Can we all just agree that the delivery of the Covid vaccine in the UK wd have been remarkable no matter who was PM, or which party was in power at the time? It was the NHS workforce who rallied & delivered it, often in our own time. I’m fed up of BJ claiming the credit for it.
This was 6pm on Friday in Waitrose. My husband asked why there were no fresh vegetables & was told there have been supply chain issues.
Thanks mum & dad. You got your blue passports in exchange for empty shelves. I hope you’re happy.

Pt in tears as PIP payment stopped without warning. Correspondence went to previous address. They are isolated, live alone with small child. Spending Xmas day alone. Tried DWP yesterday but closed for Xmas. What has this country become? It’s just cruel.
Congratulations Prince Harry for your

I have Covid now. Hospital Trust removed mask mandates. I continued to wear mine but we really needed the patients to wear them, which the trust said they couldn’t enforce. Now 7 members of staff off in a small practice. I am furious.
@johnredwood
Hey John, where have you been? There aren’t enough staff. There are approx 133,400 vacancies in the NHS. No amount of management can magic up staff. Please stop tweeting rubbish like this. It’s insulting.
I am muting this thread as the Brexiteers are starting to pile on. I don’t think there is such a thing as a pleasant Brexiteer. Feel free to prove me wrong.
@AzureDoo
Reminds me of the time when I was poorly as a child & when my dad came home from work he came straight up to see me & asked ‘do you feel rough?’. I felt the skin on my arms which was perfectly smooth, and answered ‘no?’. I had no idea what he was talking about! 🤣
I am currently filling in my proposed PDP on my appraisal portfolio:
‘I’m a bit tired of setting unrealistic goals each year. My goal is therefore to remain a GP for the next year’.
Is that reasonable?
I detest the Tories as much as they detest working people, anyone with a disability, refugees, lefty lawyers, unions, protesters, anyone who goes on strike, woke people, people on benefits, hungry children, human rights & the environment.
That’s fair isn’t it?
#DetestToryValues
@SteveBarclay
@BMA_JuniorDocs
Sounds like you’re really serious 🥱
Last working day before strike action & you’ve written a letter?
Also heard you didn’t turn up to the meeting today.
Disingenuous & quite frankly insulting.
@DrShanHussain
@Telegraph
How did we get to this point?
A Telegraph journalist can tweet this rot, so emboldened by those who follow her & her fellow ‘anti-woke’ colleagues, that she is entirely confident that there will be no consequences for her whatsoever.
#ToryBritain
What say you
@Telegraph
?
If I find a duty day of undifferentiated patients hard after being a GP for 17 years (and it took 10 yrs to become a GP), how exactly are we to be replaced by a workforce who have done a 2 year training programme?
So glad I left this Trust last month. I have moved back to grass roots General Practice where the team cares about its doctors. I wrote to medical staffing a month after leaving as I cannot access my payslips & this is the response.
Pt with chest pain yesterday seen by paramedics. Told to call us today to request troponin.
Paramedics, if you think they need a troponin, take them to hospital.
I am in hospital with my 10 year old - he needed emergency surgery in the early hours. We have had exemplary care. So very grateful. Some fruit baskets & honey coming soon to the surgical team, theatre team & Rainbow Ward at West Suffolk Hospital. 🙏

Update:
@Depheruk
have been in touch with the person involved (with their consent) & made a significant donation, meaning this parent & child will be ok for the coming wks until we can help them appeal the decision. Thank you to all who offered to help & for tagging

@mailplus
Look closely at these paving stones Matt.
I took this photo in March 2020. The staff from the care home I looked after wrote messages from the residents to let the outside world know they were ok & safe.
A month later many of these people died or were dying of Covid.
@toryboypierce
You have no moral authority.
Junior docs are on the same wage as I was earning as a jn Dr 20yrs ago, except they come out of med school with huge debt.
The staffing is unsafe. They are pleading with the gvt to do something about it to improve recruitment & retention. It’s unsafe.
@99cwriter
Ha ha gratitude indeed!
My mum didn’t give me the opportunity to shop in Waitrose, I did.
Sadly my parents are racist bigots & believed the Vote Leave lies.
Thank you James
@Depheruk
from the bottom of my heart.

