It’s the year 2036/37, the NHS is now run by 136,000 (insert prefix) associates, there’s not a consultant in sight. Medicine is an 18 month apprenticeship and the IMG’s are begging to be sent back home. Those of us with 5 year medical degrees are now thriving in AUS/NZ/CAN/USA.

The SHO’s were talking to one of the consultants about how burnt out we are on our current rota, within 24 hours said consultant emailed us a draft of a new rota and another consultant has contacted the deanery about getting 2-3 F1’s starting Aug 2022, that is true leadership.

I’d like to ask @RCSnews why surgical trainees are charged £799.00 for a TWO day course worth only 12 CPD points whilst PA’s are being sent to 2 week fully funded courses when they are never going to be surgeons?

Surah Ar-Rahman. My niece listened to it everyday during her illness because she was told it would bring her shifa. Before she died she had listened to it that much, that she could recite the whole Surah from memory. My goal now is to memorise it myself إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّٰهُ

Actually Clare I grew up in the North East below the poverty line, under the radar of social services, lost my mum at 11 & was raised by my single immigrant father. I’ve worked since I was 16 and had 2 part time jobs in medical school. I dragged myself up from literally nothing.

My F1 surgical job was horrendous so any time they wanted locum cover I told them I wouldn’t do it for anything less than £55/hr, every time they told me I was asking for too much and every single time they agreed to the rate when they got desperate. Never sell yourself short.
