@Jackstilgoe
Bizarre I hope you get it sorted.
We were recently accused of plagiarism, it turns out it had similar phrases to, er, our own conference abstract describing an early phase of the work. Turns out I have a similar turn of phrase to me.
@carolecadwalla
@carolecadwalla
well done in both bringing attention to this and keeping it in the public eye. It's a partial victory but a victory nonetheless. One day this will be important in weighing up what was happened.
@nmrqip
@CeliaRichards0n
Floods happen with greateryy frequency due to human induced climate change. Their effects are made worse due to poor land management and deforestation. The NT are right to point this out. Stop sticking your head in the sand!
@riotgrandma72
@ThatTimWalker
When councils have assets they can borrow against them to invest. Once they are sold they lose both control and collateral.
@lizbonnin
@NHSuk
Deepest sympathy for your loss. The eloquence with which you describe both the medical care but also the political failures that led to this speak highly of you.
@GeorgeParish18
Why? Provided his security can be managed (and few places are more secure than flights) then why waste money and CO2? Sunak has been incredibly profligate with needless private jet / helicopter flights. Personally I respect thrift.
@ProfRachelGaN
Peterson is not an appropriate person to be in any school. If this were my kids' schools I'd be very unhappy. Fortunately the Principals of their schools are sane. Free schools are a experiment that should be ended ASAP
@mikegalsworthy
A Tory complained I'd called their party "corrupt." "The local party are not corrupt" he said. This is true. But if you don't want to be associated with the national party, don't wear the rosette.
I got elected today as a Lib Dem councillor with ~double their vote
@SocEnvJustice
"Social Environmental Justice" as a title for anti-LTN pressure group. Do me a favour. Calling yourself "selfish drivers who hate pedestrians and cyclists" has the benefit of honesty and will save us all trips to eye hospital caused by rolling them too far.
@AdamRutherford
I studied Far from the Madding Crowd for English O level. The only thing I learned was never to read another Thomas Hardy book. I've stuck to that since religiously. I'm now 55. I've no memory of any of the other books we studied.
@DAaronovitch
I'm 100% British (born,educated and lived here all my life) and regard no-deal as the largest piece of treachery that will ever have been conducted against the British people.
@CeliaRichards0n
Well done for protecting
@nationaltrust
against those Tufton Street lunatics. I look forward to NT concentrating on protecting ecosystems and improving biodiversity in our countryside.
@MitchBenn
We should use this to our advantage. Simply start making "not drinking strychnine" a statement of woke identity and watch them guzzle it down.
@CyclingLawLDN
No one uses cycle lanes ..blah.. Its all cycle couriers... blah.. no one stops at red lights ... blah.
How very dare you show evidence of cycling demand and law abiding cyclists? Have a thought for radio phone-ins needing mindless knee jerk opposition to cyclists.
@jessphillips
Celebrating an abuser on the death of someone who was abused by him is not appropriate behaviour for a headteacher. If she wants to be RW troll she should not be in charge of a school.
@nmrqip
Your closed mind is made up. But if you actually looked at evidence you'd see clear picture of increases in intense rainfall. But you won't will you because facts are not your concern.
@tommlancaster
@James_BG
@Telegraph
@mattwridley
is presented as a scientist by the Telegraph. He's not. He's a hereditary peer / failed businessman who was in charge of Northern Rock when it went bankrupt. I know not his qualifications to comment on solar power but competence is not obviously on the list.
@TomChivers
Golf courses are an environmental travesty: over watered, monocultures maintained with heavy chemical use. They are also closed to public access. Pretending they are valuable green space is a lie.
@iainmartin1
It's the most irrelevant topic. When do my A levels (1987) ever get compared with an 18yo's? If we went for the same job they'd ask what the hell I'd been doing for the last 34 years not why I only got C in Chemistry.
Well done to all kids with results today. Enjoy uni!
@sheffbicycle
I thought all cyclists were supposed to be middle class enemies of working class drivers? There's just no consistency of abuse these days.
@iainmartin1
My 15yo has accepted this as a necessary cost of being back at school with his friends working for his GCSE. No fuss just like his attitude to being vaxed. Its adults who behave like babies.
Is there a tweet with 200k likes in support of the Tory's migration policy. It appears that Gary and Ian have the public's support, not the government or their media cheerleaders.
