Zero time passed. My parents had to buy a newspaper to prove to me that I had been in a coma for 48 hours.
Every year I take that “missing” day off and do something nice for myself to celebrate my survival.
@catholicpat
My favorite was taking ice on board (to chill bacon, long story).
TSA: Sir, you can’t take liquids on board.
Me: Ice is a solid, not a liquid.
TSA: Well it won’t be solid when you board the plane.
Me: It’s a solid at the checkpoint!
(refills ice from champagne bar in lounge)
This was first reported by Mission Local, but goes uncredited here. We are a small, non-profit newsroom, and we work hard to break news.
This is bad form.

This can happen without them searching for you.
“People you may know” has caught sex workers, clients at psych clinics, people in rehab, and outed trans folx.

The good news is his livelihood isn’t on the line – he’s really doing this for the other 200 people in the same boat.
He also seems to be a *very* good person:
Let me see if I can summarize:
The disabled Icelandic founder of a design agency acquired by Twitter in 2021 was ghosted by Musk's Twitter. After a public callout, Musk asked him to describe his work, then laughed at him as HR finally got in touch to say, "You're fired."
@__femb0t
Yeah my refund from Icelandair which happened to have the Icelandic country code concatenated twice in the description (“ISIS”) was a lot of fun to deal with.
@d_feldman
Accidentally? Isn’t the dirty (not so) secret that Project Titan needed silicon that could run AI models for self-driving vehicles, and that’s the origin story for the M series of chips?
@tenilleclarke1
Although you may not have seen them, image kills happen. Infrequently, but not “once in a career” infrequently.
They tend to mostly hit image editor desks, in any case.

Wow! San Francisco doubling down on their commitment to Vision Zero… for techbros attending Dreamforce.
Incredible “quick build” from
@SFMTA_Muni
. No community consultation. No CEQA review. And using *actual* concrete barriers!
Is this a dream
@jeffreytumlin
?!?
#VisionZeroSF
@DavidZipper
No, it doesn’t.
The electric Hummer has an efficiency rating of 47 MPGe. That’s better than a Toyota Corolla, which gets 30 MPG.
The only way your numbers work is comparing to the *global* average power grid, not the USA.
Stop spreading misinformation.
I trust that
@SFDAOffice
will be filing false imprisonment charges against
@Waymo
for trapping drivers on a freeway on-ramp last night.
Equal treatment under the law, and all that.
A reminder that Muni fare inspectors are not peace officers. They cannot detain you nor prevent you from leaving a Muni vehicle or station. You have no obligation to provide them with any personal details. They can only detain you if an SFPD or BART police officer is present.
Officials at SFMTA believe that nearly 21% of people who board Muni buses and trains aren’t paying a fare.
Now they’re planning to double the number of fare inspectors to try to reverse the rise in fare evasion.
So here’s the real story about
@Trevor4SF
’s car arson in Bernal Heights on Tuesday night.
Looks like a car fire, right? SF is out of control, right? Scary times? Let’s vote for Trevor!
Uh, it’s a little more complicated than that.
🧵 1/
While City Hall patted itself on the back yesterday for a do-nothing resolution on the Middle East, another arson struck Bernal Heights. I'm disturbed that a resident had to call 911 FOUR TIMES to get a response, completely unacceptable.
We need a D9 Supervisor focused on D9.
@lizchar
Not sure their insurer would like the broken ankles! I’ve been down one twice during safety training, and it’s not a pleasant experience.
(The way the friction surface at the end throws you upright into a running position is quite something though!)

Saw a text quoted on Reddit that added:
" Good afternoon. The DEA has accused us of violations in several states, therefore we cannot continue practicing at this time. We are shocked and so sorry. We will reach out when we know more. Thank you. -Smith Ketamine Services"

@halcyon_hazel
Yup!
1. No other way to hire great brewers (who wants to only brew Bud Light for eternity?)
2. Good use of small scale brewing equipment for training (losing a small batch is okay, a big batch not so much)
3. Helps maintain their ability to contract brew for other companies
@GergelyOrosz
They, especially Netflix, want a hardware ecosystem where all the players pay *them* to have a Netflix app on their hardware. That’s why Netflix dropped the AirPlay end-run for “quality” reasons.
Giving it to Apple for free doesn’t support that business model.
@Maladroithe
A passenger next to me on a flight just before Christmas was told her cat would have to be *euthanized* because it didn’t have paperwork to stop in Iceland (our flight was delayed so she missed connection). Luckily ground crew realized earlier and it was at home with her MIL.
@KevinRBing
There was an anti-drink driving service like this in London. They’d ride to you at the pub, put their bike in your car, drive you home, then ride off to another pub.

Uh, no, that’s not what happened. Their general counsel accidentally replied to all, giving everyone in the company a version of the email they could safely leak. 🤦♂️
@pitdesi
Read the small print. The suicide net is just one part of a contract that also includes two diesel-powered heavy maintenance platforms under the span that had to be rebuilt. Argument over their condition has led to the lawsuit and budget overrun.
@LauraGMitchell
Thankyou for sharing this thread. I’d also add, make sure you talk to someone about what happened.
I tried to help someone after a crash – trying to get into their car, watching them turn blue. Unfortunately they didn’t make it. :/
My therapist helped me work through that.
@stjbs
What a ridiculous waste of money – in every single jurisdiction it’s been tried, the numbers testing positive were negligible, and the full cost of testing very high.
@Trevor4SF
No, I’m saying that socializing the losses of private businesses who can’t make edible tacos 🌮 is a gross misuse of public funds.
Another example of where Trevor isn’t clever.
@jasonpjason
Not “running a yellow”. Cross-traffic must wait until other vehicles have exited the intersection per CVC 21451, even if they have a green signal.
Another terrible Tesla service experience. Apparently this noisy/leaky Model S window seal is “within specification”, six months after another tech at the same service center verified it was an issue and promised a fix. No way to escalate, apart from cc’ing
@elonmusk
@SFMTA_Muni
No, you didn’t reduce anything.
@SafeStreetRebel
did, days ago.
You have merely reinforced the existing changes that they made to the street layout.
This is *disgusting*.
Shame on you,
@SFMTA_Muni
, for treating transit riders as second class citizens.
Zero reason why parking meters and enforcement should be suspended today while transit riders are over-policed.
Hey
@SFMTA_Muni
why are you complicit with these bullying thugs? You shouldn’t be involved in mass arrests of children.
Unless you are legally required to do so, stop being an arm of the law. SFPD can charter tech buses instead.
Parents have for last hour been angrily arguing with police, demanding to see their children
SFPD says parents can pick up their kids at Mission Station, 2 blocks away
Parents are livid their kids can’t be immediately released to them
2 Muni buses are being used for transport

Story about this happening to a sportswoman in Australia; facing the risk of being doxxed she felt forced to go public with her medical condition.

No, it correctly uses your name to attribute the comments rather than your role. It doesn’t claim that they were made when you were DA.
The first paragraph of the article makes this *crystal* clear.
Amazing thread that – beyond covering an important local story ignored or minimized by other media outlets – highlights just how incredible the team at
@MLNow
are on their own turf, even through the night. Phenomenal work by
@jrivanob
covering our new police state.
SFPD has kenneled several dozen seemingly young kids & skaters at Dolores Park after an hours-long slow-moving chase to shut down the annual “hill bomb”
Cops have trapped the group between rows of officers
The group is being forced to sit, it is unclear if they are under arrest

Proceed autonomously after being *on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD* for 20 minutes? I’d be arrested if I did that outside your headquarters, but you do this to San Franciscans regularly, putting the lives of other road users at risk.
