Tucker Carlson:
For millions of young, college-educated Americans, "life is low-paid drone work at some soulless digital company, punctuated only by brunch on the weekends and Netflix and white wine at night. Forever. Until you die alone with no descendants to remember you."
- First 2024 debate
- Trump’s opening statement
- “You know, Joe, there’s a lot I could say about what you’re doing to this country. Horrible, just horrible…
- “But first I want to bring out a special guest. What do we think folks? Should we bring her out?”
I’ll never get over the fact that a trans person shot a bunch of Christians, and every American institution spent the next week asking if trans people were ok.
They hate you. They want you dead. It’s very important that you be clear-eyed about that.
Some other classics people pointed out in the replies:
- Thanks Kanye, very cool
- You’re telling me now for the first time
- Complete and total shutdown until we figure out what’s going on
- So true
- Somebody’s doing the raping
- Sad!
- Not sending their best
- Covfefe
- Lunden Roberts walks on stage with Navy Joan in her arms
- Hands her to Trump
- Trump walks over to Biden’s podium with 5-year-old in his arms
- “Say hello to your granddaughter, Joe. He’s not a nice guy, but what are you gonna do? He’s your grandpa.”
- Trump wins 49 states
This is the only thing I can think of that would top bringing Bill Clinton’s rape accusers to that one 2016 debate.
Truly a first ballot Hall of Fame gangster move.
@JeremyTate41
This crazy thing is that an Oxford student from the 1920s would look at this and be like, “What? You’re reading all this in translation?”
There's a version of the pro-choice argument that I can grudgingly understand (safe/legal/rare), but if you voted "No" on this, you're actually evil. You deserve to be punished.
@NelsonEcon16
Sure, but that factory job probably paid enough to support a family on one income, whereas you probably can't even afford rent on a studio with the big-city spreadsheet job. And you'd be finding a spouse in your community, not on dating apps with perverse incentives.

It’s literally a film about how natural (and predatory) hierarchies are good and disrupting them brings ruin to society. And it’s about the restoration of an absolute monarchy after its deposition in a coup by an underclass that’s been promised bread and peace.
If you intentionally ram a baby stroller with a car, the state has every right to execute you. It might even have the duty to do so. I don't care if you are 16.
If white people invented the gender binary and there are no white people in the Bible, then why isn't the Old Testament full of non-binary, 2S, and trans characters?

@moveincircles
I opened this article and Ctrl+F'd "church," "Christian," and "religion." Zero results for all three. So what's your point exactly?
The woman he's referring to murdered her baby at 29 weeks, joked about being able to fit into her jeans again, and then burned the baby's corpse in her backyard. She got 90 days in jail for it.
The "principled" right is morally bankrupt.

@keepbobbin
She's a saboteur. In other interviews, she describes herself as a Christ-loving atheist or something. She just calls herself a Christian to (as our friend
@AuronMacintyre
) hollow out the religion and wear it like a skin suit.
@jh_swanson
I’m on the right, but I’m surprised none of the lefties here have mentioned “The Lion King,” which is one of the most extreme right-wing films ever made and also a universally beloved Disney movie.
All the people clutching their pearls over the trauma this child would supposedly endure would’ve been totally fine with Lunden paying a doctor to rip Navy’s arms and legs off in utero.
Curious.
There are very hard limits on how far trad Christians and e-right Nietzschean vitalists can travel together.
This is starkest and most obvious of those limits.
@RealAtheology
@philosophersmag
Lol why would I read a guy who thinks it’s ok to screw animals and k1ll toddlers? In a sane society, he’d be in prison.
@moveincircles
I'm willing to wager a substantial amount of money that there are literally zero women on earth who wear a hijab, have a prosthetic leg, and identify as "solo poly."
On CNN,
@LHSummers
says Republicans who shrug off Jan. 6 exacerbate inflation by "undermining the basic credibility of our country's institutions."
"That, in turn, feeds through for inflation. Because if you can't trust the country's government, why should you trust its money?"
The bill that created the measure specified that health care providers must "take all medically appropriate and reasonable actions." The word "reasonable" would seem to shield doctors from prosecution if they decided to let a baby die in peace when there was no hope of saving it.
As for the abortion angle, opponents of the measure claimed that infants are never (or almost never) born alive after botched abortions. Anyway, here's an abortionist admitting on camera that he'd kill a baby born alive after a botched abortion.
This whole thing where we’re firing Russian composers, scrapping Russian literature courses, and kicking Russian kids off hockey teams is starting to seem like straight-up xenophobia.
Imagine if we’d treated Muslims this way after 9/11.
🚨Two proaborts decided to assault me and another pro-life defender outside Planned Parenthood in Washington DC this morning simply for standing on the sidewalk offering resources to families in crisis
The police refused to press charges

What people need to realize about
@default_friend
is that she almost never makes ideological points. She just makes observations about the culture and the discourse, and they're usually very insightful. She's an analyst, not a polemicist. And that's fine.
It’s cruel to administer this oath to a man and then withhold from him the power to carry out that oath. Especially if fulfilling the oath is presented as his divinely ordained duty on which his salvation depends.
Pope Zachary said something similar to Pepin the Short.
“Restore the things that are gone to decay, maintain the things that are restored, punish and reform what is amiss, and confirm what is in good order: that doing these things you may be glorious in all virtue; and so faithfully serve our Lord Jesus Christ in this life.”
I normally avoid being snobbish, but this stupid “People’s Convoy” is a bunch of larpers who saw what happened in Canada and thought it would be cool to do the same thing, even though the situation is completely different here. Absolute clownery.
"Punish working people as revenge against DC for punishing working people"
This trucker convoy just looks dumber and dumber the more people try to defend it
The most non-evil motive for opposing this measure that I've been able to find was that it would force doctors to attempt traumatic and invasive life-saving measures on infants who were going to die anyway.
Women should get a "pregnancy card" at their first sonogram appointment. The card would allow you to:
- Drive solo in carpool lanes
- Cut to the front of lines
- Use public transit for free
- Access discounts from participating stores and restaurants
- Park in reserved spaces
Young men aren’t having sex!
Nearly a third of men under 30 have not had sex. And a higher percent do not have as much sex as they’d like – not exactly surprising, but this kind of statistic is a sign of much deeper problems.
@StrongTowns
People have such fond memories of college partly because it's the only time in their lives they ever got to live in a dense, walkable community.

Was just thinking about this. Napoleon escaped from an island prison, had all of Europe declare war on him personally, convinced the general of the French army sent to arrest him to turn the troops over to him, marched to Paris, and reclaimed the throne. That actually happened.
@FBillMcMorris
I’m just waiting for the libs to find this and be like, “My doggo is a heckin’ good boy. Why should we let your screaming crotch goblins into stores and not my holsüm pupperinos?”
@TimothyNerozzi
It’s hilarious to me that they brought in Fleabag at the exact moment that Short Round was experiencing an unprecedented career renaissance.

Is she descended from a slave owner because one of her female ancestors was sexually assaulted by a slave owner? Because that would be an important detail.
