I'm doing something new. There are plenty of things I believe on insufficient evidence. The internet loves to tell you when you're an idiot. And I want to find out if there is something to my unsupported views. So I'll be asking AM I AN IDIOT each day with a new topic. Fun!

I am not a Pennsylvania attorney, so take this with a grain of salt, but your state has the Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Act, which shifts attorney fee's to the company if you win. May want to consider hiring a lawyer, you likely can with no money down.
Earnestly, do we not make distinctions like this ALL THE TIME? Some cartoons are for kids, some aren't! Some music is music is good for kids, some isn't! You bring your kids someplaces, sometimes, others not at other times. This is the stuff of normal life.
Who in the world is going to distinguish between racy, stripper adult drag queens" and "fun, costumed non-blue drag queens"? What are you possibly thinking

Neither Biden nor Pelosi reckoned with an uncomfortable fact: Slain Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknich was a Trump supporter.

My mom, a lifelong Republican in Ohio turned Never Trumper, texted this to me a little bit ago. She's definitely a higher information voter than most, and had no idea how to spell Kamala (or what btw means).
I read Atlas Shrugged in high school and found it exhilarating. I told my favorite teacher about it, and he commented that it is popular with HS students but that I would likely age out of it. It was the most devastating and effective literary critique I've ever experienced.
25 books that should be on every school curriculum but aren't:
Fiction:
1. The Brothers Karamazov - Fyodor Dostoevsky
2. 1984 - George Orwell
3. Anna Karenina - Leo Tolstoy
4. The Lord of the Rings - J. R. R. Tolkien
5. Brave New World - Aldous Huxley

Bless your heart. I know there isn't a point to arguing with someone who could cure their ignorance with a little Google, so I wish you well in life. It's hard enough getting through the day without willful ignorance, so I have to think you have a hard road ahead.

You're right, it is unfair to make fun of people who accepted easy money from the government for their for profit businesses without having to establish actual economic downturn, and it is cool that those same people are Big Mad a teacher in Des Moines gets $10k loan forgiveness.

If you like this video, check out this great PBS show about The Bat Man of Mexico, about the tequila bats that make the drink possible. It's about science, culture, and the power of normal people coming together.

You know you're a clear thinker who is open to questioning or challenging your ideas when you make broad ad hominem arguments against people you assume you disagree with.
I put pronouns in my bio after listening to arguments and changing my mind, btw.
Dueling, unrelated protests in downtown Sacramento today. Trump supporters are still here as with every other weekend since the election. There's also an energetic group protesting Indian farm policy. Anti-Modi group is drowning out Proud Boys.

People should embrace it! My dad is super into genealogy, and I'm descended from dirt farmers as far back as the records in little Catholic churches in Europe will go. Now I'm tweeting at strangers with my pocket super computer. I think that's awesome.
If I ventured a guess, as neither a conservative nor centrist, the rhetoric described as "woke" has been convincing to a relatively small but significant chunk of Americans, and they disproportionately influence powerful institutions.
Centrists and rightists should be asked how they reconcile
1. "Wokeness" is bad at convincing people
2. "Wokeness" is now culturally dominant
3. Institutions at large have embraced "Wokeness"
Does "wokeness" fail to convince people, or has "wokeness" convinced too many people?
So, yesterday someone threw a stick at me while I was biking home from the gym and hit me in the head. 12 hours later I still have concussion symptoms. Not sure what's worse, how much much my head hurts or how sad this situation make me.

As someone who makes hiring decisions, when I see someone started at a community college I see someone practical, hardworking and self-motivated. California has especially good public secondary education, so that is a major factor, but I value CC to UC more than 4 year UC.

And we happen to live in a country awash in guns. I'm the wife of a hunter who recognizes gun control is problematic. But we have to recognize you're more likely to use a tool if it's easy to get. The stats are pretty clear about gun access and suicide, for example.

Today I learned that in Denmark, babies are left outside to sleep in their strollers without the fear of being kidnapped. Imagine feeling this safe in a country.
I've been arguing for years On Here that many of the complaints about SJWs and wokeness are complaints about human behavior common to every social movement, and I feel so vindicated by recent turns in the anti-woke and IDW sphere.

I'm willing to bet real money that Whoopi was not in fact influenced by CRT. But if your whole shtick is CRT = bad, your hammer turns everything into a nail.
The vapidity of the concept of "whiteness" and its attendant conclusions reaches its apex in the Whoopi discourse. She clearly is influenced by ideas from CRT that racism only flows one-way (white on black) & hence deconstructs the Holocaust through a dichotomous, racialized lens

Greta, Tate and Racism
Greta represents the apex of liberalism. She is a white, blonde woman. She can do no wrong.
For liberals, racism by Greta, a white woman, to Tate a black man, should be cheered, shared and reported.
Letβs look at this deep rooted racism /1

I support the pro-war US policies in Ukraine, and I believe the nuclear risk they carry are worth it because failing to support Ukraine poses major risks to global stability.
Itβs mind-numbing. If they just said, βI support the pro-war US policies in Ukraine, and I believe the nuclear risk they carry are worth itβ then at least you could have a rational debate on those terms. But you canβt even extract basic acknowledgments of reality from them
This makes me wonder what concrete examples are of this harm. I have a hard time trying to imagine what, specifically, is bad about a society with hard working people who don't manage to meet their intellectual goals.

A dear friend of mine and his husband adopted a child so neglected by his parents that his growth was stunted and he struggles with severe learning disabilities. Their son just finished a year with AmeriCorp and is heading to college. Strange form of child abuse.
For me, by the time I felt financially ready to have kids, it was much harder to get pregnant. I'm now several years deep into fertility treatments and miscarriage, and despite wanting to have three, would be happy to have just one.
