My favourite thing to do as a doctor is conspire with the nurse in charge to have a patient’s dog come and visit them on the ward and today I got to do that once more ☺️☺️☺️

A domestic has found the little room with a fold out chair that we sleep in on breaks on nights and has started making it up with fresh sheets every day, and honestly it’s done more to make me feel like a valued employee than anything else this week. I even got a towel tonight!!

Bank holiday weekend has coincided with the first hot weekend of the year, so in peak NHS all the radiators are on full blast and can’t be turned off. Parts of the hospital are so hot we’ve had to close them. Absolutely classic.

There’s a gap today that no locum filled, so I am carrying both bleeps and doing the work of two people. For free. Because they won’t pay me the locum money because I’m already at work. So what’s the incentive for the trust to fill it? (Haven’t had a break yet…)

SHO long day tomorrow needed. I said I would do it for escalated rates (as am between 2 long runs of shifts and worth ££!). They’ve declined, no one else is free, so the shift is unfilled. Having been that jr, I know that means 1 SHO doing 2 jobs. No repercussions for the Trust??