Diagnosis wasn’t over the phone though was it. GP saw good quality photos like this one.
I am also querying the dx as strange presentation for Lyme disease. He wd have to have had several tick bites. Appears more like erythema multiforme. Seems A&E f2f failed to make correct dx.
@IRONONTHEUP
Building site looks preferable at the moment. I’m a builder’s daughter.
Try poorly ventilated rooms, catching Covid from pts because your bosses removed mitigations, no breaks, 14 hr days, no control over workload, under resourced, under staffed.
@ultimapaul
Please tell me you don’t have daughters.
Never been caught short Paul? Bet you were glad you had plenty of toilet paper stuffed in your pockets just in case.
Well sometimes periods happen when you don’t expect them, in the middle of a busy night shift.
@SDriverxxx
Fab question. The response from parents & in laws is ‘don’t be daft, they wouldn’t do that, We’ve paid our stamp’, when I warn them about privatisation. My FIL actually said it should be privatised, to which I said, ‘good luck getting health insurance in your 80’s!’ 😳
This has not been thought through at all.
I had high hopes for Labour, but not anymore.
I’m fed up with the denigration of our profession. I am a highly trained diagnostician & without us secondary care would be overwhelmed.
Fund the NHS properly & let us do our jobs.
@rickygervais
Bumble bee rescue today. My 6 yr old found an exhausted bumble bee. We fed it sugar syrup then put her in warm sunshine and off she flew! X
@SteveBarclay
No that simply means these doctors are on £20K less than they should have been earning by now.
Failed Test & Trace = £37bn
Cost of unusable PPE = £10bn
Cost of restoring pay = £1bn
Who is being unreasonable now?
This person blocked me for asking them to name the surgery that is allegedly charging for BP checks. Turns out it was a private provider.
This is what you get when you vote Tory people.
Yes read it & weep my friends.
@SteveBarclay
Yes we find this hard to swallow given the billions spaffed up the wall to Test & Trace & dodgy PPE contracts.
Try harder. Find a way.
Or don’t find a way and we’ll let Labour have a go at running this country. I never had to refer pts to food banks back then.
@SteveBarclay
@BMA_JuniorDocs
@Telegraph
Junior doctors are on £14 an hour.
You have the audacity to say that you urge
@BMA_JuniorDocs
to come to the negotiating table but you didn’t turn up yesterday.
You’re gaslighting UK doctors. Please stop.
Can’t wait to vote you all out of government. So utterly disappointing.
So let me get this right, Tory party accepted £2.3M Russian money. Leave campaigns also had Russian funding which influenced Brexit ref. BJ met Lebedev without officials after Salisbury poisoning. BJ re-elected & delays publication of Russia report. War in 🇺🇦. AL not sanctioned.
@Keir_Starmer
Keir, come and sit with me for a day and I will show you the complexities that we deal with on a daily basis. I’m disappointed & I was all set to vote for you, but not now. You clearly do not understand General Practice, nor the NHS for that matter.
Who on Earth is advising you?
@krishgm
Oh god. There is no hope now.
Again another politician denigrating our profession. If it was that easy then… why isn’t everyone a GP? 🤔
#TeamGP
God forbid a highly trained clinical pharmacist prescribes a blood pressure tablet. 🙄
Wouldn’t be without my clinical pharmacist colleagues! Worth their weight in gold. 💛
2-tier health system in Australia here we come. When a pharmacist can prescribe a blood pressure tablet or antibiotics without a medical degree.
We're not in great shape.

