She was a pioneering scientist on elucidating the role of estrogen & progesterone receptors in the developing mammary gland & in #BreastCancer . In the 1960s, she (along with Jack Gorski) identified that estrogen hormone bound to a receptor (!), a finding that has led to many Rxs.

14 people attended a company scientific advisory board mtg in Germany. The meeting (held in a conf room) lasted 9.5 hours followed by dinner. One presymptomatic #SARSCoV2 + attendee ended up infecting 11/13 in the group, with 58% having moderate #COVID19 .

Just lost a bidding war for a computational biology postdoctoral fellow who got a $100k (!!) offer from St Jude’s - the maximum MDACC salary for “specialized” postdocs is $65k. I feel bad for the straight up cancer biology postdocs who have to make do with a $50-55K salary.

Finally, @Merck publishes its rationale for pursuing certain solid tumors besides #melanoma & #lungcancer with earlier Keytruda monotherapy trials. It was based on molecular profiling of ~16000 primary/met cancers looking at PD-L1, immune signatures.

A 20y timeline on stage at diagnosis & survival in #PancreaticCancer . Per Cancer Statistics 2003, the five year survival of pancreatic cancer overall was 4%. In 2022 it is 12%. Most of those survival gains have come in localized (17% 👉🏽 44%) & regional (7% 👉🏽 15%) disease.
