Finished my twilight shift at 3am yesterday. Asked the tea lady if I could have a packet of bourbons which she was handing out to patients. She said no. I looked her in the eye and took a packet anyway. Now waiting for my GMC tribunal letter.

Today I did my first general medicine shift in a while. A medically fit patient has been waiting for a discharge destination for over 120 days. Your critically unwell family member is on an ambulance for the last 18 hours. @theresecoffey what you gonna do about this?

I’m amazed that some NHS trusts offer these services at night. A real dream for a junior doctor who can concentrate on reviewing the sick patients during the night.

@DrStrangetwit Sure infection control wouldn’t care, just make sure he’s not wearing a watch or more than 2 plain rings.

I believe there is a contractual right for hospitals to provide an element of free rest area for staff. However, a small dingy room with a semi reclining chair and transparent curtains is simply not acceptable.

It’s kinda sad how charities are set up to fund hospitals, donating sometimes millions of £ per year e.g. new equipment. Like isn’t that what the government should be doing? Rather than person X completing a marathon so a paeds ward can get a new defibrillator.

So why is the starting salary of an F1 Doctor £28,000 and a PA £38,000. This is not meant to be a disrespectful post towards PA’s. After all, the work of a PA and FY Doctor is practically the same. Ward work is ward work.
