In over 20 years working at Forest, even in defeat, that ranks as one of the greatest days. Unbelievable atmosphere and ‘4 of our own’ on the pitch at the end! Nottingham be proud. The best is to come. ❤️⚽️
@EM_RESUS
In my first year as an SHO a patient’s wife said to me that he had talked about sorting his will. I said “that’s ridiculous”. Hours later I was running past her and her young daughter to the cardiac arrest. I can still hear her shouting “I told you so, I told you so” as I ran by.
Tradition on this day for the ED Consultants to say a huge thank you to our nursing colleagues and show our appreciation in the form of a yummy cake. We appreciate what you do, every single minute of every single day of the year. 👏🙏😘
@teamEDnuh
#InternationalNursesDay
A minutes silence tribute at Forest U23 game tonight. A black armband I never would want to have worn, mourning the tragic loss of a bright young life, my colleague’s son, my son’s friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. There are no words. Rest easy Dylan Rich 😥
5 Forest shirts a Santa tradition in the Coffey household for many years. He always believed he’d be leaving Premiership tops before retiring and it’s happened🎅🎈
And do you know what Rudolph said? …. He’ll be delivering Prem ones again next year!! Merry Christmas all🎄☘️
#COYR
A sad day for this beautiful city. Our thoughts are with the families of all the dead. A University, stunned and mourning the needless, tragic loss of young lives. Thank you to all the emergency services. This must have been so difficult 😞❤️

, remember many doctors have your backs. There is room for, & absolutely should be reasoned debate & challenge. We should however be in this together
#oneteam
Today we lost a much loved and esteemed EM colleague and friend in Manjeet Riyat. Nottingham and Derby EDs are deeply entwined. Many of us have worked in both. Our thoughts are with everyone in RDH and with Manjeet’s family at this sad time. May the great man rest in peace🙏
Back in the fray supporting our Junior Doctors, alongside this legend. Over 60 years between us working at Nottingham ED. Likely to be one of our last shifts working together. Each one an absolute pleasure. About 80 years at NUH when you add in our photographer!
Happy retirement to the Silver Fox! Have worked alongside Demas at QMC ED for over 26 years. The outpouring of respect and love from staff, in messages and videos, more than deserved for one of the finest doctors and men I am privileged to have known. ED Legend ❤️
#TeamNUH
Have worked and played alongside this man for many years. Today over 100 colleagues in ED rallied online to replace his bike which was stolen, with so many messages of support. Kenroy is not just a hero of mine. Loved by many. ED at its best.

@teamEDnuh
There is an insane lack of training time in nursing rotas, especially in complex, fast moving, critical areas like EDs. It is an issue of patient safety and one of the many factors contributing to staff moral injury. Why is nothing done about it?
#paralleluniverse
Overwhelmed by goodwill messages from friends, colleagues and ex colleagues from NUH, Nottingham Forest, Trent Bridge & the Unis to me and healthcare workers on the front line. We are all in this together. Every minute of planning and training vital before the surge. Keep safe 🙏
@mrdanwalker
Every emergency clinician will have many accounts of patients who would have had far more serious injuries without a helmet & examples of horrible injuries that could been prevented or lessened by helmet protection. It’s a no-brainer. Thank you for highlighting. Get well soon !🚴♂️
I’ve seen this episode 3 times now & cried every time! What a beautiful love story John and Flo. So proud of the kindness & empathy of SpR Anju. The skill of
@TheGardenTV
in making these programmes cannot be underestimated. A pleasure to work with their values & professionalism.
Nurses require protected continuing professional developmental time to study and be educated in the competencies required for quality & safe care (just as doctors and ACPs do). If that is such a no-brainer for retention and patient safety, why isn’t it provided?
#focusonRETENTION
The fortitude of healthcare workers in the face of what they are facing this winter is truly remarkable. That any continue, despite the personal cost to their mental health, is testimony to their passion, caring, camaraderie, stamina & incredible commitment to their patients.
These programmes show the expertise, care, compassion, humour & camaraderie that ooze from this great ED team, & have kept me here for 28+ years. Fantastic boost to showcase this, at a time the same staff are on the verge of breakdown in an emergency care system on its knees.
Immensely proud of James Pratt NAMY ‘Nurse Leader of the Year’. Well deserved recognition for a great colleague 👏👏👏Clare M. back to collect it next year! 👏Blessed with our talent & caring

The copious tears shed due to moral injury (on-shift and off) by nurses and other healthcare workers in the NHS, if collected, would create an ocean of shame, our politicians and leaders could not ignore 😥
@SteveBarclay
1. DON’T cycle on tram tracks, especially when you’ve seen this mechanism of injury numerous times in your career!
2. DO ALWAYS wear a cycle helmet. It prevents worse injury.
3. The people of Nottingham are extraordinarily kind. Thank you to the bystanders for your help🙏
This time last year we woke up to realise we were Premier League. Oh no we didn’t! ……. We hadn’t been to bed!! Best day and night.