@suchan104
@Politics_co_uk
@RhonddaBryant
Utter rubbish. Johnson ignored lockdowns he espoused for everyone else and lied about it in parliament. Parliament own disciplinary process has rightly to sought to suspend him. He ran away.
Defending him just because you agree with his policies shows you to be immoral.
@jonsopel
Both the BBC Chairman and DG are showing themselves to be either spineless or Tory Party shills, or most likely both. They are unfit to continue in those roles
#IStandWithGary
@JonnElledge
My family went to Malham Cove this Autumn. You can see a coal fired power station from there (?Drax). This is not pristine landscape untouched by humanity, but it's ecosystem is more likely to survive with wind powered generation than the fossil fuel plants they ignore.
@DeborahMeaden
But just think about all our trade with Liechtenstein. That's at least 10 bottles of whisky and an entire box of Smarties (I may be exagerating about the Smarties)
@jonsopel
How do republicans not look at messages like this and not think the man is plainly mad? This is the kind of gibbering that for most of us would result in getting sectioned.
@lisaocarroll
@caitlinmoran
Can you imagine Sunak taking action against Musk for disseminating illegal terrorist propaganda. No me neither. Respect to EU for taking action.
@mrjamesob
This seems extraordinarily discourteous to
@HackneyAbbott
. She's been the subject of horrible racism by a man associated with the PM and should have been given the opportunity to question him about it at "Prime Minister's questions." Otherwise what's the point?
@IanDunt
Any odds on 1st remain MP to cross the floor straight to the
@LibDems
? Given the polls and the momentum-morons
there's no reason for anyone with integrity and sanity to hang around in
@UKLabour
after today
@jonburkeUK
As an outsider the case for action appears strong. If kids can't be kept safe in a school grounds what are we doing as a society? If someone entered a school with a deadly weapon it would rightly be a scandal. Why is this different?
@cillanoir
@jessphillips
Yes I'm a Lib Dem politely suggesting someone who's failing be encouraged to quit. I've been a public sector union rep, if a civil servant he'd be heading for dismissal. 70000 constituents deserve the chance to choose an MP who can represent them
@OliverKamm
@caitlinmoran
There are no rules in language only conventions. These change with time. There's no reason why Raynor's speeches need to be rewritten to sound like someone else.
@clairekholland
@lambeth_council
Congratulations on fighting the opponents to LTN and delivering an improved environments for your residents. A great model for other councils of all parties across the UK.
@Western_Trad
Simpky wrong. Canary Wharfs development has been determined by public transport: DLR, Jubilee line, Crossrail. This is the wrong location to complain about traffic in modern cities
@SustainableTall
Broadmarsh in Nottingham looked very similar to this in this interval. But people like
@Culture_Crit
aren't bothered by concepts like the poor. Just glorifying an imagined olden days where such people knew their place
@OzKaterji
You should name names. I left Labour in 2016
in disgust at the STW crowd. These Putin apologists need to be outed to show the hatred they enable. Congratulations on your superb reporting and support for the freedom of the Ukrainian people.
@MCRCycleSam
Hope you are alright. Councils need to understand that if you invest in cycle lanes you also need to invest in
enforcement to stop cars abusing them otherwise the capital investment is wasted.
@simonmacmichael
If you've ever walked a small child to school past these, they are clearly lethal. There is no reason for such vehicles to be allowed in cities. They need to be banned from urban areas.
@GeorgeParish18
We don't live in USA with routine 1000 mile journeys. Unless going London to Scotland there's no reason to fly at all, never mind private jet, except if there's a clear security justification. PM perhaps but ministers / LotO should be using scheduled services, pref. trains.
@piersmorgan
The differences in quality of the UK vaccination programme and Track and Trace is stark. The difference is involvement of dedicated NHS health professionals. You'd hope Johnson would learn this lesson but I'm not optimistic.
@BrexitBin
@dontbrexitfixit
what are the chances that Christine,who seems to be a serial letter writer, is to young to have any personal experience of WW2 and is in fact talking rubbish.
@Jamesdestafford
Manchester has a tram system, cheap suburban trains and (now) regulated buses. Its almost like they are trying to to tell you something.
@kamilkazani
Thanks for your terrifically informative threads through this crisis. Its helped me understand the utter dysfunction at the centre of Russian government.
