to keeping people safe and healthy.
I know some will disagree with decisions made by our government, but no one has the right to harass or threaten a dedicated public servant.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says hateful and violent comments made towards her have been "incredibly challenging" and have impacted her family and colleagues.
The latest on COVID-19 in B.C.:
After speaking with

yesterday about the NHL’s return-to-play plan, I’m pleased to confirm the enhanced health measures being put in place for the upcoming season mean games can safely be played here in BC.
Lets go

This is the answer I wish I gave on stage. Saying "I don’t see colour" causes pain and makes people feel unseen. I’m sorry. I’ll never fully understand, as a white person, the lived reality of systemic racism. I’m listening, learning, and I’ll keep working every day to do better.
Unfortunately this little guy can’t help heal people in real life. So please use droids to communicate, keep two lightsabers apart, and when you can't, wear a mask or a stormtrooper helmet.

I'm lucky that the sage advice of
@carolejames
won't be far away. She's agreed to continue serving British Columbians for $1 as a Special Advisor, so her experience will continue to guide our work keeping people safe and building a recovery for everyone.
I had a frank discussion with
@JustinTrudeau
and
@RachelNotley
this morning. I made it clear that I will continue to stand up for the interests of British Columbians and defend our economy, our coast and inland waters from the risk of a diluted bitumen spill.

Our

government has put an immediate halt to the importing and sale of Russian liquor products from BC Liquor Stores and BC liquor distribution centres.
We stand with those who want to live in peace and against those who commit deplorable and illegal acts of aggression.
As long as I am Premier, MSP fees will never come back. The BC Liberals doubled MSP premiums, making families pay huge bills just to get basic care. We got rid of it and saved families up to $1,800 every year.

We're incredibly grateful to have Nigel as the sign language interpreter for BC's COVID-19 updates.
Get to know him and the importance of his expressive captioning in this story 👇
Dr. Bonnie Henry is the calm, measured voice you've seen providing updates on COVID-19.
British Columbians are lucky to have her expertise leading our response to the situation.
Get to know BC's provincial health officer better here ⬇️
People want to be able to stay in their cars on
@BCFerries
and have done so safely for several months. This decision by Transport Canada just doesn't work for people here in BC and we're going to push to get it fixed.
This is much bigger than sports. Credit to
@Canucks
players + other athletes for taking a stand, helping call attention here at home & in the US to issues of systemic racism. We must continue to listen, learn & work together to implement the change needed for a better future.
Congratulations to

Even if you haven’t been following the Provincial Health Officer’s direction on social distancing, now is the time for every British Columbian to do so.
Do it for the ones you love. Do it for the ones you don’t know. We need everyone together in this response.
Booked my appointment! I’ll be getting the AstraZeneca vaccine at a local pharmacy tomorrow.
Let's show all British Columbians that the best vaccine is the one that's available to you now.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an icon for so many people around the world. She was a champion for women's rights and worked tirelessly to build a more progressive and just world for everyone.
RBG will be missed, but we are all better for her legacy.
The first vaccine doses are just days away. About 4,000 high-risk people in BC will be immunized by end of next week.
Tomorrow, I'll be joined by Dr. Bonnie Henry & Health Minister
@adriandix
to update how an immunization program will help keep British Columbians healthy & safe.
My boys are grown up now (...and I've lost most of that hair), but Christmas is still a special time of the year.
Like you, I'll be enjoying time with family in small, safe groups or through the marvels of virtual communication that we didn't have back when this 📸 was taken.
If you refuse to listen to Dr. Henry and medical science, get a water taxi by yourself, buy a boat - whatever.
But do not put people at risk because you don’t believe that COVID-19 exists.
This is vile, racist behaviour. If this is how you treat people, you are the problem.
Racism is a scourge and we must stand together against it to build a better province.
From
@infotelmmedia
- an antivaxxer in Kelowna hurling racist insults at a Sikh security guard who was working at a COVID immunization centre. He tells the guard "shut up. Go back to India. You're not Canadian, you're disgusting".

