Here's a new apartment building in Italy. This would be illegal to build in almost all of the USA + Canada. Notice how big the units are when there's no massive corridor running through the building and chopping each unit into little studios. Who wouldn't want to live here?

Another great article by @holz_bau ! To make higher-density living attractive for families, we need to legalize small-scale apartment buildings that are staples in most countries. Solving car dependency requires a diversity of approaches.

This is a great example of why reforming zoning isn’t enough to reduce car dependency. We need to legalize point access blocks to enable the type of fine grained urbanism that’s characteristic of pre-car walkable cities.
