@lacountydcba
's Rent Relief Program is reopening for applications starting Monday, May 20! 🏠
LA County landlords can start applying in exactly 1 WEEK at . If you are a tenant, make sure to refer your landlord to apply for the program!
This is beyond heartbreaking.
I simply cannot comprehend any acceptable reason why a person flagging down the help of law enforcement at the scene of a car crash ends up dead at their hands.
If our emergency response providers cannot keep us safe, our systems need to change.
Congratulations to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on your honor tonight at Dodger’s Pride Night.
Your commitment to service and our Catholic values inspires me 🙏🏼
Now, let’s go Dodgers!
As a Los Angeles County Supervisor and Metro Board Member, it’s so important to actually understand & experience the systems we’re entrusted to lead.
I’m committing to riding
@metrolosangeles
regularly, & I’m encouraging all of my colleagues to do the same.
All aboard! 🚌🚌🚌
Los Angeles County is home to over TEN million people, with each elected Supervisor representing over two million 🤯
We need more than *five* elected Supervisors to effectively and equitably represent all of Los Angeles County on the Board of Supervisors.
Thank you so much, LA. I’m ready to work hard and fight like hell for a future we can be proud of.
This victory belongs to all of us. Now, let’s get to work.
Celebrating the holidays with a man who has a bigger heart than most. He gave me his advice on being a County Supervisor – an early Christmas 🎁
Grateful for
@POTUS
for including me in his holiday festivities. May we all feel the peace and joy this season.
Took the Red Line this morning from our office to Union Station, where
@metrolosangeles
is headquartered. Two committee meetings here today!
Looking forward to discussing how we improve the system, informed by our experience on the system 🙏🏼
Today, my office was set to host a Drag Storytime at the San Fernando Library as part of LGBTQ+ History Month.
What was meant to be a celebration of love and inclusion turned into the opposite.
As the only renter on the Board of Supervisors, I know how it important it is to protect renters.
We must protect renters, and we must make sure folks do not fall out of their housing and into homelessness. That’s what I’m fighting for.
.
@SouthwestAir
canceled my flight home. No alert. No text. No email. I found out when a friend texted my brother, asking if it was canceled, cuz she heard from a friend.
Called to inquire. My call couldn’t be completed. The chat option didn’t work. The website won’t rebook. 1/
Today, in the spirit of Harvey Milk Day, I facilitated a dialogue of healing and reconciliation between the
@Dodgers
,
@LADragnuns
, and LGBTQ+ leaders.
The commitment to doing better is real, made possible through the limitless grace of the Sisters.
This week, Supervisor
@HollyJMitchell
and I are bringing forward a motion to expand the Board of Supervisors, reform our campaign finance laws, & create a more accessible, transparent, equitable county government.
We need your support 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼
For too long, renters and our lived experiences have been ignored by our elected leaders.
I’m proud to be leading the change alongside
@HugoForCD13
&
@kennethmejiaLA
to uplift renters and to realize our own political power 🙌🏼🙌🏼
I’m honored to have been elected unanimously by my peers to serve as Mayor of
@WeHoCity
I will have big shoes to fill, and we have a tough road ahead with
#COVID19
emergency & recovery, but I know - together - we can do anything.
#WeHoStrong
🌈
Protestors claimed they want to keep children safe while they pounded on doors, shouted obscenities & slurs toward my staff and library staff, and used strollers to blockade moving vehicles.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
And we’re back at Hollywood and Highland after a day at the downtown office!
This afternoon’s ride made clear that we need more personnel and supportive services on our trains and at our stations. I’ll be discussing this at a future Metro meeting.
The tunneling of the Purple (D Line) Extension is COMPLETE 🙌
Thanks to unwavering community support and the countless efforts of
@metrolosangeles
, we are connecting Los Angeles by RAIL 🚂
Keenan Anderson should still be alive. We cannot have a system of justice that is built on justifying the deaths of those at the hands of law enforcement.
We need a system of care that values life. A system that ensures this never happens again.
Metro users deserve a safe & comfortable system.
We cannot handout tax dollars for services without knowing what we get in return.
I voted NO on today’s law enforcement contract extension b/c we have no specific details regarding deployment & accountability for those agencies.
I am shocked, angered, and deeply disappointed. The resignations of all involved are imperative, but they are simply not enough. We must create a new way forward. The time is now.
#TeamLindsey
NEW: the LA County Board of Supervisors has officially declared a local emergency over homelessness in LA County, which passed with unanimous support from the Board.
We are committed to leading with the urgency & care needed to address this crisis in every neighborhood.
The Department of Public Social Services is hosting their last hour-long seminar on how to submit your Medi-Cal renewal tomorrow, October 11th.

