What a complete load of rubbish.
@Telegraph
If, by returning to lane 1 you find yourself sandwiched between 2 trucks forcing the following one to o/take you should consider taking the train, safer for everybody.
Pleased with my purchase today.
2L turbo diesel.
£0 ved👍
78mpg on the trip back from Sheffield to Bristol. 😎
It will do 1000miles on a full tank 😱 & doesn't need to be plugged in 😂
I see a large vehicle with limited visibility further obscured by roadside furniture.
The large vehicle is showing a left hand indicator.
Anticipating that i may not have been seen i slow & plan to pass behind it should it fail to give way.

Hello
@LondonFire
Is there any chance you could follow your own advice?
Left turning trucks failing to look out for cyclists at junctions is the most deadly thing when it comes to cycling around London.
Seems to be something this driver of yours has forgotten.
Discretion is something that's lacking from our modern digital/automated/autonomous roads policing systems.
Sometimes a proper b******ing is far more effective.
In Germany, a 6-year old boy who loved motorcycles was diagnosed with cancer.
His family posted online asking if anyone could ride their motorbike past their home, to cheer him up. They thought 20 or 30 people would come.
Nearly 15,000 bikers showed up.
♥️ 🇩🇪
Dear 🚙drivers.
Rule 264
You should always drive in the left-hand lane when the road ahead is clear. If you are overtaking a number of slower-moving vehicles, you should return to the left-hand lane as soon as you are safely past!!!🙈
P.S. They slowed i continued as per rule 268
large vehicle with limited visibility.
A LHD limiting the view of me further.
There is a chance the driver may use the left lane to go around the RAB.
I will hold back, wait for them to commit to an exit & pass swiftly so as not to linger alonside them.

1: So my crash footage has been doing the rounds today. Hitting over 1,300shares on Facebook with 111k views.
@theJeremyVine
was also kind enough to share it too. I’m happy for it to be seen, provided it inspires a positive discussion about genuine road courtesy and kindness.
Don't overtake a left turning vehicle!!
A better position would be to drop back so as to get a view up the nearside of the van of any emerging vehicle.
On narrower roads, riding in the middle of the lane is safer. Drivers often indicate late (if at all!), and you need to be able to anticipate. Take extra care when overtaking, as there may be other road users wanting to come out of the junction that don't give a shit either.
Nobody is exempt from risk despite working v hard to manage that risk tonight I am sat in a&e with a shoulder injury after being driven into 🤡.
This was not in my riding plan🤬
Treat 'Give Ways' as 'Might Not Give Way'.
Car spotted early.
Very small adjustment in speed means i don't meet them at the junction.
i'm now not involved in their poor driving.

You are approaching on your motorbike, you plan to turn left (going straight ahead)
How are you going to indicate the fact you are turning but not entering the road to the left so not encouraging the waiting car to emerge?
Dear car driver, this sign does not mean 'form an orderly queue' for several miles.
Those continuing to use the empty lane are NOT queue jumping.
Lorry/coach drivers, it is not a signal for you to initiate a rolling road block either.
Use both lanes-merge in turn.
As bikers we are taught to ride defensively regardless of rights, wrongs or potential liabilities.
Of course the driver should have slowed or stopped but why instruct a 5yo to continue to ride into a pinch point where the oncoming driver obviously isn't going to?
The Pan had a mileage anniversary today.🎉
120000 miles. 😎
Uses no oil between changes. 🛢️
50mpg commuting, over 300 miles on a tank.
Temp never rises above normal 🆒
Not a rattle or tick from the engine 🚂
No clunks from box or drive ⚙️
Like em or not thats some engineering 🥇
Police say they cannot take any action against this angry little man as the VRM is not visible in the video and it would be difficult to identify the driver.
Let me help you with this 🤦♀️

Did you know?
•Bikers that drive cars have fewer crashes whilst driving?
•The cost/severity of any driving claims are less than non riding drivers.
•16% of drivers failed a theory retest whereas only 6% of bikers failed.
So if more drivers also rode bikes = safer roads for all
Fault only occurs after an incident.
Why not reduce the liklihood of having to find fault or getting injured & ride defensively?
Why ride up the inside of a vehicle indicating to turn left?
No, extreme weather was not the cause.
I was driving in the area at the time, I adjusted my speed & driving to suit the conditions, as did others.
We didn't crash.
This not only makes it clear to the cyclists that the law applies to them too but also demonstrates to all of those drivers who witnessed it that police will take action regardless of mode. 👏
Following on from yesterdays post, there were a lot of questions raised as to whether the cyclist had travelled over the stop line when the lights were red.
As you can see from the downloaded cleartone, the lights were red when they crossed the stop line and then continued.
Filtering is a privilege and should be treated so.
Forcing others to take avoiding action is not only poor riding but doesn't help promote filtering or bikes in general to drivers.
You may pass a thousand jct's, a million other road users and still be incident free.
BUT NEVER stop planning for the next interaction to be different, it was only the space i made between myself & the Discovery that prevented this being a collision.