Oil and gas companies have made huge profits, while people have faced high fuel costs and the effects of climate change.
We knew this had to change. The system is broken.
That's why we're eliminating the largest fossil fuel subsidy in BC.
Thinking of my friend Jack Layton, who passed away nine years ago today.
Our commitment to building the better world he believed in is stronger than ever. Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.
MEC was founded here in BC and has been a big part of the lives of British Columbians who love the outdoors. It's sad to see Canada's largest co-op being sold off to a U.S. firm without consulting the millions of members.
The interests of British Columbians — and all Canadians — should come before those in Texas boardrooms. I will continue to fight to defend BC jobs, our economy and environment – now, and for future generations.

Thinking of my mom, Alice, who served in World War II. She was posted to communications at the Patricia Bay Airfield, which we now know as Victoria International Airport.
With more snow on the way for much of BC, I hope everyone is taking extra time when they head out.
Guess the Legislature should have got a snow blower instead of a wood chipper. 😉
When we took over in 2017, BC had one of the lowest minimum wages in Canada.
Now it's the highest of any province.
And going forward, increases will be tied to the rate of inflation.
We’re making sure BC workers do not get left behind.
Having an addiction is not a crime, and we need a national plan for helping reduce the systemic stigma that too often prevents people from accessing the services they need.
When Ellie told me she was pregnant, I was petrified. But looking back now, it's hard to remember being an exhausted new father. I just see my grown-up sons and think about how grateful and proud I am to be their Dad.
Happy

to all the Dads in BC!
I'm with you,
@VanCityReynolds
- changing the clocks sucks.
We've always said it makes sense for BC to stay aligned with our southern neighbours in WA, OR and CA. Once they get congressional approval, we'll end the time changes here in BC for good.
PS look forward to the movie!
Today I'm reflecting on the importance of getting together with family & friends. British Columbians have done the right thing following public health advice & getting vaccinated - now we can safely get back to doing what we enjoy together.
From mine to yours, happy Family Day!
BC should have a say over whether we put our coast, streams, rivers, and tens of thousands of jobs, in harms way.
That's why, today, we submitted a reference question to the BC Court of Appeal to affirm our right to protect BC from the threat of a diluted bitumen spill.
#bcpoli
We need to be a province that enables young women to take on leadership roles without fear of sexism. British Columbians deserve better from their political leaders.
British Columbians expect us to stand up for their interests and our coast, and to do everything we can to defend our land and waters, our coastal communities and our local economies.

While we wait for the final tally in the US presidential election, I want to congratulate my friend

I will be meeting with Prime Minister

this coming Sunday in Ottawa. I'll be there to represent BC, our coast and economy.
While masks are no longer mandatory, I'm still wearing mine with groups of people I don't know or when I'm on the ferry. Masks are also strongly recommended until you're fully vaccinated.
Let's respect everyone's comfort levels as we safely come back together.
We have concerns about access to Canada for US visitors and continue to push for tighter 🇨🇦 borders at this time.
Our message to people who may attempt to visit BC right now, from
@adriandix
:
Don't come. Stay home. It's in the best interest of everyone's health.
Wishing our friends to the south in Washington a warm welcome to the NHL as the
@SeattleKraken
host the
@Canucks
in their first ever home game tonight.
Hey
@GovInslee
- how about a wager?
Willing to bet some fresh BC sockeye salmon on it?
Masks are now required for indoor public spaces across BC. Whether on the bus, grabbing coffee, or picking up groceries, join me in wearing yours. We can all do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Burning down churches is not the way forward. All places of community worship must be protected. It is only by coming together that we can support one another. Vandalism will not move us forward. Respect and understanding will.
It's tough having to celebrate things differently this year. I'm glad
@VancityReynolds
could make Damien's big day a little more special.
Happy birthday! 🎂
One of many examples of British Columbians at their best and helping others through this emergency. We will get through this by continuing to work together.
