It was my pleasure today to watch Dr @yaliniwijesund2 defend her thesis. She's smashed the group record with 18 publications (I think that is the record) and was the brains behind the "MOF-jet." She's off to a job in CO. I am incredibly proud of her and what she's accomplished.

Douglas C. Prasher cloned and sequence the genes for green fluorescent protein (GFP) and proposed to use GFP as a tracer molecule. He did not get NIH funding and left academia. He was driving a cab when Rodger Tsien, who fully acknowledged Prashers contributions, won the Nobel

10 years ago I started my little lab not knowing that I’d have any success in biomaterials, having never worked with them. But these guys gave me a chance. @ZzzzzzChen (my first student!) and @Luzuriaga_24 flew all the way back to Dallas from their families.

Just out in @acsnano . A combined effort with @ZhenpengQin 's lab, we show that viral nano particles are great scaffolds for thermal effect enhancement of gold nano particles. The result is we can get them extremely hot, generating highly destructive light-triggered cavitation.

One of the criticisms I receive at talks regarding biomimetic mineralization using MOFs is that it only works w/ ZIF-8… that's the only MOF that grows on biomaterials under aqueous conditions. WELL… @RyanneEhrman and @Snekumari tell you why that is wrong

Smoked Dino ribs for dinner. Dino ribs are also called beef plate short ribs and come with three ribs (ribs 6, 7, and 8). Butchers (at least in Texas) will know what you want if you ask for Dino ribs… but you can’t go wrong with beef ribs tbh. They’re all good.

First, it's clear that the flavor profile depends on how long ago it was smoked. Second, it also depends on what it was smoked onto. Tthe salmon presented the smokey flavors that made each one taste different… all the smoke tasted similar on cream cheese
