Massive inflation shock, followed by stagflation then deflation. Those books I read about the 1920s and 1930s were time well spent.

Food prices doubled in 1933-34. Now, was this because of the New Deal and the Fed, or was it a severe drought? That supply-side inflation shock didn't last & neither will this one. We had an inflation spike led by oil/commodities from Oct 06-Jul 08 and the same hyperventilating.

Now, you want to lightweight cars…or build airplanes…..welcome to aluminum…..what makes aluminum workable and helps give it the mechanical properties we need…..yep, back to magnesium (and high grade silicon, also China). So a single raw materials is a road block.

Biden and the Ds have said for years that they would curtail fossil fuels and they have actively pushed for banks and funds to stop investing in companies that do not have a green push…..now they are terrified of $5 gas….this is only a second order effect, wait for 3rd & 4th

Just heard: At a meeting last week with Biden officials and oil executives: Administration is “terrified” of $5 gasoline in the US. After “begging” oil companies to produce more, one exec said, “Either you lied to us the last two years, or you are lying to us now. Which is it?”

Want to make primary magnesium….what do you need? 1) a good feed stock, which is frankly abundant….and 2) lots of electric power, continuous high voltage electricity to run the electrolytic cells. Get it…this is what we are dealing with…..mining, refining, electricity.

The “accidental discovery” is the key to everything. Physically doing things, observing things is how you come up with new methods, new products, new processes…..without this there is no basis for discovery. “We are the sum total of our experiences” according to dad.

A severe flaw in Ricardo's model used by idiotic economists: By sending your manufacturing to China, you also send your accidental DISCOVERY to China. See #Antifragile : science is more likely to come from technology (and business) than the reverse.

@chigrl Always….and I mean always….check a second source. Amazon tracks you purchase and adjusts their prices based on what they think you can pay. Prime can mean hours to days. I got a package yesterday within 3 hours of order, others take over a week.

100% right…….Alternatives to China must be next on our list. This is the weakness for the US along with the WEF sponsored “stateless” companies. We need to leave behind the “Unserious People in Stupid Times” period of history.
