Had a smooth connection at Huntington. All we had to do was stay on our train. Now we are back at King St waiting to go to Franconia. Even had enough time for a bathroom stop. Thx to the station manager for helping!

After a sprint we barely missed a train at Fort Totten. Luckily we only had to wait another 3 mins, and out of completely random luck, we got the cherry blossom train! Unfortunately getting the record looks impossible at this point. Just passed Silver Spring on way to Glenmont

Barely missed the train at Greenbelt. We saw the doors close as our doors opened. It really was a difference of 10 seconds. Now off to Fort Totten. Likely impossible for us to get the record at this point, but likely getting 2nd place by a good margin. Current time 6hrs 7mins.

Transfer at L’Enfant is gonna be super tight. Unfortunately we had to hold a bit for a Blue Line train to go ahead of us. That could cost us the run but not sure. Currently we have done all BL/OR/SV stations, just RD and GR to go. Currently at 4hrs 28mins.

Overall, much closer than I thought it would be with the delays, so something to be happy about for sure. Both the weather+metro service were great, just bad luck in some spots. Total cost was $20 (should've gotten day pass). Hope this helps and happy to answer questions! (5/5)

@PYZC773 WMATA typically runs 10 min freqs on the silver line during rush hours. This week, they are running slightly reduced peak hour frequencies due to the derailment that has some of the older trains sidelined.

While the VA part went perfectly, we had a lot of delays in DC/MD. If any one of these things didn't happen, we would've gotten the record: - 5 min Blue delay into Largo - Miss by 30 sec at L'Enfant - Miss by 10 sec at Greenbelt - Miss by 1 min at Fort Totten (4/5)

From recently released WMATA docs, here is some info about upcoming shutdowns: - Assorted BL/OR/SV single tracking and short closures btwn Foggy Bottom and L'Enfant from now until spring. - 3 month summer red line shutdown btwn Fort Totten and Glenmont (1/2)

@PNWEngOfDoom @wmata The capital and operating budgets are separate, you cannot convert capital funds (like HQ) into operating funds. Granted, Randy Clarke is paid well, but he's doing a damn good job (better than any other recent GMs) and is paid LESS than his predecessor Paul Wiedefeld.

And that concludes the @wmata speedrun. My friend and I (see note below) have visited all 98 stations in 8 hours, 10 minutes, and 41 seconds, which (correct me if im wrong) puts us in third place, behind an 8:04 and an 8:06. Looking forward to trying this again to get the record.

For those who haven't seen the new MetroPulse update, I would recommend checking it out. New additions include interlining visibility, gui changes, train etas, no passenger trains, and interestingly rail maintenance vehicles (shown as 0-car NoPx). (1/2)

@wmata please add the express shuttles to gtfs data. On google maps, apple maps, and transit there are no express shuttles from Ballston to Foggy Bottom listed, which leads people to take a longer route and crowd the local shuttle, pls fix.

@styloshka As of now the rules are not super clearly defined, but in general, this is the list: - fixed route transit only, no bikes/cars/scooters - time starts on first door close, ends on stepping off final train - must physically enter or pass through every station in a train

@hemingquay Metro is currently deploying stronger and taller gates to calm fare evasion. Regardless, fully addressing fare evasion (which is literally impossible) would only make up approximately 6% of the budget deficit.

@AdvocateTransit @wmata Im not 100% sure about this, but for the train to show Southern Ave, the operator needs to set the destination code to another GR station (ideally just branch ave), and then manually change the station destination to southern ave. Here, the operator just used the special code 1.

@the_transit_guy A Columbia Pike subway that continues to Lincolnia. Yellow Line branch after Georgia Ave that continues north to Silver Spring. Also a station in National Harbor, however I am against another river bridge. Lastly a 2nd east west line through Georgetown and Union Sta.

Unfortunately, there are still some bugs and awkward gui interactions, such as a few trains not showing, trains appearing on other lines when they shouldnt, and ETA's not being shown sometimes. Regardless, great job @wmata , looking forward to future improvements! (2/2)

UPDATE for #wmata Green Line / Yellow Line: Green line operating with heavy delays and single tracking btwn L'Enfant and Mt Vernon. Yellow line operating in VA only btwn Pentagon and Huntington. Customers should use the BL line to get in/out of DC. Both YL/BL have heavy delays.

Goodbye Caps & Wizards. Deal with Virginia being announced tomorrow morning at Potomac Yards (where celebratory announcement tents are being prepared now). A significant blow to DC and its ailing downtown. Sad part is, it could have been avoided if city had acted.

@wmata Unfortunately the run killer was missing a train at franconia, causing us to change our routing to do the branch avenue leg first and use P12, instead of going straight to largo and using 21. Thanks to @Citizen_MKE for some help along the way, and good luck on ur run on friday!

@InakiLonga @RAILMag They are working on this now. Auto-doors are already enabled on the Red, hopefully coming to all lines sometime this summer if I recall correctly. Info can be found in the materials of a board meeting a bit ago, “Rail program update” i think.

While the junction needs 6 car trains for reliable turnbacks, I'm not aware of a headway constraint. Turnbacks have happened as often as every 6 mins during weekend closures

@littlebaconbear Totally get the lack of service after midnight, but crime is not a big issue imo. Granted, stuff happens occasionally, but that's just the nature of being outside. WMATA recently added more patrols as well. Metro service these days is great so I encourage you to get back on!
