My mom always told me not to pull over for the police in a dark, lonely location because she had a scary encounter in college. She was pulled over, guy walks up to the passenger side not in a uniform, tried to open the door, & backed off when he saw she wasn’t alone.
@MelissaMyersMD
I ran into someone I knew in the waiting room while working as EMT. She asked if I could go check on her husband who had been brought in by ambulance after cutting his arm at an event. Poor man was completely naked. Why did they cut his pants off for an arm injury?!?
@DrMarinaHarris
I was inpatient & the psychiatrist recommended ECT, stop taking my SSRI, & he would prescribe diet pills so I could lose weight, get married, & have babies so I could “be happy.”
@DianaG2772
I once saw my friend’s 2 dogs walking down the road. I turned around, got the dogs into my car, & drove to my friend’s house. Then her 2 dogs looked out the window when I pulled in the driveway.
Turned out I dognapped a neighbor’s dogs from their own front yard.
@fatfabfeminist
She’s in the replies all “if you watch true crime documentaries” like they don’t choose to feature conventionally attractive victims because more people will watch!
@WisconsinSass
A couple months ago, someone brought their dog to a concert when I was working. It had an emotional support dog vest, but was barking at all the people in the lobby & then they put a muzzle on it.
It just dawned on me that, even though I’ve gained some weight back, I’ve kept off 80 lbs for 5.5 yrs. That’s a HUGE accomplishment! I should be proud of myself!
@sewistwrites
When my brother was 4-5 he asked for a gerbil. My mom said he could have a gerbil when he turned 9. On his 9th birthday, he said “when are we going to pick out my gerbil?” She had totally forgotten she said it.
@clairezagorski
Except the ones who are selling skincare products.
Years ago, I asked my dermatologist about moisturizer & she told me I’d have to talk to the practice’s esthetician. Then I got a sales pitch for $800 worth of products.

We were holding the wall in the ED once & overheard a patient refusing a tetanus shot. My partner leaned over & said “Dude, Google tetanus.”
@emilykmay
My dad loves to tell this story: I was trying to play with an outlet, he hit my hand. A few minutes later, my Nana pulled into the front yard. I had called and told her he hit me.
And that’s how my dad learned I knew how to speed dial my grandparents.
@londyloo
My PA program is currently trying to kick me out for being “unprofessional.” They have cited a clause in the student handbook about emotional fortitude because I was honest about experiencing depression and SI.
@gradydoctor
A local pharmacy here in Jacksonville has been doing this! The owner bought a small travel trailer & has done pop-up vaccine clinics. They also take walk-ins at the pharmacy & help people fill out the info.
@MiriVinni
With 10 kids, the older ones provided childcare for the younger ones. That’s how they could go out at night.
My dad’s 1 of 7, his oldest sister says her childhood ended at 10 because she had to care for the others.
@emilykmay
She had help from the older daughters. My dad’s oldest sister says her childhood ended at 10 when my grandmother had her second set of twins in 2 years. She’s now 80, my dad is 72, & she is still a mother to him.
@Theresa_Chapple
The few times people have commented to me about my mask, they’ve shut up quickly when I say “I’m an EMT on an ambulance & I transport Covid patients”
@Average_Dad1
The shipyards here had a very large whistle that blew to wake people up, blew when work started, lunch, & quitting time. It’s now downtown & it stills blows, you can hear it for miles.
@kathryniveyy
As an EMT, I’ve been punched in the face, called by first & last name & told I’d be “easy to kill,” had a patient masturbate in the ambulance with me, groped on multiple occasions, lots of comments on my body, screamed at, cursed at, etc. I always document, but nothing happens.
@sewistwrites
My family always talks about the year my teenage aunt told my toddler older brother “there’s a baby turkey in the oven and we’re going to eat it.”
He’s 45 & still doesn’t eat turkey.
@Sophiepedia
@Sinmiaraoye
In my experience as an EMT, most people I’ve worked with are conservative & follow the party line on covid. Many are unvaccinated & believe what they see on social media about it.
@DrJenGunter
The amount of shit people keep sending my mom about “cures” for her stage 3C ovarian cancer is mind boggling and makes me so angry. Essential oils, alkaline diets, elderberry syrup, etc
@raw_em_md
Every time I transport a kid on a 72 hour hold, I tell them about my own diagnosis with depression & anxiety when I was 12. I tell them I’m proud of them for telling someone & that I believe they are strong enough to get through it.
@AngelaSNMF
@ERshitmagnet
Calling 911 does not mean you’ll be seen faster. If it’s not a true emergency, you’re most likely getting a very expensive ride to the waiting room.
@roxiqt
My cousins planned their destination wedding in the Bahamas with the ceremony on one island & reception on another. They thought there would be a bridge.
@DrJenGunter
I hate Mother’s Day because I have always wanted to be a mother, but that’s not how my life has worked out. I’m working Sunday & I know patients will ask me all day why I’m not home with my kids.
@HARRlS0N_
My cousin is an OBGYN resident, her mother is a pediatrician. When my cousin fell in love with OB & decided not to pursue derm, my aunt lamented the loss of income & tried to convince her to apply to derm.

@RNSuperHero
The patient had dementia & was combative, my partner was afraid he’d get hit. He had also spent the whole shift bragging about interviewing with the fire dept.
I yelled “how the hell are you going to be a firefighter if you’re afraid of an old man?” 😂😂

I don’t understand why they say women in their early 20s are the first generation to benefit.
I’m 41, I got the HPV vaccine in 2007.
@rachmph
Reminds me of the time I was at the peds ER with a patient when a crew came in with a home birth gone wrong. The dad was calmly filming the whole thing, it was bizarre.
