Putting a pause on family vacation to announce that I’ve been promoted to Associate Professor with
#tenure
! Starting out in academia, I never dared to think I would become a professor. It was an uphill battle with being first gen, black woman in STEM, and a single parent trainee.
So OVERJOYED to announce my lab‘s NSF CAREER proposal has been recommended for funding! This is my dream grant;integrating amazing rhomboid biology research with outreach. The Neal lab will partner with Miramar Community College and expose students to cutting-edge research!
Undergraduate researchers deserve to be paid! I co-founded a new URM mentorship program call BUMMP that will provide scholarships for undergraduate researchers who are burdened financially. Please spread the love and donate to a wonderful cause! Thank you!
On CLOUD NINE after my tenure talk and soaking in the moment! UCSD is a special place with amazing colleagues, trainees, and students and I am grateful to be a part of this thriving community♥️♥️♥️