Today 1/4 of a century ago was my first day in QMC ED. Every day since been a joy. I love the place. I love the people (especially
@AliAliwells
!). The ENPS ACPs & DREEAM my pride and joy. Blessed to have had amazing mentors and colleagues. Passionate to make it the no 1 ED 😘☘️
16 years ago on this date LNJ. A cold, cold night when you were taken from us, far too early. My old mate and medical mentor would be so pleased to see the mighty Forest back where they belong. ❤️⚽️
Buzzing !! Long time ambition to have a Prevention Hub in Nottingham Emergency Department gonna be realised. Fantastic to work with colleagues in NUH and Public Health to start a journey where health improvement and prevention at the heart of what we do.
Work to treat & support people harmed by alcohol in Nottingham has been given a funding boost from

Had some illustrious alumni of the Uni of Notts Masters in Advanced Practice & this legend Cherylene Camps is right up there. Only an elite few are awarded the Queen’s Ambulance Medal👏We’ve covered a few games pitch-side over the years. (And what a 3 points btw!)
@EMASNHSTrust
If you haven’t worked in a pre-hospital environment, or spent time with them you will have no concept of how awesome our colleagues in EMAS and other ambulance services are. One family in Emergency Care. We stand shoulder to shoulder with you❤️

A pleasure to have Anthony May join

@TeamNUH
There’s cakes and there’s cakes!! Well done Sophie’s mammy for producing this great and tasty work of art for our amazing nurses and AHPs in NUH ED. Happy Emergency Nurses Day. You are the heart beat of our ED ❤️ 🙏🍰
#teamNUH
When I hear “every minute counts” in ED, my brain immediately translates it to “every PATIENT counts”. Timely quality care for all patients is our aim. A minute is an inanimate, abstract construct. Let’s make our oft-repeated mantras better reflect our values.
#languagematters
Remarkable tribute on Facebook as scores of ED staff have change their profile picture to honour Francis today. He touched all our hearts with his caring, humour, good nature and insatiable love of life. He made us feel better about ourselves. We will miss you dear friend RIP.
Hard to believe it is 17 yrs since we heard that great laugh that made our spirits soar on even the greyest of days. My mentor, my mate. Always had my back. Between us, 40+ continuous yrs pitch-side medicine link between QMC A&E & Nottingham Forest . As ever, a toast today🍾🥂❤️
Philosophically, Advanced (Clinical) Practice should be about a new way of thinking about healthcare in the 21st Century. ‘Don’t make your ACPs Doctors. Make your Doctors ACPs’. I’m proud to call myself ‘an ACP (metaphorically) via the doctoring route’
@AcpsNuh

We in ED share a special bond with our prehospital colleagues. Today we grieve the loss, from our extended family, of a much loved colleague. Thoughts with his family at this sad time. Rest in peace Tony Chadbourne “Chadders”. 😔❤️

In London with 2 of our great nurses- presenting ED Foundation Programme, shortlisted for HSJ Award. Phenomenal turnaround from historic loss of ~90% new nurses over 2 years to retaining 93% of 122 nurses inducted to ED since April 2017. Hats off to
@JamesPrattACP
et al.
All at ED NUH remembering this great man on his birthday. His kindness, compassion and great smile are rarely far from us. Thinking of Em and all his family at this time. Never have we more needed to

Santa strayed from many years of tradition this year by bringing the Coffeys the Forest away kit. Appropriate blue in the year the Dubs won the 6 in a row. Nollaig Shona all x 🎅🎄💙❤️💚
@AndyReidXI
Gutted to lose James Pratt from ED to lead Division ACP strategy. A leader, educator and visionary figure. All for the greater good!! Kate Knowles who has lead the ACP development in NUH from the outset. Good luck to you both in your new roles. Onwards and upwards!!!
@DrBenSpencer
Being happily part of a party that has wilfully overseen the demise of the NHS to breaking point, gives you no mandate to lecture (or speak in behalf of) any part of its workforce.

