I've just learned that my brother - a dentist (who qualified at the same time as I did) - will be taking home a salary 6× as much as I will per month 💀 I am thrilled for him, absolutely psyched and so proud! But I've got to say, the incentive to stay in medicine is lowwww 💀😂

I was genuinely almost brought to tears today. How is it that there were only 2 F1s covering 4 orthopaedic wards? I can manage a ward of 30 patients but dropping another ward of 30 patients on me on top of that made me feel completely out of my depth and so overwhelmed 😣

I've just finished a 13 hour on call shift with no breaks. It's been shit. I am physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted and I just do not want to do this anymore. Someone give me a reason to stay in the NHS because genuinely - GENUINELY I am losing the will to carry on.

I spoke to a friend yesterday who told me he is earning £75,000 pa as a software engineer. He works from home Monday-Friday, logs in at 9am and is signed off at 5pm. No weekends, no unsocial hours. If he's needed at the office his transport & accommodation is paid for. 1/

Reflecting on my F1 year, I was on surgery for 8 months and made it to theatre once. At the end of medschool my consultant was happy for me to perform free flap skin grafts, BCC removals and suture close on the face because he was confident in my ability and so was I. Not anymore

@brokenbren That is genuinely horrifying, I'm absolutely appalled. Doctors look after everybody else but when it comes to them, you're just treated like a robot, it is so sad and so demoralising. It's like we don't really matter 😣

So I found out the other day that my Consultant supervisor informed ALL THE OTHER CONSULTANTS on the unit about me being a Mermaid when I FIRST STARTED on ICU.... VIA EMAIL... COMPLETE WITH A LINK TO A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE 💀😂 Basically they knew the whole time that I was nuts 🙃

I did not come to work today on a day that I wanted to stay at home because I felt poorly to be bullied and belittled by the radiologist because he doesn't want to speak to anyone who's not a Registrar. So unnecessary.

@StevenMAlderson I appreciate where you're coming from but unfortunately the availability for some people just isn't there. During F1 my trust asked for sizing and provided each of us 5 pairs which was great but haven't for F2. My unit does provide scrubs but they often don't have my size