Whenever i come across a rider with their head over the centre line i wonder what they would do if they met a truck or tractor coming the other way?

I tried to warn you to always put your personal safety first but you blocked me.
I can only hope you have taken away your own learning points from this incident.

A5012 Via Gellia. A pair of dangerous riders overtaking one of our unmarked cars on solid white lines and do same 4 more times. A short clip from the 2 mile horror show. Blue lights and siren on, oblivious we were behind. Stopped, disqualifications applied for.

When driving a car and you catch up with another car you are just 'in traffic'.
When on a bike and you catch up with another bike, it's the start of an adventure 😎🏍️
Insulate Britain activists attempted to block Wandsworth Bridge in South London, furious motorists weren’t having any of it & did what the police should be doing.
This rider may well be talented in the control of his bike but his blind faith in other road users is likely to cause him to run out of that talent.

Slow Control is definitely a skill worth practicing, unless of course you enjoy queuing with the car drivers.🚗🚙🚕

Eyes up (not at the ground)🤪
Look where you want to go.🤓
Use clutch & rear brake to control speed.️
Keep revs high enough to prevent stalling.🏍️

officers were pursuing a man linked to car thefts and made a decisive move when he turned into oncoming traffic.
It's a great piece of controlled police driving!

We’re releasing this footage of a collision last year as more motorbikes take to the roads for the summer.
The driver involved was convicted of driving without due care, had to pay £594 and was given 5 penalty points.

This motorcycle instructor believes you should use clutch control to negotiate bends to prevent loss of traction.
My advice is DON'T!
Throttle control is how to prevent loss of traction.

You don't indicate right going round a roundabout. That is what the roundabout is for.
You indicate left to leave it. After you have passed the last exit you don't need.
Treating give way's as 'might not give way' could save your life.
Reducing speed improves your chances of
Stopping if needed.
Gives others more time to see & be aware of you.
Gives you more time to process others actions.
Makes your bike more manouverable if taking evasive action
In our riding plan we need to consider;
*What we can see
*What We Cant See
*What We Can reasonably Expect To Happen (Cars, vans, Tractors, Horses, Cyclists Motorcycles etc.)
A HGV of this size is unexpected due to the next mile being v narrow & steep with a 7.5Ton weight Limit.
@DurhamRAPol
Regardless of the law if that was your 5yo cycling ahead of you would you shout "keep going" & as the dad has claimed would you tell your son to ride in the middle of the road in future to block cars?
Nobody is exempt from risk despite working v hard to manage that risk tonight I am sat in a&e with a shoulder injury after being driven into 🤡.
This was not in my riding plan🤬
Call me boring but ye can ram yer pub. 🤣 A litre of petrol is cheaper than a litre of vodka, I’ll be out all day on £20 and I won’t have a hangover tomorrow. 👍🏴🇬🇧🏍
This driver thought 162mph was acceptable on a public road, he also thought he was above the law and chose to ignore the courts sanctions imposed only 2 months ago showing a total disregard for the safety of other road users and the justice system.

If your stuck in the snow, adjust your mirror, take a long hard look at yourself and ask yourself why you ignored all the advice not to travel.🙈🙉🙊
Unless of course it was absolutely unavoidable.
It is a miracle that the mother and her child escaped serious injury in this incident in Solihull.
I am concerned that the driver has not been arrested and have asked the Police for more information.
If we are to reduce danger on our roads we need to learn from every collision.
@DC_ARVSgt
Surely her position is no longer tenable?
My kids are of a similar age & I can say, hand on heart they would not do this, under any circumstances, yes I do blame the parents as we teach the difference between right & wrong, respect, courtesy & other socially acceptable qualities.
O/takes aren't all about the throttle/speed.
In this one i'm
Planning
Considering alternatives (inc not o/taking)
Complete 1st o/take
Wait for view to develop beyond HGV (consider not o/taking HGV)
Commit to 2nd o/take.
Back to n/s able to safely slow for new limit

The petulant & childish replies to this tweet are shocking.
