@DecorumManager Was put on hold for 10 min today so the phone answerer could confirm that for a test I'm going to have, will hospital staff be masked. When she reported back (yes they'll mask) I was also informed, "But you don't have to mask." JFC.

Whoa. As echoed by many others here the last couple wks, the PNW hospital where I work has an uptick in covid hospitalizations. This, after very low numbers since April. They removed our mask mandate on 4/3. Will report back in a wk to see what direction we're heading.

@RealGayArbys Absolutely. At least 1 in 10 in the US. You just don't see them out as much bc they're limiting or have eliminated crowd time. And all the Asian countries. 85% of Japan is still masking. Globally, at least 1B are masking against wildfire smoke, pollution, allergies & viruses.

@amandalhu It's viewed as "stuck in 2020" when the adaptation is actually very Fall 2023. We view them as very 2019. Which explains their confusion re the "mystery illnesses" to include the dog one. Similar parallels to those following climate change science to those who aren't.

Covid rapid self-test kits, $24.99 for 2. Since they now recommend THREE tests, not two, to raise result accuracy from 62% to 79%, that'll set you back $50. This isn't a serious mitigation strategy, just more morbidly capitalistic bs.

Random update on my mom's senior apt building & how modeling works. I'm not sure if it's all due to her being the lone masker all these yrs, but now the entire wing of her floor all mask! She said 5 of them chatted in the hall today a half hr, masked.
