People have asked why I am striking whilst two weeks into the job. It's simple. I care about doctors, patients and the NHS. 6 years of training, and almost £100K in loans. My first day was a twilight looking after more than 70 patients. How is this not worth £19 an hour?

Imagine getting an intercalated masters, publishing papers, doing extra curriculars only to lose out on a research position to someone who's shown no prior interest in it... Could have just made more SFPs to help grow the academic workforce but that doesn't save cash 🤷🏾‍♂️

Had a great weekend in Bristol for #BMAJMF 2023. A great event, and if you have any hesitations about @TheBMA or want to dip your toe in, I thoroughly recommend getting involved in events like these. As always if we stick together, fight together, we will win together 💪🏾

@mjv__1 The amount of bullying, and isms in the NHS as a whole is pretty disgusting. The stories I read from some doctors truly makes my heart ache

As part of the @UKFPO allocation review @TheBMA will be submitting a letter with our thoughts on the two systems. What would you like us to consider including? Let me (or your reps) know #MedTwitter

While the discussion on FP24 continues, FP23 is not forgotten! Can not understate how fantastic this news is for final year medical students to have that extra bit of clarity on where their job will be

MSC welcomes the news from UKFPO that there will be NO reserve list for FP23 and that ALL applicants will be allocated a deanery on 9 March. It's great to see that our involvement and support on this issue has helped to make positive changes to students

Thank you to @UoS_Medicine for having me as a speaker for the Diversifying/Decolonising the medical curriculum workshop. After 6 years working with the uni on a range of projects it's always heart warming to see the progress being made in EDI, and the future looks great

Despite the problems, I still believe medicine is one of the best uni courses, with abundances in opportunity. Thank you @WAMSoc_soton for allowing me to share this message with your conference attendees.

Tomorrow starts an unprecedented 9 day walk out The fact we have to strike is not to be celebrated, but our solidarity certainly is. The only language the government seems to (barely) listen to is strike. So what choice do we have but to strike. Again, and again #PayRestoration

This government loves their U-turns. Congrats on making the right decision in the end, but absolutely absurd that we were even in that situation in the first place

It is honestly astounding to me that people continue to talk about increasing medical student places without looking down the line to address the problems current doctors have. We can't just keep churning Drs out and hoping some of them stay. It is incredibly short sighted.

Important addendum: she did propose more medical students. But no mention of further specialty training numbers, and increasing PAs is not going to help the shortage of training opportunities being afforded to tomorrow's consultants.

Happy to say that I am running for Southampton BMA Rep. I'm eager to continue the work I started as Faculty Officer/WAMsoc President and advocate for the mental health of medical students, and push for continued widening access support

They dragged this out in the news so long to pretend it was a hard choice to accept 6% + £1250 courtesy of the pay review body they themselves have admitted is rigged. (Meanwhile Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 is 12.4%) Biggest (junior) doctor strike and this is the offer? Wow

The fight for a better and more inclusive NHS bursary is a fight that we should all be taking part in. The cheers of support for this motion was beautiful to see. Fantastic solidarity visible all day at #MedStudentConf

It's incredible to think a document like this has taken so long to come from medical leadership. Props to @TheBMA for proposing clear guidance while the royal colleges continue to flounder at setting them
