Someone just sent me info on outbreak in a hospital break room where 14/15 got infected by 1 index case in one shift. The max in room at once time was 4. Warning: don’t take off mask just because people are not present. The virus can linger in the air in small spaces for hours.

Most docs wear N95s when seeing potential COVID patients and remove them after they leave room. The virus hovers in rooms for hours. This notion of 6ft and 15 min near an infected individual to call close contact is ludicrous and leading to the continuing propagation of COVID-19.

It is stunning to see all of the people not wearing masks indoors and having no idea while looking at me as if I am the one who is out of touch. This is a direct result of all of the misinfo that has been out there since Day 1--and it is why some places are experiencing wave #6 .

As I see more people who have remained COVID-free for 2+ years becoming infected, it is obvious that 2 things are happening - 1) we are dropping our guards as we worn down, and 2) mandates are being removed so more virus that is much infectious is in the air around us. (1/3)

Not good to see so many people coming down with COVID-19--many have been lucky (and determined) to avoid it for ~2.5 years. As predicted, the virus has grown to be quite infectious and is very unforgiving. Remember, one tiny window of letting your guard down is enough. (1/2)

We need a major movement in adding air filtration to indoor spaces. HEPAs/CR boxes are equivalent to lungs for the room. They filter all viruses, bacteria, pollution, and allergens from the air instead of you inhaling them. Anyone who says differently has a conflict of interest.

Universal masking lowers risk of infections. Masks filter in both directions. We are lucky it has a size that is readily blocked. Why are we not using this information to protect people? Adding room filtration adds an extra mask to the entire room. It is so simple to fix.

COVID is mainly transmitted through aerosols which linger in the air and NOT droplets which fall to the ground fast (w/in 6 ft). Aerosols can build up in a poorly ventilated room like cigarette smoke. This means everyone sharing the same indoor air can be exposed and infected.

We all want our “normal” lives back. A key difference is many of us believe we can do it in a way that is equitable for all. Everyone deserves to breathe clean indoor air and there are solutions right in front of us. Adding air filtration is a key layer of protection.

Walking around, I see zero masks. Some people I really respect are saying that we will not get another surge. Watching other places (EU, UK) starting to see increase in cases. Which will it be? I am continuing to be cautious and wear my KN95...we will know in a few weeks.

Why does wearing a good mask upset some people so much? They resort to name calling at the level of a 5 year old. Fear? Ignorance? What drives this toxic behavior?

Two cute classroom members that filter air 2000 times faster than one human breathes in indoor air making it much more likely they suck the virus in than your child. Why not add them to your classroom? They will protect the health of all kids.

I am asked about travel a lot. I have flown across the US and to/from Europe and not caught COVID or any respiratory bug. I carry my CO2 sensor to determine where to sit in airports. Lounges are typically poorly ventilated and everyone is eating/drinking with no mask. (1/3)

Did the @CDCDirector actually say that she will not recommend N95's during a global pandemic because they might be uncomfortable? Wonder how they compare to being ventilated. This is just not logical and suggests she is receiving really bad input/pressure. What a nightmare.

Excellent article. Informative, clear, direct. One of the best of the pandemic. Great job @jvipondmd @sameo416 @Mark_Ungrin -- thank you!! A few highlights below in thread (there are /many/ more in the article which is well worth a read)! (1/)

I am proud to say that I will be testifying at the OSHA hearing in 2 weeks to provide a reason to provide better PPE to fully protect healthcare workers against airborne transmission. I have 10 minutes--what should I include?

How about the new normal including ways to clean indoor air? Let's make it so that we don't catch flu every winter. We can do this. Indoor ventilation and filtration are key parts of moving forward towards the new normal.

Hand sanitizer in foreground at airport...over 20 people have come over and used it in a 10 minute period. How many are wearing masks? Yep. ZERO. Congrats public health folks @CDCgov @who for making sure that the public knows how this virus spread IN THE AIR.

It has been so disappointing to see masks dropped in healthcare. I testified for OSHA to show how this makes zero sense. It seems like this has been a tipping point where vulnerable people are feeling even more abandoned. Let's unite and send a message to fight this together.

I am wiling to bet my first born child that if everyone filtered their indoor air (homes, businesses, schools), we would stop the spread of this virus. Please prove me wrong.

Last night was the first time I cried before going to sleep worrying about the state of our world. It is so disheartening to watch 1 wave after another when we can stop it once we acknowledge #COVIDIsAirborne . Please let's work together to stop the airborne spread of SARS-CoV-2.

Surgical masks do NOT block aerosols which leak out the gaps. This has been shown in many publications. It is unacceptable for the @CDCgov to continue to spread this misinformation.

Ineffective Mask Recommendations: The claim that plain surgical masks are as effective as N95s is contradicted by preponderance of scientific evidence.

I know more people now who have covid than any time in last 3.5 years. This includes many who avoided it the entire time. It is a high risk period as it is surging while people have their guards down and are not testing or isolating. #CovidIsNotOver #MaskUp

Facts. Masks reduce your risk of inhaling and getting COVID-19. Good fitting respirators work even better. Anyone who tells you differently is either misinformed, has a conflict of interest, ignorant, or brainwashed. Letting them control the dialog has led to this pandemic.

We can choose the food we eat and water we drink. We cannot choose the common (public) air we breathe. We have no choice but to clean indoor air using ventilation, filtration, and UV-222.

With a virus that is as contagious as chicken pox, the top priority before schools open should be insuring clean indoor air. “Ventilation and filtration” should be rolling out of experts mouths as frequently as “masks and vaccines.” We need them all to protect unvaccinated kids.