week. Hugely proud of Nottingham ACP Program. Grads since 2006 include the national lead for CV disease prevention, an ED Head of Service, GP Practice Partners, ACP Trust strategy leads and many many excellent clinicians delivering high quality and compassionate patient care
My mentor. My mate. 12 years today and still missed so much. Your fantastic smile and infectious laugh still inhabit QMC ED and the City Ground. Lyn Jarrett - excellent clinician and great friend. We had the craic! RIP. 🎈⚽️🍾
Congratulations

A great honour to represent NUH ED today at the commemoration service for those affected by the Kegworth air disaster 30 yrs ago and lay a wreath at the monument. An emotion charged morning for the survivors, bereaved relatives and healthcare staff who did our professions proud.
@SteveBarclay
@DailyMailUK
No responsible government would oversee bringing the NHS to its knees, by failing to invest adequately in social care or the healthcare workforce, and have no coherent strategic plan to sort the holy mess, unless of course …..
Yesterday we lost a true gentleman from the sporting emergency care fraternity. Been alongside Russ Smith and his team of 1st Aiders at many training events and emergencies over the yrs. at Trent Bridge and Forest. It just won’t be the same without you around. Rest in peace🏏⚽️❤️
Some of DREEAM team visiting Urgent Treatment Unit .. exciting times. Let’s embed education and research in new processes in a way we’ve never done before. Excellent patient care and staff satisfaction is dependent on this!
@Dreeamnuh
#educationsaveslivesretainsstaff
Where were all these doctors, as scope crept involving 10s of 1000s of practitioners over the past 30 yrs, with wide variance in training, assessment & local governance, with serious implications for PATIENT SAFETY?
Nowhere. Because it didn’t impact their pay, titles or status.
Happy International Nurses Day to all the amazing nurses out there, especially at this time, especially in NUH ED/DREEAM - Matron, Staff Nurses, Sisters, Charge Nurses, ENPs, ACPs, IPEducators, Research Nurses. Legends all. Thank you for all you do 👏🎈🙏🎂

Chap rings GP Sx, known DM, feeling awful, weight loss, sweats, numbness & tingling in limbs. After multiple attempted calls, 3 days in a row, eventually told by receptionist could have apt in 2 weeks.
That’s what we call the ‘Delivery Gap’ in the NHS.
2 ‘gaps’ not unrelated.
A sad farewell to Jackie our much loved former matron today. She’d have been chuffed that “hellraiser”was added to her distinguished roles on the service pamphlet! Thoughts with Niall her husband and Melanie her sister. May she party in heaven.

Anybody posting this nonsense should stop immediately. If from PAs, they not doing their thousands of professional colleagues any favours. If any possibility of breaches of confidentiality, they should be disciplined.
The world of the NHS needs more Rob Galloways, brave enough to speak out and challenge the craziness.
Putting patients first and not mindlessly following diktats that are not in their, or our, interest.
👇
I am passionate about our NHS and have always wanted to get involved with
@NHSEngland
in a workforce or patients safety role.
But I wrote this article knowing that publishing it would probably stop that happening as they are unlikely to appoint someone who is so openly…
I can’t believe it’s 15 years since you were taken from us on a freezing cold dark night, the antithesis of the warmth you radiated to friends, colleagues & patients. People are only dead when they are forgotten. Never forgotten LNJ 1946-2006 ❤️⚽️
@teamEDnuh

I hope we can extinctify the term “decision maker” to describe Drs and ACPs in ED. Its inherent exclusivity unintentionally detracts from the amazing nurses and other staff who are constantly making decisions that impact on patient care

