@coereba This! Also, when no one on the design team has kids or pets who might be TERRIFIED of invisible stairs. We had a lab who would literally piss himself every time he saw stairs with gaps between the steps. Imagine that + see through steps. 😅Nightmare.

@AlixEHarrow I travelled a lot for work when our daughter was young. We'd read up on each place I was going. When she realized the average life expectancy in one place was younger than my current age, she was heartbroken. "If we were there, you'd already be dead!" Hard conversations.

My brother-in-law caught COVID at an outdoor meeting. 8 people in attendance, 6 of them ended up infected. Given how things can linger & spread, wearing a mask outdoors is perfectly acceptable.

I went for a booster today. No one (not even the nurses) were masking. The volunteer told us it was very important to sanitize our hands on the way in & out, but no concern about raw-dogging the air in a small room with zero ventilation. The disinformation campaign has won.🙄

@theBrianaMills My dr. is now charging a 20$ fee to renew prescriptions over the phone or via their electronic portal. The fee is waived if you come for an in-person visit. It's a policy that will hit disabled and marginalized patients the most.

@ghostcatbce @JillFilipovic Same with concussion and traumatic brain injury. I think I was one of the only ones in my support group who was still with their partner. Women are more likely to suffer from post-concussion syndrome, and apparently some men have trouble dealing with the changes in their spouse.

@dreamsofskies I forget what it's like to have energy. I remember going for runs after work. I remember socializing without crashing. Exhaustion is so normal that I start wondering if it's all in my head, because I don't remember what it felt like to have the energy to do those things.

@salamasinamusic My colleagues with young kids just seem to have accepted it. After the 1st COVID infection, their kids have been sick non-stop...and they just...do nothing. Complain a little. Gripe about the "cold" going around. It's a bizarre form of deep denial.

@UrsulaV My husband got a warning for wearing a shirt with a pirate flag and the slogan "the beatings will continue till moral improves"...while he was acting manager in a government office (non-public facing) Senior management was not amused. The staff, on the other hand, loved it.

Great video & 🧵 I got chickenpox as a child before the vaccine was available. I had shingles twice in my 30s. The pain is...something else. Way above childbirth...just below migraine.

Did you know that the same virus that causes chickenpox also causes shingles? It's called the varicella zoster virus. Chickenpox is usually a milder illness that affects children, whereas shingles results from a reactivation of the virus later on in life.

@RRBigBang @langston_120 Similarly, I told my VERY YOUNG dr. I was struggling with weight gain and fatigue despite eating the same and exercising. She told me everything was normal and that I was older now and should just get used to it. No empathy whatsoever & now I'm reluctant to talk to her.
