My one tip for newer devs is to try to stay away from too much magic and abstractions. Applies 2 hosting, packages, frameworks etc. Eventually you’ll learn to appreciate simplicity but only after your 1000 paper cuts with the magic as you make your way through the midwit spectrum

Lambda is not expensive, API gateway is especially if all you’re using it for is as a proxy. People get this mixed up all the time You could use ALB but then run into other limitations like 1mb req/res limits
