India's geography means it can never be an efficient manufacturing economy.
India has some of the worst coastlines in the world.
Despite it's length, Indian coastlines have few to no natural deep water harbors.
This increases the cost of transport for things made in India

MsTikoo has Indian citizenship. India is open to all kinds of criticism, has an independent media and civil society. Have learnt the hard way that foreigners showing 'concern' for Indian issues is loaded with implications not in the best interest of the India. MsKaul is British.
@MazMHussain
If people like Pannun and Nijjar will release videos and put-up billboards asking for assassination of MEA officials, then MEA will discuss how to crackdown on them. Indians are glad their MEA is doing its job 🙂
@YusufDFI
Most important reason why toll is high and GST is extracted so much is because Indians do not pay direct income tax. Only way for govt is to tax expenditure as income is unreported.
@Chinmayi
'Leave India' as if it is his personal property. India belongs to the men as much as women. Instead of feeling apologetic about living in a country known for being unsafe for women, he is reinforcing the Indian male stereotype 🤨
@krishan018
As the network increases, usage will increase. But even at the highest usage, metros anywhere in the world are not meant to make profits. There are positive externalities on the economy and liveability when public infra is built
@dhume
At this point in history, Indian of any political hue would refuse to trade with Pakistan. We have learnt the hard way that a weak Pakistan is good for our security.
@suhasinih
@smh
It is Modi's job as the Indian PM to raise issues concerning Indian immigrants abroad. Albanese raising domestic Indian issues in India is not equitable. If anything, any foreign voices of support will weaken domestic Indian opposition
@MazMHussain
Indian govt does not need to run an information operation. Indians have seen how Punjab and Delhi were burnt through khalistani terrorism in the 1980s. Never again

the fact that this was censored means the authorities know the new king is on a weak wicket, and this goes to the heart of the legitimacy of the royal family in its current form. interesting times

If there was no case, the Indian govt would not have been able to lobby successfully. The children were returned after 2 yrs, and the young couple got divorced under the strain. What did the Norwegian govt achieve by this? What was there actual goal? No andwers

'Hinting'? Now the apologists have begun giving clarifications. A basic reading of the congress manifesto shows their intention. If they come to power more Indians will take their wealth and leave the country. Then loyalists can give their savings and wealth to Rahul baba
@MazMHussain
Ironical to say creation of Pakistan led to wiping out Indian- Islamicate culture as it had been created as a home for Muslims and has Islam has its official religion. No one in India regrets partition, especially after seeing the mess Pakistan is in as a nation
@YusufDFI
If this puts Jamnagar on the world map then why not. The same wedding functions could have been held outside India and India would have lost precious $$$.
@sreemoytalukdar
Unfortunately Indian origin people all over the world go out of their way to show 'self loathing' for their parents/grandparents origin as a defence mechanism to fit in as a third gen immigrant. Probably happens to all those from 3rd world countries
@clary_co
Ms Tikoo was asked to present at the US congressional hearing on Kashmir and said whatever she did as part of her statement. I am glad she held her ground. Suggest you research on the genocide and exodus of Kashmiri pandits by the Muslim majority

Best news for the planet. Humans need to be fewer on this earth. Need to concentrate on quality of life instead of treating women as baby machines in poor/mid countries
@Noahpinion
Earth and Humankind cares. An Australian national emitting 17 tonnes per capita consumes and is a much bigger burden on this earth than an Indian national at 1.89 tonners per capita:

It was squashed by the high court. Gurugram, which is a Asian regional centre for the private sector, comes under Haryana. But jobs go to the most competent people in the country, not to locals.

TN creates economic output by selling its products in which geography? are you saying TN sells in its own state and does not take advantage of the rest of India to run its factories?
@AanshulSadaria

yes, Noida airport will be the hub for the new Air India, which will be one of the largest airlines in Asia. So many connecting regional flights (middle east, SE Asia etc) will be via Noida. Delhi airport will cater to India mkt connecting to the world.
@sreemoytalukdar
BJP is delivering economically as well. It is building a social safety net for the poorest while running the economy with a commercial mindset. The infra push is the largest ever post independence.
@andymukherjee70
cheap oil means a lot for India's budget deficit (besides have you seen how much the EU is buying?). And defence dependence is historical. West needs to step up and help India if it wants India on its side
@jsensarma
This is not just about money. It is about creating safe public places for all women. If a bus ride is free for women, they are more likely to use it, even if their family can afford to pay for a ticket for them. Will make them more mobile and self sufficient
@sabizak
@MirAjmalHamid
India doesn't need Pakistan economically or politically. No incentive to help them among Indians. Liability more than an asset as a neighbour-best forgotten.

Palestine has not supported India on the Kashmir issue in global fora although India had been providing unconditional support. Israel has become an imp source of military equipment/ training and trade. Indian FP is now pragmatic so will change as regional dynamics change

Activity in East Asia will keep China busy until 2030. India ought to bide its time and instead of planning any new activities in the border, concentrate on its economy.

If farming is not highly remunerative then people need to find another employment. No way tax payers are going to fund the life of farmers from their hard earned money. Farm land needs to be developed into industrial farming

Can Mumbai afford so much arrogance now? Latest GDP data show only 10 billion $ difference b/w Mimbai and Delhi NCR. GIFTcity being built outside Ahmd not Mumbai

India had requested red corner notices against Pannun twice. rejected both times. What does this say about the kind of man the US is protecting with all its diplomatic might.
@FinestYew
Tone deaf. Former foreign secretary of a country with a state religion moaning about the decline of Nehru's vision of a secular, pluralistic and democratic country
@gerryshih
No nation would take this kind of lecturing quietly, let alone a nation that had been partitioned based on religion. Obama cannot get away by giving out such statements carelessly. Unnecessary interference

Hope Macron also has an ambitious plan for funding his own security as well as Ukraine and EU security in his quest for equidistance

Pakistan will have to change its raison-d'etre to have a normal relationship with India. There is no appetite on India to make relationship normal
If twitter begins to let accounts make money by raising controversial topics/create noise then twitter will become trashy. There needs to be gatekeeping before accounts like gabbar encash their wile behavior
This is another reason you shouldn't engage with accounts that you think spread hatred or give extreme opinions. Your engagement only boosts their reach & profit.

Tokyo has built its urban infra to manage its flooding. It has a network of underground tunnels for water discharge. Pavements absorb water. Parks are built at elevation so people can go there in case of flooding:

What he is not saying is more important than what he is saying. Indira's husband's name was Feroze Jehangir Ghandy. The spelling was changed for political reasons

Instead of obsessing over size of total economy, India should concentrate on a target per capita income and providing a reasonable life to its citizens
@GabbbarSingh
India should send a team to the UK to help them transition peacefully into the next Govt. India should also put observers in the new Govt to ensure they perform according to the constitution and don't join any rebels