This is not America.
It just doesn’t work like that here.
It won’t go anywhere. The individual will say they are following guidance.
No one has been held accountable for the care home tragedy. There is no accountability.
@johnredwood
Leaving the EU was all about trashing our rights & allowing the rich to continue to move wealth offshore.
The EU is promoting tax good governance mechanisms, fair taxation & tax transparency in order to tackle tax fraud, evasion & avoidance. No wonder rich Tories voted to leave.
@johnredwood
Let me spell this out for you as you don’t seem to have grasped what has happened.
Tory cuts have caused staff to leave.
Brexit has meant fewer EU nurses & Drs moving here to work.
There are over 133,000 NHS vacancies.
Pay them appropriately & staff will return.
#NursesStrike
@filius_jack
Ah thank you. Yes it is painful to witness. I seek solace in gardening too. Very rewarding & good for the mind. Such a good idea.
My hobbies are beekeeping & pottery. I may revisit selling honey & pots for a living! 🤣
@PennyMordaunt
On your gvt’s watch.
They obviously cannot recruit partners to take over.
They are likely suffering trying to deliver the impossible with meagre resources by themselves.
This is the result of woeful investment in General Practice over the last 12 yrs. We tried to warn you.
@DRROBERTROYCE
How utterly patronising.
1. What has the earning power of people on waiting lists got anything to do with doctors’ pay erosion?
2. You failed to mention the £60K -£100K debt that most graduates incur to pay for their training.
3. JDs are earning what I was earning 20 yrs ago.
@RishiSunak
Test & Trace was a disaster & cost £37bn.
Truss & Kwarteng lost £30bn that wd have paid all hcws what they are worth many times over, but this is glossed over like it never happened.
You wrote off billions in fraudulent Covid loans.
Excuse me if I find your deal insulting.
@TalkTV
@drdavidbull
@JJAnisiobi
@WhichPennySmith
Says a non-practising doctor who didn’t finish junior doctor training to become a consultant so that he could earn more money doing something else.
Why does he even need BMA membership?
Just wow!
Respiratory team asking me to refer a patient to the Long Covid clinic because they are ‘not permitted to do this’. Really? Now having to trawl through notes to fill in the long form & get pt to complete screening tool. Surely resp should be able to refer to their own clinics?
I am a GP. I managed an outbreak of Covid in a care home in April 2020 & many residents died. I had my first vaccine almost a year ago. I am boosted. Both my young boys got Covid in Oct/Nov. My youngest is autistic & still sleeps in my bed. I did not get Covid. The vaccines work.
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
Reminds me of the time you said people in a burning building should not have followed advice & instead used their common sense.
Tell me Jacob, why did you become a politician? I think you’re in the wrong line of work.
@SteveBarclay
You’re not discussing pay. Your door is not open. You have the ability to stop these strikes by paying nurses & paramedics a decent wage.
Looking forward to voting the lot of you out of gvt.
You had money for Test & Trace & dodgy PPE contracts but refuse to pay NHS staff fairly
Why are people not testing for Covid anymore? I had a whole day of chests from pneumonia to bronchiolitis to a number of school children who all came back from a school ski trip unwell with coughs & temps. Not one had done a test. In fact they appeared surprised that I asked.
@RynTin85
@PregnantScrewed
Yep it’s like another mortgage. In Sweden childcare is subsidised by the gvt so the cost of full time childcare is £100 a month. All women go back to work. They value women & their contribution. This country doesn’t as evidenced by our toxic gvt & right wing media.
@drbrender
@DGlaucomflecken
@nataliemwall
Cool your jets dude. This is Dr Glaucomflecken you’re speaking to. He’s a real ophthalmologist, y’know eye doctor, operates and everything. It should please you to know that he treats his medical students like human beings. He is also a very talented comedian.
So I submitted a locum time sheet for extra hrs in my own practice & was told that I can only bill till 18.30 as that’s when the shift ends. I stayed until 19.00 as of course as a regular GP I receive more admin than an ordinary locum. In which other profession does this happen?
Katy doesn’t have child care costs & mouths to feed, a car to run & fuel to buy.
I know it’s not your fault Katy but why on earth did you let this man make an example of you? Tell him to sod off.
Katy works for me. She is single & earns less than 30k, rents a room for £775pcm in Central London, has student debt, £120 a month on travelling to work saves money every month, goes on foreign holidays & does not need to use a foodbank.
Katy makes my point really well.
@Saramac7
@DrSdeG
piss off , And just because you had it shit it should stay them eh. Dont lie you never did 7 nights . GPs need to fight, scope creep being celebrated etc...
@RishiSunak
@SteveBarclay
Is that a pot of coffee I see next to you?
This image is the antithesis of what A&E looks like at the moment. Staff unable to eat or drink or even go to the toilet b/c the dept. is heaving with pts & more waiting in ambulances outside.
Too little too late.
Enjoy your coffee…
@Orileyuk1
@IRONONTHEUP
Erm health and safety. Join a Union for goodness sake.
Quite gladly would be motor engineer.
Froze yesterday as window open because if all the resp illness.
I really don’t think the public understand what we do. You assume far too much, or are easily mislead by right wing rags
@Jacob_Rees_Mogg
You mean before the Tory government?
What an outrageously inappropriate tweet, given the Russian interference in the referendum, (& ultimately our democracy) & the acceptance by the Tory party of obscene amounts of Russian money.
If Charles knew, why didn’t you?
@RishiSunak
We actually need a revolution.
I really don’t care what you have to say. The damage is done. The Tories have wreaked havoc on this country & some of it is irreparable.
The sooner the Tories are out the better.
Shame on this government & those who continue to support them.
@kelvmackenzie
Please don’t tell your children that junior doctors are on £14 ph as they will not want to study medicine. They are asking for £19 ph.
You’re welcome.

