@MattWalshBlog Is she descended from a slave owner because one of her female ancestors was sexually assaulted by a slave owner? Because that would be an important detail.

It gets better. She's also descended from a slave owner. On her father's side is a pilgrim. On her mother's side is a slave owner. Looks like Angela Davis owes some reparations.

Angela Davis' ancestors arrived in America on the Mayflower.

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Why would that matter? How many white people that are supposed to pay "reparations" are in that same situation?

@ChrisB_Chambers @MattWalshBlog I'm not arguing in favor of reparations. I just don't think it's a "gotcha" to point out that lots of black people are descended from their ancestors' white owners.

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Doubtful. In that case the white slave owner would formally acknowledge it. Therefore there probably wouldn’t be paperwork for them to be able to trace to

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Everybody is ‘mixed’ Give it a rest. I’m about as white as white can be but I have a 3rd cousin who is black. My great great great grandmother was black. And that’s DNA proven. How about we all commit to reparations to each other then nobody owes anybody anything 😂

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog If this was true, then there would probably not be a traceable ancestry.

@swansenthegreat @MattWalshBlog I do know that. That's why I asked. Being descended from a black slave owner and his wife would be very different from being descended from a white slave owner who rap3d your great-great-(etc) grandmother.

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Children produced by rape don't generally get the name of the father written in the records for historians to trace centuries later, do they now..

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Well the equally important corollary detail in that scenario would be that one of her male ancestors was a slave-owning rapist. You don't just get to select the ancestors you're proud of.

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Wow that’s stretching it without knowing any details. Impossible that two people from different backgrounds could have been mutually attracted to one another 🙄

@hemingquay @MattWalshBlog Exactly. Slavery existed in the North 1500s French "Explorers/Fur Traders" enslaved Africans. British, Dutch & Scandinavian(RI Swedes, NJ Norwegians, etc) had Slave Societies in the North. Slavery existed in the MayFlower Puritan Society; Northern Slavery existed 1500s-1810s
