Repeating a prev. angry comment: My (Dr) sister is BANNED from wearing FFP in a NHS covid ward. I handed her a spare N95 (I'd flown from USA to UK) in Scotland & tears welled up in her eyes. She said I wear better PPE in shops than she's allowed on covid wards. Think on that.

@nick_coatsworth Some of us have noticed that many infectious disease doctors have undergone a switcheroo from preventing covid infections to doing sweet FA about them and telling us to take our infections. We don't subscribe to this change of direction and think public health should do its job.

The NHS has been broken by harsh don't care Govt. Someone who did everything right; taking all precautions, infected via the Govt's let rip in schools policy. JCVI minutes show it is policy, not incompetence.

UKHSA is assessing the situation.... They have no idea how it was detected when they cancelled testing and surveillance, so they have to figure out how it was detected and shut that down too.

A case of the COVID-19 variant BA.2.86 has been identified in the UK & a number of other countries. Dr Meera Chand, Deputy Director, has said "We're aware that BA.2.86 has been detected in the UK. UKHSA is assessing the situation & will provide further information in due course."

@tia_loret @PeteUK7 Point is: Covid is *breaking* standard epidemiology. It's waning/reinfecting too fast AND mutating too fast to run to saturation & shut down. Their entire received wisdom fails to describe what we see. I think we're seeing inflexible people try force reality to fit their dogma