Remove this tweet. It’s well known that Greta Thunberg used to have an eating disorder where she severely restricted her food intake. This kind of bullying is unacceptable.
@AlisonGeorge10
Sounds like our parents would get on like a house on fire.
My mum (also in favour of the Rwanda scheme) is a Trump supporter which says it all really.
Introducing Ian Williams everyone.
Ian thinks it’s ok to say GPs aren’t seeing pts.
Ian has sadly been taken in by our right wing gutter press.
Would anyone like to set the record straight and educate him?
I’m really bored of this.
Good luck Ian - you’re going to need it.

@IsabelOakeshott
They set an excellent example in that it shows children that we have the ability to stand up for our rights.
Perhaps you’d like to give up your right to annual leave, bank holidays, sick pay & pension; all rights won through industrial action.

Oh bloody hell, I hear the shotguns in the fields as the annual Boxing Day pheasant hunt appears to be in full swing.
Tempted to go for a walk with Monty off the lead so some of them can fly away. I don’t agree with blowing birds out of the sky.
@SteveBarclay
No it’s not.
A 35% increase on £14.09/hr = £19.02
A doctor qualified for 10 yrs carrying out life saving surgery/ c-sections/ med reg/anaesthetist/ intensivist is earning £28 an hr & a 35% increase = £37.8/hr.
Your tweet is disingenuous as the pay has not increased for 20yrs.
@13028survivor
@DeborahMeaden
Because it’s morally & ethically wrong.
Anyone who argues that it isn’t needs to seriously reflect on their character. They also need to educate themselves on the rise of the Third Reich in 1930s Germany. If you don’t see similarities then we really are in trouble.
Yesterday I got a screen message to say pt in waiting room was in a hurry. I was over-running half an hour & I had asked reception to apologise. Brought pt in - they had at least 5 problems to discuss. Didn’t occur to them that this might be why I overrun. 😤

How many times do I need to say this?
THE PATIENTS ARE NO LONGER WEARING THEM.
When we were both wearing them, patients were safer & staff were safer. Remove a mask from either wearer = more aerosols. It’s not difficult.
It’s really quite tiring to keep explaining this.
@ObserverUK
@BWallArthur
Yet it’s the junior doctors/ nurses/ teachers/rail workers who are greedy?
Read it and weep my friends.
Pure unadulterated avarice.