Francis, loveliest of men. Your smile and infectious enthusiasm makes our world a better place. You make us all feel special, because you care. Everyone of your ED family stands side by side with Em tonight, praying for you ❤️
Privileged to work with this man. It takes a very special kind of bravery to share a personal mental health journey in a way that will inspire others. Thank you Leon. Well deserved accolade today for a great poster 👍
Honoured to represent ED, but also paying my own personal respects to one of the legends of our Department. Polly was Night Sister for many years, feared and loved in equal measure. Wicked sense of humour, combined with a deep compassion and capacity for empathy. RIP.
@TeamNUH
Thank you to DREEAM Staff for a day run brilliantly and to all the SPs and examiner ACPs and Doctors. Special mention for Katie Murphy who helped after working in ED most of night - legend ! Standard of ACP Trainees absolute credit to themselves and the educators involved.
Paris for the World Cup Final.
Frank and I showed up to watch Ireland and Wales.
Sadly they didn’t, so we enjoyed a titanic contest between two great sides. Thank you Frank for a brilliant trip and some amazing memories 😊
@FrankCoffey26
It is getting to the point where we need to march together on Downing Street & be HEARD. Tweets are not enough. People have not been speaking honestly enough at every level to power. Platitudes from politicians and the usual rhetoric are redundant. We need to see a plan

Santa tradition of Forest shirts continues even if I’m the only true believer!! If 2019 brings - Promotion to Prem and Ireland 🇮🇪 Rugby World Cup. I’ll take that!! Merry Christmas to all (especially those healthcare workers on duty in ED, NUH and around the globe) 🎄🎅🎅
Depressing to read the level & roles of ppl who have liked or pos. reposted this👇. I’m all for a bit of humour, but really??
This is bullying of healthcare colleagues.
Address robustly governance, supervision, impact on training etc. but surely maintain civility & respect?
Our privilege to have worked with this extraordinary man The outpouring of love from his ED family is overwhelming We are heartbroken The greatest tribute we can pay Francis is a pledge to try to be as selfless & caring to each other & to our patients Please donate❤️

This week Team ED has lost one of its own. Wonderful Francis was so loved, both by patients and staff. We are raising money to honour Francis and support his family 💙

Rob Crouch presenting Emergency Care ACP curriculum and credentialing at Global Emergency Nursing Conference .. Great to see our specialty leading nationally and NUH ED right up there.
Nollaig Shona to all, especially the amazing team working over the festive period in the ED at Nottingham. They have survived another year of relentless pressure, the product of a never ending, preventable, predictable crisis not of their making with caring, resilience & humour.
@mmamas1973
Next on list of patient safety issues to address is the scandal of the paltry amount of education/training time many nurses receive, & the discrepancy in resource across professions.
A major factor in morale recruitment & retention.
You won’t avoid nurses ‘by virtue of … ‘.
@carolinekirk74
Overwhelmed by the love today. I’m so lucky to have worked with inspirational ACPs and leaders like
@JamesPrattACP
and
@Aussieamber
in my own department. Now replicated across so many specialties. Thank you to all.
Lee gend’s last day in NUH ED. Honoured to be the recipient of his famous auroscope. I’m gonna frame it and hang it in DREEAM!! Thank you for many years as a great colleague. Enjoy your retirement 👏
Hugely proud of the DREEAM award winners at today’s NUH PMED Conference. Committed medical educators always striving for quality, innovative education and training, to translate into quality care for our patients. 👏👏👏
If you work in healthcare and a patient, carer or relative asks “how long” will something take? (e.g. wait in ED or time to theatre), please NEVER EVER say I don’t know. Give (or find out) an estimate and update appropriately. If that’s a problem maybe you’re in the wrong job.
Prof Van Tam showing the backbone that we have desperately needed to see over the past week
“In my opinion the rules are clear and they have always been clear...they are for the benefit of all...and they apply to all”

Time to don the traditional scarf and head to Market Square for the craic with the Coffey Bhoys. A happy St Patrick’s Day to fellow immigrants and natives alike. Bring on the 3 points this evening and the Slam tomorrow! ☘️💚❤️
I have avoided the PA debate in here up to now, precisely because it is toxic, just as this thread demonstrates.
However some of the comments here are personal, unpleasant and ignorant.
Feels like I have no choice but to wade in:
Cake celebrations with some of the Admin Team in DREEAM on their day. The engine of any service and too often unsung. Thank you guys. We appreciate all you do. 💜
@NUHDREEAM

The principle that access to NHS services is based on clinical need, not an individual’s ability to pay, and working with people who share that philosophy. Sadly a toxic culture and poor management have eroded an amazing service. It will take time to rebuild.
In town tonight celebrating Fionn - Coffey no 1’s Birthday (won’t say age as makes me feel old), when had to deal with young man having “seizure “. EMAS on scene within minutes. Pleasure and reassuring to see familiar faces and great clinicians. Love those guys 👏
