💥Boom💥 New data: In less than 12 months @MayorofLondon @tfl & @londoncouncils have built 100km of new cycle lanes & hundreds of km of quieter streets. The result? Last weekend we saw a 200%+ increase in cycling (300%+ in some places). Amazing!! Build it & they will come.🚲🚲🚲

Keep an eye out for the new cycle counters we switched on this morning. Now everyone can see the record numbers of Londoners who are cycling as part of their daily lives. Over 300 people went past this one before we could take a picture.

🥶It's chilly out there🥶 @TfL cycle lane de-icing machines (inc the wonderfully named 'Chris Gritty') will be out on London's network tonight to help keep cyclists safe We don't actually use grit as liquid de-icer is safer for bikes & it's non-corrosive so your bike won't rust

In summer 2020, we made changes to London Bridge & Borough High Street to enable more people walk and cycle - including bike lanes, bus & taxi lanes & wider pavements. After listening to feedback we made further improvements and have now decided to make this scheme permanent.

Our new crossings prioritise pedestrians, as opposed to the ones we're used to which prioritise cars. These default to red for traffic & green for people. Sensors then pick up approaching vehicles triggering a countdown for the lights to change. Subtle but important changes @TfL