@closepassescdf
My 11yo was having cycle training this morning when him, the instructor and myself were cut up by a car trying to overtake where islands clearly made this impossible. Some drivers are simply not fit to be on the road.
@thatginamiller
@SophyRidgeSky
@Channel4News
Because too many regulators are appointed on the basis of political affiliation not competence? Johnson wanted the manifestly unsuitable Dacre for this role.
@jessphillips
Sorry have to disagree, if he can't cope he can quit. If employed in the public services he would be on capability for non-performance ahead of dismissal for dereliction of duty.
@whyteshome
@MayorofLondon
How very dare they provide access to free clean water when people could instead buy sugary drinks in plastic bottles. The temerity of this.
@The_ChrisShaw
SPOILER ALERT: Brexit is a basket case. If only there were some warnings of this or evidence that its proponents weren't entirely honest.
@JolyonMaugham
No. Its saying there is validity in some arguments on both sides and the fringes of each side are being gratuitous in their offense. This was thoughtful and sincere.
@piersmorgan
The scientists are honestly expressing the uncertainty in complex data that has yet to show clear trends. It better to be honest with "we don't know yet" than rush to wrong conclusions. As data increases, understanding changes. Thank goodness for the vaccines.
@mikegalsworthy
Such a clear example of policy only dreamed up to placate JRM's mad racism. This man is toxic to human society, we need to do everything in our power to get this fascist bigot out of the HoC.
@suzanne_moore
If people think they are aiding their political cause by barracking a woman over her moving story of losing babies then they are seriously disturbed.
@Otto_English
Its also electorally suicidal. Even most Tory supporters will regard Trump as a dangerous lunatic, may be 10% of UK public will be attracted by this. Its all about positioning for leadership of the UK hard right and its profitable media jobs.
@Jesse_Norman
@iainmartin1
I disagree with you about many things but expansion of offshore wind power has made serious progress on decarbonisation and kept us from being dependent on Russian gas. It's a very significant achievement. JRM has 0 positive achievements in his worthless career.

Surely time for

spewing misinformation and downright lies. Neil Oliver needs care for his mental health not a platform to spread mindless conspiracies
@natalia_barbour
The thing about companies that sell sofas is that they deliver. Like vendors of fridges or washing machines or wardrobes or dinner table or beds or stoves. I own all of these. I've never picked up any of them in my own car.
@Jayson81Leigh
@AndyBurnhamGM
Really inappropriate. Criticise politicians all you like at other times but not on a thread remembering children killed in a terrorist attack.
@SpaJw
You can respect any MP who resigns from a role because they feels unable to support their party's stance. Rebelling and waiting to be sacked is pure student politics.
@AdamBronkhorst
Nottingham cycle lanes busier with commuters this morning than I think I've ever seen them. Changing commuting habits takes time but when safe routes exist people are changing to them
@cyclegaz
The law needs to change. This wasn't just death by dangerous driving, this was manslaughter by dangerous and negligent driving. He should never be able to drive again.
@Dewix888
@LastBlairite
No, Labour lost in the Red Wall seats around here (Notts) because working class voters considered Jeremy Corbyn an absolute liability. The hard left imposed a toxic leader upon a party without even basic ability. Voters noticed these things and rejected him.
@CTWhite80
@LibDems
I'm watching people get turned away from voting ( most have returned with id but annoyed). A government focused on more than self preservation and self enrichment is needed ASAP

@jonburkeUK
Secure by design is the same bad logic as motorbike barriers on cycle paths. Its dealing (badly) with the symptoms (ASB at locations/blocking motorbikes) rather than the cause, (bored kids causing trouble)
@HCH_Hill
Isn't there something sinister about the MPs and Mail / Telegraph exaggerating and simply fabricating stories about NT (& BBC & NHS) to reduce public confidence in organisations? I think its insidious
@jack71063791
@girlonabrompton
Pure whataboutery
Cyclists who jump red lights (which I don't condone) get themselves hurt.
Dangerous drivers kill other people.
Stop excusing needless deaths and serious injuries.
@DPJHodges
A thoughtful and sensible column. The "too many managers" claim was always nonsense. We need people whose job is to plsman use of NHS resources effectively we maximise the care from them and systems to connect patients with the care they need.
@SocEnvJustice
I've looked at your timeline which seems to be entirely pro-motorised transport anti any restrictions on car journeys. That's your public face so I presume is your intention. Happy to be proved wrong.
