Here’s a message that was sent to me by an ER resident physician in training who saved a patient’s life half way across the country from me.
When people ask “why teach on social media?”
This is why.
I just left the ER.
We are officially back to getting crushed by COVID-19.
Delta Variant is running rampant and it’s MUCH more transmissible than the original virus.
99% of our ICU admits did NOT receive a vaccine.
Virtually ALL of them wish they had.
Hi, ER Doc here.
If your nose is bleeding, DO NOT TILT YOUR HEAD BACK. This just makes the blood drip down the back of your throat and you will then swallow and/or choke on it. Pinch the soft part of your nose and TILT YOUR HEAD FORWARD. Please tell your friends about this.
Here’s the Chest X-Ray of a young girl suffering from a condition that is now the
#1
cause of death in children and adolescents in the U.S.
What’s the diagnosis?
Hi ER Doc here,
@Twitter
needs to flag this tweet as medical misinformation. There is NO scientific evidence that face masks cause pneumonia or any other type of lung infections. They prevent them from spreading and SAVE LIVES.
RT so people don’t actually believe this BS.
Hi ER Doc here,
I can’t believe this needs to be said but doctors do NOT get more money if somebody dies from COVID.
RT so people don’t believe this made up BS
“If we ban AR-15s they’ll just find other ways.”
I’m an ER Doctor. I’ve seen every way there is. Nothing comes close to empowering murderers with the ability to destroy as many human bodies as quickly and effortlessly. So let them find other fucking ways. It’s not that complex.
Hi, ER Doc here.
Just to be crystal clear we still do NOT have enough COVID tests for our symptomatic patients let alone to test everyone who wants one.
Doctors be like: Don’t confuse your Google search with my 4 years of Medical School
Patients be like: Don’t confuse your 4 years of Medical School with my 20 years of living with the fucking disease
Two nights ago I gave a wild baby rabbit CPR w breaths after I took it from my Petey (cat). Today, I’m being admitted to the hospital with signs of “bunny fever” (Tularemia). I’m on 8L oxygen, a cocktail of very expensive antibiotics, anti-diuretics. Need light & love, please!
Just left ER and reflecting back on my shift. I just wanna send a special shoutout to respiratory therapists. We’re seeing so much COVID and they’re always having to put themselves directly in harms way. You guys don’t get enough credit. Thank you for everything you do.

When a critical patient suddenly develops an intense and desperate thirst for water, they are about to crash until proven otherwise. Trust me on this one.
29-year-old Christian Eriksen went into Sudden Cardiac Arrest on the soccer field in front of the entire world today.
His life was saved because he got immediate CPR and defibrillation.
This can happen to literally anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Life is precious. Learn CPR.

Hi, ER Doc here.
If that’s the case then you are EXTREMELY high risk of dying from COVID and I would strongly recommend that you do NOT go out in public.

Watch this great video showing the Modified Valsalva Maneuver converting a patient in SVT to Normal Sinus Rhythm
If you’re not doing this, you’re not doing SVT right!

Me: “Hi Sir, what brings you to the ER?”
Patient: “I feel fine, but my wife made me come in.”
Me: …
Patient: …
Me: *places defibrillator pads on his chest*
I admitted an elderly lung cancer patient with COVID19 for slightly low oxygen levels.
Him: “I guess the vaccine didn’t work for me huh doc?”
Unvaccinated, I almost certainly would have been sending him to ICU with a breathing tube.
I said: “Sir, the vaccine saved your life.”

Hi ER Doc here,
Just to be crystal clear ectopic pregnancies are ones that have implanted in the WRONG anatomical location. They are NOT viable pregnancies. They rupture, bleed, and KILL women. This is one of the most ignorant and insane things I have ever heard.

Watch this video showing how smooth reducing a dislocated shoulder is after an Interscalene Nerve Block.
Keep an eye on the shoulder and look how easy it pops back into place while he feels no pain.
This is why I haven’t had to do a sedation for shoulder dislocation in years.…
Hi, ER Doc here.
Did you know that bystander CPR can double or triple the chances of survival from cardiac arrest? This is how it works.
Life is precious. Learn CPR.

I'm an ER Doc and don't claim to be a gun violence expert, but looking into the data I've found insufficient evidence to support thoughts and prayers as an effective means of stopping children from being murdered with semi-automatic guns.
Hi, ER Doc here.
I use this account to teach people about medical emergencies. It’s my birthday today and would love to hit 200K followers to be able to reach more people.
Can I get some follows and RTs to help me get there?
Watch as this nurse sings to comfort her dying patient.
A powerful reminder that sometimes the greatest things we can offer our patients are not doctor or nurse things. They’re just simply human things:
#Empathy
#Kindness
#Compassion
I was taking care of a young girl in the ER on her birthday. She was sick and getting admitted to the ICU. When I later went to check on her there were B-Day balloons tied to her bed. Her nurse had called a night shift nurse to pick them up on her way in.
The human things. ❤️

Hi, ER Doc here.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but here we are: there is NO scientific evidence that radio signals have the capability to activate dormant viruses and/or turn people into zombies.
My trauma patient told his nurse that he wanted to talk to me and not her because “what the hell do you know, you’re just a nurse.” So I took a point off his GCS for confusion.
Hi, ER Doc here.
Please do NOT attempt to drink this much water. This is how you literally get “water intoxication”. Your body’s sodium will drop to dangerously low levels resulting in SEIZURES, COMA, and/or DEATH.
Chris Pratt says Marvel's nutritionist had him drinking ~220 glasses of water a day while training to play Star-Lord
One glass for every pound he weighed
