@mattyglesias In the general population, but among the elite, selection cutoff, creates a Simpson's paradox making them slightly negatively correlated and hence fertile ground for tribalism.

This increasingly looks to be true and conservative/libertarians shouldvbe prepared to update their priors about air pollution regulation. The findings are so big you can go from thinking we are wildly too strict to not nearly strict enough.

#DontLookUp is a horror story about world with no financial markets and so humanity lacks the infrastructure to quickly integrate and evaluate information about the future and based on that create and distribute incentives to respond accross to economywide.

Watching #DontLookUp now Clear prob is Tres wasn't in 1st meeting. I'd explain: soon as this leaks to Wall Street -- & info this valuable *will* leak -- a mind melting financial collapse will proceed in minutes. Only chance to even mitigate is an ironclad plan ready to go ASAP

@Kyle_Feldscher @kristin__wilson Why do this? You have to know that heard immunity would be achieved at much lower IFR even with random spread and vastly lower if those under 50 were overexposed.

I'm not sure I've agreed with a single piece @NathanJRobinson has ever written. Yet, hIs longer-form writings esp, are some of the most forceful & exhaustive critiques of my positions that I've ever come across. We need more of that & less of this nonsense from @TheGardianNews

NYC is now doing something really big: offering hotel rooms to people with mild/mod covid-19 who need to relocate in order to keep their household from being infected. Patients need to be referred by one of the below health providers. This is an early phase and will be expanded.

@BridgetPhetasy @Neoavatara @RadioFreeTom @jbarro @KAGoss @juliettekayyem @SouthwestAir @FAANews I think this is the rel issue. Their imagine of a Trump supporter is of someone angry and semi literate...and on top of that they are not aware that Biden's disapprovals are above 50, implying some of his own voters now disapprove.

The impact of a long quarantine on employment in the US economy looks pretty scary. Depending on the baseline 23% to 6% of all the jobs will be lost. In the medium scenario the economy will reach employment levels of 2011. @Noahpinion @causalinf