On Tuesday, I participated in my first meeting on the Board of Supervisors, where I was selected to serve as Pro-Tem.
A short update on
#TeamLindsey
and the happenings of the Third District 🧵
We're thrilled that
@POTUS
and the
@USDOT
are recommending in their budget proposal the allocation of over $315 million to benefit the Westside Purple Line Extension Project, providing a critical connection for our region's second-largest job center 👏 👏 👏
The protestors’ message and actions today will not win in our continued fight for LGBTQ+ rights and equality.
We will continue to build communities where every person is treated with dignity and respect – and diversity is celebrated, not attacked or shamed.
I’m proud that the Board of Supervisors today came to an agreement to extend critical protections for renters through the end of March.
I will always fight for renters, because the costs and consequences of doing nothing will be dire.
Target is removing some LGBTQ merchandise from its stores nationwide ahead of Pride month, after an intense backlash from some customers, including violent confrontations with its workers.
I apologize to the families who were excited, but could not get in; to Pickle, a respected drag artist and West Hollywood’s Drag Laureate, who was determined that the program be held; and to the dedicated Library staff who have to show bravery by just showing up to work.
Put me in, Coach! I’m ready to work for the people of Los Angeles County.
Thank you,
@SheilaKuehl
, for fighting countless fights to make things better for future generations, so we can live fearlessly & with hearts wide open.
In my final message as County Supervisor, I say this: I'm as hopeful as I've ever been.
Serving the Third District and all of the people who call it home has been the honor of a lifetime. From the bottom of my heart, I thank YOU so very much.
Take it away
@LindseyPHorvath
!
I am outraged by Huntington Beach’s decision to ban the flying of the Pride Flag.
Instead of promoting a sense of community and belonging, the City of Huntington Beach is sewing hate & division at a time when our LGBTQ+ family is under attack nationwide.
The Board of Supervisors just unanimously passed my resolution in support of the
@WGAWest

As the representatives of Hollywood and our entertainment districts,
@kathrynbarger

These disgusting tactics and efforts to incite violence prevented Pickle and Library patrons from even entering the building.
I hope no one does to their families what they did to their neighbors today.
As a newly elected Supervisor, I came into office with a clear mandate to make LA County the equitable, sustainable, & safe place we all know it can be.
We have a lot of work ahead, and a responsibility to deliver meaningful results for our communities.
I abstained from approving Metro’s budget today. I moved to vote separately on our contract with law enforcement, but it failed by one vote.
I will not support status quo funding for Metro safety. Our existing safety contract simply does not keep riders or operators safe.
Now on to board vote on budget - Horvath asked for bifurcation split vote - voting for budget w/o vote for law enforcement contract - which would be separate. Board voting on the proposed split - does not pass.
Move Culver City is a critical step towards the safe, sustainable, equitable transportation network that is urgently needed region-wide.
Culver City, don’t roll back your ambitious safe street design.
How can other airlines get passengers out on time but not
@SouthwestAir
? Lots of stories from friends about travel nightmares w/ them, too.
The
@faa
&
@SecretaryPete
need to look into this. We can’t have ANY airline hold hardworking people hostage like this. end/
There are things we should all agree on. Graffiting swastikas & attacking people on their way to worship are clearly antisemitic acts and should not be up for debate.
This morning,
@MayorOfLA
and I celebrated the groundbreaking of Oatsies Place in Van Nuys, a permanent, supportive housing project to support women and victims and domestic violence.
It is disgraceful that on Shabbat and the second night of Hanukkah—a time to let the light in—we experienced more acts of blatant antisemitism. This hate is dangerous and destructive; it is on each of us root it out, or it will only further divide us.
Yesterday, LA County was proud to welcome
@VP
to the Tujunga Spreading Grounds in the San Fernando Valley.
Water resiliency projects like this one pave the way for our future, making sure we have safe, clean water for generations to come.
I am *passionate* about protecting renters. Not just because I am a renter, but because of what I have experienced as a renter.
I'm glad that our Board is discussing further actions to strengthen our rent stabilization ordinance and to establish right to counsel in LA County.
A year ago, I was sworn in to the office of Supervisor.
Tomorrow, I will become the youngest person to ever serve as Chair of the LA County Board of Supervisors.
Please join us tomorrow as I lay out our vision and priorities for the year ahead 🙏🏼
Multimodal communities. Safer streets.
Angelenos have made clear that they want a robust transportation system to lead us into our future 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Voters in car-centric L.A. approve Measure HLA to make room on streets for bikes, buses
Wouldn't it be game-changing to take rail from WeHo to LAX? From Mid-City to the Hollywood Bowl?
It's possible! Metro is making moves to realize the Crenshaw Northern Extension which would be one of the HIGHEST ridership light rail lines in the country.

