First monitoring report analysing the Railton LTN has found when taking into account roads inside *and roads that bound the LTN*: ⬇️ Car traffic down by 31% across the area ⬇️ HGVs down 23% across the area ⬆️ Cycling up 32% across the area ⬆️ Cycling up 51% within LTN 🚶‍♀️👩‍🦽🛴🚲🌍

Awesome stats. Huge amount of work has gone into building more equitable streets in the past 12 months. In Lambeth, our aim is to build healthy routes safe enough for a 12yo to cycle independently 🚲🚸🛴 Just a few examples of @lambeth_council great work over the last yr!

💥Boom💥 New data: In less than 12 months @MayorofLondon @tfl & @londoncouncils have built 100km of new cycle lanes & hundreds of km of quieter streets. The result? Last weekend we saw a 200%+ increase in cycling (300%+ in some places). Amazing!! Build it & they will come.🚲🚲🚲

We're working with @lambeth_council to make Streatham Hill safer for people walking and cycling, following strong public support at consultation. The permanent changes include segregated cycle lanes, new pedestrian crossings and reduced speed limits.

We will widen pavements for pedestrians at some of our busiest pinch points. We will make interventions in our neighbourhoods that reduce road danger whilst connecting our town centres with safe routes to enable social distancing & safe access to our amazing local businesses.

Work starts this week on one of @lambeth_council 's main rd schemes on Kennington Road btwn Westminster Bridge Rd & Lambeth Rd. Along with what's pictured NB there'll also be: - southbound protected 🚲 lane - stripping out redundant parking southbound to introduce a 🚍 lane 👍

I've joined @LondonLabour Leaders in calling on the government to provide safe & legal routes for Afghan refugees. The scenes in Afghanistan are heartbreaking. The government must work with councils to implement a national resettlement programme so we can provide sanctuary.

Embarrassing behaviour. Have already made it crystal clear these temp measures will be consulted on before becoming permanent. Shouting at ppl with their kids, filming ppl outside their houses. Sad that this is done by a small minority in response to us making our streets safer.

The Cut is now closed to through traffic with wider pavement and planters creating a much better streetscene (though the surface is still terrible for cycling - more pothole than speedhump on some sections) #movefastandfixthings

It was only a matter of time. I hold the astroturf anti-Low Traffic Neighbourhood 'campaigners' responsible for the creation of an atmosphere in which public property is destroyed and Cllrs receive death threats for doing the job they were democratically elected to do.

My first visit as Leader of @LambethLabour has been to see the progress of 30 new affordable homes we're building on the South Lambeth Estate, including 18 council homes. Many people in Lambeth need decent homes. We're building the homes they need - right here, right now.

Improvements to Ferndale LTN on their way. Stage 1 monitoring review showed: ⬇️ traffic down 46% within LTN overall ⬆️ cycling up 69% within LTN (inc 1676% on Pulross Road & 124% on Ferndale Rd) But traffic ⬆️ on western end of Ferndale Rd in line with resident & cllr feedback.

Over 60% of Tulse Hill households don't have access to a car. Therefore as coronavirus persists it's vital that we provide safe, affordable and accessible transport options for everyone in our borough. Letters are in the post to residents with work set to begin by 28 Sept 👍🏼👍🏼

Incredible work by Traffic officers tackling #speeding . Last week we enforced 2,020 speeding offences across #London . By comparison it was 268 in same week in 2019. An 8 fold increase! We are there 24/7 enforcing offences. Please drive lawfully, stay safe & keep a clean licence.

3 Low Traffic Neighbourhoods to be delivered in the next 3 years, with at least one more within the Brixton Liveable Neighbourhood project. Our roads are dominated by rat-running, mostly by those who don't live in Lambeth. Our streets need to be safer and more enjoyable for all

It was great to join Joanne today to visit our 64 newly built council homes on the Westbury estate before she & other residents move in! We're building the first council homes in Lambeth in a generation- and they're spacious, energy efficient, & environmentally sustainable homes

Huge achievement by our Labour @MayorofLondon . During 2016, air on Brixton Road exceeded the hourly legal limit for toxic pollution for 538 hours. Last year, this fell to 0. There have also been no breaches of legal limits in 2020 either 🌿💨

In the Railton area pollution levels were tested daily over 5 years. On days with higher pollution levels GP's🏥saw a rise in patients, particularly children🧒& the elderly🧓with breathing problems😟. Help shape ideas to make it safer😃 & healthier🚶‍♀️🚴🌳
