Why is our millennial generation being blamed for this, and not the Boomer, ex-airline CEO who seems to be intent on running Amtrak into the ground? I've dined on these trains twice in the past year, and plenty of millennials were there with me.

What's it like to live in a place where people follow laws, and they're enforced? Police in my ENTIRE San Francisco police precinct (~100k) gave out ZERO traffic citations last month. The same precinct a 4-year-old in a stroller was killed last week by a car doing illegal turn.

@Susan_Shelley Why would you want to stop something that is going to save lives AND is totally up to each city to implement? If your city doesn't want speed cameras — that's up to your city. But mine does, and I'd like myself and family to not die from a speeding vehicle.

SF has been redesigning Second St to be safer for all modes. But many drivers don't seem to care — and constantly break the rules, while it's cyclists/peds that seem to follow the laws, now that infrastructure treats modes fairly. Here's a bird's eye view of the action.

@CBSNewYork Is there any other way that Long Island Republicans could get to NYC without driving? I wonder if we could build some kind of shared ride service into the city. Maybe put it on tracks and build tunnels for it? Would that help them?

The way San Francisco taxes businesses is mind bogglingly dumb. The fact that one employer (Cruise) with pretty miniscule could be overcharged by $100m is off-the-charts insane.

@mnolangray As @Parking_Reform member Anne put it: If parking is valuable, then it should be priced accordingly, right? If parking is not valuable, then why should the city subsidize it?

@Qagggy Sorry, but remind me, are drivers in cars allowed to have the windows up and play music? That will surely get them arrested or held liable for any ensuing accident, right?

@CMRaulCampillo When a car runs me over and I lie dying on the pavement, it will be great to see that sharrow just ahead on the road, reminding me that I was protected (from nothing)

@alisonmartino It's true — totally out of scale with new construction. Should be way bigger.

@REALJenHarman You should ask your cousin how he time traveled back to 2011 and teleported to Hwy 88 (which is not the way to get from Reno to Tahoe)!

@JackieFielder_ @sbuss Nothing on that mailer says it's from a government entity, except for, you know, the part at the bottom that specifically says it's a paid mailer. Also, acts are legal or illegal. There's no such thing as extremely illegal. Except maybe blocking bike lanes with a bus.

@wafoli I will vote for the first mayoral candidate that promises to fix the all-caps vs title case inconsistency in our street signs.

@rice_rust_belt While I'm loving their transit focus, I can't help but think they could change transpo habits 10x faster/cheaper by just creating safe bike infrastructure. It's such a perfect biking region.

@agarwal In summary: Trains are such a better way to travel, especially with kids, but man oh man are American trains frustratingly slow. If you're not in a hurry though, strongly recommend long-distance Amtrak!

@stan_okl Gotta spend 5 years ensuring transit is good for the environment, 4.5 getting "feedback" and then 6 months actually building it.