Why are you & Fox News intent on spreading lies & misinformation?
Facts:
The 2015 DOJ consent decree said it needed to be depopulated.
The BOS voted to shut down MCJ years ago.
It’s still overcrowded.
Sheriff Luna agrees that we must comply.
Are Sheriff & DOJ wrong, or you?
Supervisor Horvath says she has a mandate to make LA County safe.
She quietly introduced a “decarcerate” motion, with no community input, that sought to release anyone with a $50k bail or below (child porn, DV, assault w/ firearm, robbery etc) & it was only pulled after backlash
Today I learned the Apartment Association
@AAGLA1917
is not serious about solving our homelessness crisis.
Instead of focusing on solutions, AAGLA put misleading statements to members, leading to confused calls & emails to mine &

Let’s get it straight ⬇️

Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming
@MayorOfLA
and Supervisor
@kathrynbarger
to their first meeting on the LAHSA Commission.
Your elected leaders are rolling up their sleeves and getting to work.
I’ve joined the
@LAHomeless
Commission to directly hear from
#LAHSA
’s executive & management teams abut their work/challenges & to help problem solve. There’s A LOT of coordination layers involved in tackling the
#homeless
crisis & I want to hear from those doing the work,
The data is clear: 41.18 is a failed policy that has only made our homelessness crisis worse.
If we truly want a homeless services system that delivers results, we have to work together and give up this tired game of finger pointing.
Congratulations, Madam Mayor
@KarenBassLA
.
I am so eager to work with you to solve our region’s most pressing problems. When we work together, there is nothing we can’t accomplish.
How would
@LACoSheriff
know who’s part of our community? I can count on one hand the number of times he’s been here in his term. One of those times,
#LASD
escalated violence against protestors. We don’t need him here (or anywhere) to cause trouble.
#weho
I am honored to earn the endorsement of the First Partner of California
@JenSiebelNewsom
who has been an outspoken advocate for women & for reproductive justice. She knows that when women win, we all win.
#TeamLindsey
I am disappointed that the Board did not adopt my motion w/
@HildaSolis
to protect renters in stemming the tide of homelessness for many of our most vulnerable.
We can only solve this crisis if we both address existing homelessness while preventing more from becoming homeless.
LGBTQ+ students in LA County deserve so much more. Instead, they continue to be subjected to hateful protests about their very existence.
The proliferation of hate is harming our LGBTQ+ young people, who deserve nothing less than fully equitable educational opportunities & care.
NEW: Mine &
@HollyJMitchell
’s motion to begin the process of county governance reform passed unanimously!🙌🏻
I’ll keep fighting to create a more accessible, equitable county, including expanding the Board of Supervisors & reforming campaign finance.
Thanks all for supporting 👏🏼
For years, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has been plagued by deputy gangs.
It’s unacceptable, and it should be an absolute embarrassment for those inside the department. These gangs have deeply eroded trust, and they MUST be eradicated.
Because of
@SouthwestAir
my only chance at getting home is to spend $400+ one way on another airline & arrive tomorrow afternoon (& cancel vet appt & work mtgs). Un. Real.
Who can afford this? Not working families or young people who get to go home once a year for holidays. 5/
Ultimately, it is the voters who are losing the most today. We will never solve our greatest challenges that lie ahead when there is no trust or belief in the ethics and morality of our Sheriff’s department and its top official.
#TeamLindsey
I joined workers at the Fairmont in Santa Monica today where violence against workers broke out last week.
Workers deserve fair, just contracts. Wages and benefits that will provide for them and their families.
Orange County banned the flying of Pride flags at their facilities today. Later, I learned Pride flags within
@HildaSolis
’ were stolen and vandalized.
I want to be very clear: Los Angeles will NEVER back down. We will continue to stand by and fight for our LGBTQ+ family.
Today, in a new way, I’m listening to
#Angelenos
of conscience, who are seeking accountability for racism & discrimination; equity in access to power & resources; healing from the racial, ethnic, & gender-based divides that plague our systems; (cont’d)
“Wicked, perverted, and sick”
Those are the words included in a pamphlet describing LGBTQ+ people that was included in one of my staff member’s

order they opened this morning.
This is unacceptable. We want answers from Target on how this happened.
