I am a Muslim doctor. I have worked in the NHS for 15 yrs. In spite of ample evidence of the structural discrimination within esp the higher echelons, I have always had faith in our NHS. The utter disdain clear in the appointment of Trevor Phillips by @PHE_UK is a new low.

I have worked in many ICUs. I have never seen an ICU like this where there are patients on the floor, no oxygen cylinders and resuscitation equipment at hand. To reduce healthcare facilities to this is clearly aimed at making Gaza uninhabitable. Israeli impunity must end.

In the last mth of pregnancy & I have had my Covid vaccine. Such relief knowing that the risk of suffering the horrendous effects of Covid was greater than any risk from the vaccine. Thank u to the colleagues who helped me make an informed decision and my efficient GP practice.

ONLY 13% of those applying for isolation support were successful. It’s impossible to isolate when you need to go out to work to pay your rent or put food on the table. The lack of real support for self isolation is putting us ALL at risk and the NHS under immense pressure.

Utterly heartbreaking figures this morning that one in six patients requiring ICU are unvaccinated pregnant women with Covid. I was vaccinated when pregnant and breastfeeding to keep myself and my baby safe. Please share below thread especially with your pregnant loved ones.

@drphiliplee1 It’s not black and white. I say this as a medic & a local councillor with some insight into policy making. The system utterly lacks transparency - corporate image often trumps all. But linking this to fundraising & without clear goals & due care for staff/patients is unwise.

@MiriamBrett I have worked in the NHS for 15 yrs. Watching exorbitantly paid “consultants” some with clearly no previous experience of healthcare “reviewing our work”, whilst dedicated nurses leave for lack of being cared for has been a constant unspoken sore. Expressed beautifully. Thank u.

I am an anaesthetist and had volunteered to work in ICU if needed. I now have a cough and will be self isolating. Totally unfathomable that currently there is no method of testing staff whilst we are considering asking retired elderly staff to return to work. @denis_campbell

At last nights council one of our city’s young leaders @MaryamFirdousA1 from the Muslim youth led group Help the World Oxford spoke eloquently. Maryam expressed her utter dismay at the inequality with which Palestinian lives are treated with human rights treated as hierarchical.

It is UNSAFE to work in full PPE for long hours without a break. FFP3 masks are ineffective after a max 4hrs. To imply that we are wasting PPE whilst trying to keep ourselves safe is a disgusting distraction technique. Try wearing PPE for 4 hours without a break @MattHancock .

We can't respond to #Covid19 in a #HostileEnvironment for migrants, which prevents our neighbours from accessing healthcare. That's why I've written to my local NHS Trusts to ensure everyone can use the NHS without fear of immigration controls. We treat #PatientsNotPassports .
